You are better off than I am, with your US dollars. Look at the Aussie dollar. Back in 2011-2013 we were at parity with the US Dollar. I have been to many places in the world especially over the last decade and even lived in South America.

As I watch I notice the world in general is catching up or has caught up with the west.

In the age of digital nomad and YouTube vids glorifying travel and living abroad I wonder if we are at the end age of affordable living around the world.

Asking for opinions, in 10-20 years do y'all think international mongering will still be doable? Will there be cheap fun places to retire to? Certainly with inflation there might not be the bang for the buck, but will it still be easy and doable for a middle class person to live a nice traveling life abroad or will that time pass?

It will still be very easy in 10-20 years for a middle class person to live, travel monger abroad. I can honestly tell you that I know more about prices than most people in the world. I spent time last year travelling to cheap fuck spots like Thailand, Indonesia, Colombia, Brazil, Greece, Turkey.

With all my on the ground knowledge. My plan is to have my passive income sorted in the next six years and retire overseas, working remotely 2 days a week and living like a king. If you can find a role via a platform like Upwork, or via job sites, or friends / family. That provides you US $25 an hour as a western knowledge worker, 16 hours a week doing admin, or voice work, or something else. You are already well ahead of average salary earners.

So ignoring my passive income and just working 16 hours a week remotely at US $25 p / h (achievable as an educated Australia such as myself), you could be on US $1600 a month. That would put me on around the average wage in Hungary / Poland, and better off than most Chileans, and much better off than most Malaysians, Argentinians, Mexicans, Turks. It would put me on about double the salary of a Brazilian or Thai worker. Then I'm also 3 x better off than a Colombian, 4 x more salary than an Indonesian, Vietnamese or filipino. 10 x better off than most Nigerians and Cambodians.

There are definitely ways to still make it affordable.

1) Have a long term mindset, and stay in a city for 30 days or more to make accommodation cheaper. Avoid AirBnb or do short-term AirBnb then contact the owner directly. Walk the streets or hunt around Google Maps. Jump through cheap hotels to find the good ones. If you can stay 6 months+, look for unfurnished apartments. In 2014 in Manila, Philippines I rented a condo at Gramercy and Knightsbridge of 6 months each. They come with basic furnishings. NCR (national capital region) of Manila is huge, if you want to live outside the bubble of Makati / Fort Bonifacio, it's even cheaper.

2) Use the dating apps to find good girls who are lonely. Especially if you don't mind women over 30, you can get it for free.

3) Cities that are a little bit off the digital nomad map are awesome. Everyone is going to Medellin to harassed, with professional crews targeting tourists.
