I received some *A airlines newsletter promoting that new route as well. Rudimentary online search returns virtually nothing except couple website as this:

    http://papeete.nefretetetowels.eu/

But with the ridiculous rates (as high as 500 Euros!) and rather fake worn out pics on that website, I don't think Papeete will be on my to-do list for a while.

i can't gve you any recent info on prices etc, but when i was there last in 2005 there were wl's everywhere.

along one of the main streets after dark there were a dozen or so street walkers, and several bars full of fl's

there was also a huge working tranny population and a seperate street walking area for the trannys, and different bars for them

i had no trouble just being in papeete at nigght and finding action and short time hotels

    good luck

It was a total bust mongering wise, but a great vacation none the less.

    Those islands are simply incredible.

How did you fare at Bora Bora?

    Pourdesp,

The situation you presented (family et al) would have made the tight-rope walk a real adrenaline rsuh. How did it go mate?

Maybe one way of getting away would have been to check out hotel staff at another property - they are usually barred from entertaining their in-house guests so well. Plus it threatens all parties concerned.

It would be nice to hear of your exploits.

Where can one find quick action in Bora Bora?

I am gonig there with the wife and kids, and if I can "escape" for an hour or two, is there anywhere I can get a quickie from?

Are the bellhops and concierges of major hotels helpful?

How much should I expect to pay for P2P?

    Prices from long ago

This was part of an article I found on the internet. I thought it interesting.

"Other times, the absence of standardized currency has worked in travelers' favor. Pioneering voyages to the South Pacific abound with tales of an improvised iron-based economy, wherein a sailor could acquire a short-term Tahitian wife through the gift of "an old razor, a pair of scissors, or a very large nail." In 1767, Captain Samuel Wallis of the Dolphis had to forbid his men from trading nails for anything save wood or water, "to preserve the ship from being pulled to pieces" by horny sailors."

    following through on papeete

    Dear Blastoff,

If you are planning a trip to this lovely black pearl in the south pacific, I seriously recommend that you do some homework first. Street talent is best left to themselves. In some of the pubs that you hear loud music coming out of, do not hesitate to go in. Chances are that you would find girls trying to buy you a drink. Make sure they are girls as once you are two or three drinks down, you would find it difficult to make out that difference very easily.

Prices are generally stepp as there is no income tax, but the Government makes most of its money on sales taxes. Hence the high prices.

The Tahitians are very friendly people and once you befriend a girl, tell her clearly that you would prefer a party at a house. She will arrange for you to meet up with her friends. That is when the party really begins.

For a rank outsider, where is a good place to start ? Well, go browsing in the shops, smile and greet them just as they would greet you. Tell them you are looking for a Tahitian to be-friend. It never hurts to try.

I must apologise for my delayed response as I was away in Tahiti all this while. If you ever try to get onto the internet at any of the cyber cafes there (lke Mana Rock), it costs US $ 10 for half an hour. Also be prepared to negotiate a French keyboard - this can be very frustrating.

    Good luck!

Another good place is Sharks just a stroll away fromMana Rock Cafe. Entrance is US $ 10. On an average, each US $ would fetch you 100 Pacific Francs.

Tahiti has the highest incidence of Aids in all of the South Pacific, so once again - Don't leave home without it (and its not your Amex card this time !!)

Excellent info and I take my hat off to you. Just a few more questions please.

Are the girls in these places hardcore pros, semi pros or non-pros?

What prices should I expect to pay for all night?

Are the Tahitian girls as pretty as their reputation?

I see accommodation is expensive there. Are there any cheaper alternatives you can recommend?

Thanks in advance for you help.

    Regards.

What's the going rate in Tahiti? I may have some limited opportunity in the upcoming months and want to know what the market is like.

    Thanks!

    Be safe.

Anybody looking for street action in Tahiti beware of "mahu". 90% of SG are actual guys. Some can be really good looking which is all the most disconcerting.
I recomend looking for some special massage adds in the newspapers.
