To follow up on what Havanaman said -- I shaved my head in my mid-thirties as soon as my hairline started receding, partly because I didn't feel like dealing with drugs, partly because I didn't feel like watching the whole process and feeling helpless, and partly because I just decided, ok, well, this settles things, I'm not going to spend time obsessing over it. (My hair was long, down to my shoulders/mid-back at the time.) I was naturally nervous because I didn't know how it would look, but I've got to be honest -- I got and get a lot more attention from women with a shaved head. There's a percentage who simply want to touch or feel it, some who are simply attracted to the look, some who want to talk about it, etc., and it sure as hell is better than looking and feeling like a tree in mid-November.

I stopped because I ultimately did not want to become a slave to a daily, life-long medication: simple. If it was for a "true" organic disorder (heart problems etc...) I would take it...

My sex drive was not affected at all. In fact right now, and I am in the process of developing an excellent and shining monks-cap, I get just as much tail (both P4P and regular) as I used to. I think it’s a matter of confidence. You’re not telling me that 100% bald men (young and old) are all depressed? Off course not. Many men look really cool with a shaved head, especially if they have a soft-features (OK, stop already I’m not gay!). You might like to try it. You can then legitimately claim having hair, but preferring to shave it: it all depends on your bald-pattern. If its going towards the “nest” I would go for the shave-look, I can see my own cap expanding to a nest and so I will shave in the next 2 – 3 years.

Confidence and attitude is the key. I learned this and its been excellent since.

Supposedly it lowers libido and can contribute to ED, like an antidepressant. What was the reason you decided to stop if it was working? Physical, emotional, financial, pschychological? I know it can cause damage to your kidneys or I've heard. A lifetime is a long time to be taking medication. My dilemma is that I'm shedding horribly rite now and want to battle this as early as I can.

I'm hesitant to ruin my sex life by taking this pill and then needing V to insure proper usage of my tool.

Are the generic versions the same and did you have less sex drive or testerone related issues, because it lowers the DHT in your body.

I'm weighing my options,full head of hair or diminished sex drive.

I'm thinking no hair,no sex and it is demoralizing to a man, I have seen friends go through it and they are depressed and are on paxil orZoloft to cope.

I am not aware of any adverse effects of Propecia (either generally or sexually). I would however think very carefully before you start take it. A couple of my friends and I tried taking it. It works: plain and simple. My hair thinning stopped, and the drop-out rate was measurable decreased. My sex life was not affected by taking Propecia.

I no longer take it as I wanted to see what would happen if I stopped. Well for me, the thinning did not return, but the bald-pattern changed. I was heading for a receding hair line and now will end up getting a monks-cap. Very strange, but according to my doctor can happen. I’m happy with that and can accept / live with it. One of my friends also stopped and he is now 85% bald: go figure.

I guess the answers is that the effects are going to be different for different people and in the worse case scenario, if you stop taking it, you may loose your hair at a faster rate than before. So it’s a life-time commitment.

I went to Russia and I buy 100mg Viagra in Pharmacy for 600 rubles, so cheap for who dont needs it, really expensive for who needs it; it was my first time, I am 30yo, I dont need it, but I was really curios and wanted to have more fun.
