I am in San Pedro Sula right now and will be continuing to Buenos Aires via San Jose and Lima in the next months. At each stop I will be taking numerous side trips.

If anyone is interested in helping out, especially with hotel information, or getting together for a drink along the way let me know.

I just found out I'll be able to break away from NYC for about four days between 8/15 and 8/24. I'll miss you by one week. Anybody else going to be in or around the DR then?

I'd like to stay at a chica fiendly place but also where I could just chill out and watch the waves by myself. I also want to do some non-mongering, vacation-like things like scuba dive, or whatever-basically have some fun. Do you think I would be able to accomplish all of these things at the hotels you mentioned? And what's the best way to contact the hotel, website, phone number?

I'm ready for some flames regarding my non-mongering desires (such desires, however, not at the expense of mongering, of course) but please understand that I've been working long hours, I really need a vacation and I can't visit this board at work-I have to sneak in on it when my better half isn't looking. This is a sort of disclaimer that I know I should be doing more research, but it's hard for me right now and I want to zoom off while I have the chance. So, I'm relying on your assistance in this matter.

Where is Boca Chica are you staying? I stayed at Hamacas in 2001 for a week. That was my first time in the DR. Local girls worked the disco on the resort (Hamacas is all inclusive and non-guests are only allowed into the disco with a door fee). THey wanted $ US!!! And then you would have to go to a short stay place down the road for anouth .25. I opted to stick with the female tourists staying at the resort. Even the girls on the other side of the wall on the beach wanted $US. Un-freakin-believable. How did they get so spoiled? Where can you get some cheaper chicas in Boca Chica? (No pun intended), i.e., where should I stay and/or party?

Anyone going to Cuba the remainder of this year? I've been to LOS and CR and would like a trip buddy to show me the ropes. I speak a little Spanish & my schedule is flexible. Will be flying out of TJ. Any recommendations / suggestions will be appreciated.

1. 11 – 13 Dec. Havana (need to take care of some business during the days, but free at night).

2. 13 – 23 Dec. Buenos Aires: Total freedom of movement (day & Night). Considering a quick excursion into Uruguay for a couple of nights: dates to be confirmed.

3. 23 Dec. – 1 Jan. Havana: total freedom. Christmas and New Year in Havana will be a real experience.

Yes you are right, all it takes is a bit of effort and you can experience the real deal of the country of interest… All that goes with it comes as a bonus too: real people, culture and society. Nice.
