My experience has been that on a like for like basis mongering is more expensive in London and Canada/USA than here, though now with the strong A$ some prices may be more comparable but I din't believe less. My point is that you are paying as much as but, most likely, more than locations like London, Paris, Zurich, Dubai, etc. And there is no reason to do so unless you have "money to burn" and/or you LIKE to pay those kind of prices! Each to their own I say - Quite a few guys will save there $ and travel to the locations you mentioned but for others due to circumstances it may not be possible.

Quick report of first night in Melb:
