All substances have "holes" in them, and this included latex. Just like the rubber ballons that go flat eventually because the gas leaks out. There is a very interesting story about Salon 28 at 28 Ponsonby Road. Lucy Chan, a Chinese lady, owns it. I think she is in her thirties, rather attractive and has almost flawless skin. The massage was $45.00 per hour or $30.00 for half an hour. However, the facilities out front were less than adequate because it was a hair salon as well. There are other options available but the massages used to cost at least $1.00 per minute. Sex was not supposed to be available here either, but it was and again at $60.00. The main thing I did not like about the place was the fact that you couldn’t see all the girls at once as they were either just sent to your room or they came in one at a time. All the girls are in a small room down the back. Occasionally you would see one or two who may come down to the front with a client, but I felt this method sucked and I told Lucy. Obviously she did not take this on board.

Lucy moved Salon 45 a few doors along in Panmure to become Salon 33, although it still has a sign outside saying Salon 45. The prices are now $60.00 for a massage or $150.00 for full service for the hour. I popped in to see what it was like and I did not have a massage, as I did not like the prices, but at least here you can see the girls as they are in a room just behind reception.

There are now five Asian massage salons in Panmure and a conventional “Massage” parlour. I do not know how they all make money.

Now if I was just a massage, I go to a proper massage practitioner. It is also cheaper and I get a proper massage. I still take my own oil, as it is the best I have come across.

another scary thing is condoms themselves. latex is very porous, it is full of tiny holes. the idea is that the holes are smaller than the sperm, thus not letting sperm through. i was once shown a diagram that showed the size of the hiv virus in relation to the size of the pores (holes) in a latex condom. to relate this, make an "o" with your thumb and forefinger, take a pencil and place it in that "o".....that is the relative size. damn scary. now, you ask, why don't more people get hiv when having protected sex? well........i can't answer for sure, but i will say i think there are many different variables. one being the fragile nature of the virus itself, the other your own immune system, the 3rd may be that the virus doesn't make it through the hole, or if it does, does not get a chance to make it all the way in and find a place to hide and be undisturbed.

I know what you mean with the rubbers........I can't believe that "someone" doesn't teach them this....I have tried to tell them, but I know damn well they don't have a clue about it.....Oil and Latex are not a good mixture.....not for very long....I also prefer to take along my own rubbers....I find often that the ones provided are a tight fit and uncomfortable and quite frankly not of the highest quality either.

My one and only visit was many months ago now, and I've got a hopeless memory.

I do remember thinking they had a LOT of women, and that most of them were worthy of my time and money.

ALL of them were Asian, but that could include Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian, Philipine, Indonesian and god knows how many other areas.

I've got more detail about the Ponsonby Rd Salon (whatever the number).

The area where you strip and put on a bathrobe or a towel is a small, common room for all the customers to use, but it is also the area you spend the least time in. If you go outside of peak times there will be less chance of having company in the changing area.
(Note though, there are all the facilities of a hair salon out front. It may be that a day-time visit would mean walking past a row of grannies getting their blue rinse and perms. The salon part was totally empty when I passed through.)

The sauna is directly off the change room. It is pokey, ferociously hot, clean, and seemed totally unused. I spent less than 5 mins in there before deciding a sauna was not my cup of tea (ladel some water onto the coals before you strip off if you plan to use the sauna. This could also buy you some time to wait for other guys to srtip/dress and leave you in provate).

As for the shower area, it is across the hall, and there are separate stalls. Definitely one person per stall at a time. You won't be sharing the soap with a Freddy Mercury look-a-like who is just waiting for you to bend over :-) (the soap was unscented liquid soap - good for not leaving any giveaway scents - it only had a very slight odor straight out of the dispenser, which would not be noticable after being rinsed away). Each shower cubicle has a wall and a clouded glass door to prevent others eyeballing you. I hung my towel over the shower door, which hid any remaining chance of seeing my face (or of me seeing any other punters face)(I stuck my locker key on top of the soap tray in the shower while I was showering - just don't forget the bloody key when you've done!). Likewise, you can dry yourself from inside the shower, so the only remaining time you possibly will be among guys is using the corridor to your room (suggest you keep the towel around your waist), and when you pay at reception.
Back to the showers - if you choose the one furthest from the door, there will be less chance of seeing other guys walking past your stall (but you'll be walking past theirs).

The other time you'll face the possible embarrasment of being near naked and possibly 'bulging forth' in the company of others is when the 'hostess' introduces each of the girls to you in the privacy of your room. I was definitely getting a bulge watching these girls parade in and out, but what the heck - they're there for sex, and they've all been through the same selection process heaps of times. I was tossing up about sitting on the bed to hide the bulge, or standing up and flaunting it. Asian culture seems to suggest that the more bashfull approach is in order. You might also find that the girl doesn't want you to see her remove her clothes. This is also another cultural thing. I am not sure about Salon 28, I have been to several parlours in Wellington in which there was a "common" shower area, however, there were multiple private shower stalls.
