Low testosterone levels can lead to metabolic syndrome

Scientific journals point out that the developed world is experiencing a dramatic increase in the prevalence of obesity, insulin resistance, poor lipid/cholesterol levels, hypertension, impaired glucose tolerance, and pro-inflammatory states. These risk factors are all key features of the "metabolic or insulin resistance" syndrome and contribute to a number of conditions, including the exploding epidemics of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

The interesting thing is that a fair percentage of people with "metabolic syndrome" have low testestorone levels when tested. Supplemental testesterone helps reverse this metabolic syndrome. Some studies have suggested that any male with "metabolic syndrome" have their testerstone levels checked. Testerostone supplements also eventually leads over time to a higher percentage of muscle/fat ratio. I've been on androgel for about a year now and notice a leaner body...less fat and more muscle. If your fasting glucose levels have been creaping up over time, if you're overweight, if you are experiencing erectile dysfunction, I encourage you to ask your physician to check your testerone levels. There is a definite interrelationship that should be examined. Testosterone supplments also contribulte to a more positive outlook on life.

    Mongering Improves Your Health

My Primary Care Physician (PCP) ordered the prolactin test for me 2 years ago. I didn't ask for it and, at the time, I couldn't have told you what prolactin is/does. At the same time, he also ordered a test of my testosterone levels (Testosterone Free Profile) and my glucose serum level. (I was probably complaining of general lethargy and may have mentioned a low libido.) These tests showed my testosterone to be significantly below the normal range (while glucose and prolactin were within the normal range), so I was then referred to an endocrinologist.

A couple months later, before I saw the endocrinologist, I returned from a month-long mongering trip in China and Philippines. During the trip I had occasional assistance from Viagra or Cialis, but it was more like a boost than a necessity. A few days after my return, I visited my endocrinologist and she repeated the testosterone test (as well as a bunch of other tests). Interestingly, my testosterone level was now within the normal range. Consequently, I elected not to treat the low testosterone condition at that time.

Although I did not tell my endocrinologist this, I attribute the improved testosterone level to my mongering activities. Hence I claim that mongering is good for your health (and health insurance companies should be forced to pay for weekly "therapy" with local service providers :-).

Unfortunately, I've had no mongering options since then (long personal story omitted) and another testosterone test, ordered by my new PCP this past Spring, again showed a below-normal testosterone level. So I returned to the endocrinologist and began testosterone replacement therapy this past Summer. I can tell you it has made me feel a whole lot more vibrant & robust... plus I'm now getting spontaneous nocturnal erections again.

Your comments also spurred me to see if my prolactin level had ever been measured. Turns out the answer is yes, 2 years ago, and it was in the normal range. But it also seems the prolactin level is increased by stress, and I've had lots of stress during these past two years. Maybe I can convince my endocrinologist to measure my prolactin level again.
No Worries, as far as i know cabergoline is available on the net, with the dsiclaimer "This is not tested for human consumption" or along those lines to avoid legal and regulatory issues. I'm not advising people to go out and experiment but would love to hear from someone who has ever dealt with these type of drugs before.

Interestingly enough marijuana releases heaps of Dopamine into the brain, excessive use can even cause psychosis. But since it doesn't block out prolactin I'm not sure what it might do to help reduce refractory periods between erections. For anyone who's ever had marijuana you have to admit you do feel horny, only if you havn't had too much.

Well everybody is different, but taking vitamin V three times a day sounds excessive!

I split tablets and take a half-tablet 30 minutes before action (assuming there is some foreplay as well, so the main event is around the 60 minute zone for maximum effect). And although the effects are strongest within the recommended timeframe (1-3 hours) I find the effects do linger and are conveniently evident in the morning for a second round. So multiple doses within a few hours sounds like overkill to me.

If anticipating multiple rounds, like at a FKK, I would take a dose just before the first round, more as a confidence booster, but mostly relying on nature for the first shot, and vitamin V for quick reloading and the second bout.

    Blue Magic

This is cross-posted from Germany FKK, where we were having a prolonged discussion of viagra that more properly belongs here.
    *****************************************************

I guess the best place for this discussion is under "Special Interests -
Viagra" but since we are here, I will put in my 2 cents worth.

I do find Viagra somewhat desensitizing, so it is a mixed blessing.
Yes, I feel like a man of steel, but sometimes with no happy ending.
So better for the girl, but a mixed blessing for me.

Thus it is most useful when you are trying to impress or please the girl.
But also useful if you are trying to perform in imperfect circumstances.
I started taking them when my wife was pretty non-responsive -
    in part because she was not doing much to get me going, so I needed a boost;
and in part because I thought rocking her world might change her attitude,
which it did. Now I mix it up judiciously, no pills for normal pleasure,
but a little boost every now and then to spice things up.

I also found the little blue pills useful when stepping out.
Initially a nervous philanderer, I blew a couple of opportunities
by drinking too much or being otherwise too nervous to perform.
The blue pill gives you a real boost and more confidence.
    Don't discount the placebo effect.

The other benefit is that Viagra tends to extend your staying power,
post-climax. So if you are banging a girlfriend, more chance to keep
giving her joy after your own happy ending. But this may not be a good
thing if you are using a condom - you may be tempted to continue
pumping and risk the thing coming off or spilling.

But being superman is less essential if it is her job to please me - if she is a pro.
Nevertheless, I took some Vitamin V when visiting an FKK for the first time.
I wanted to make sure that I could fully take advantage of the experience.
Viagra does make you last longer and reload faster. After 15 years of
marriage, I no longer know how often I CAN do it in a few hours -
I am lucky to get once in the evening and once in the morning.
Thus, given the desensitizing effect of Vitamin V combined with
the less-than-ideal early morning offerings at the Palace, I had to
upgrade to BBBJs from both women to be certain of a happy ending.

But it was also kind of ego-boosting to have a girl come onto me,
and for me to put her off by saying I had just finished a session
and needed time to recharge, then for her to slip her hand into
my robe and exclaim that clearly I was ready to go already!

But in an ideal world, the pro would be responsible for making
Mr Happy happy, and I would leave enhancers for when I needed to perform.

Overall, I would say that Cialas has less of a de-sensitizing effect than Viagra,
and is of course longer lasting, but there can be other side effects.

it seems that increasing the level of dopamine in the brain can increase the libido. that is, unlike viagra or cialis, it actually increases sexual desire and it works equally well in both men and women. for example, patients with parkinson's disease are usually put on drugs that increase the level of dopamine in the brain and they frequently develop "sexual disinhibition disorder" as an unwanted side effect.

one cannot be given dopamine directly as this will not cross the blood-brain barrier. instead, patients are given a dopamine precursor, l-dopa, which can cross the blood-brain barrier. l-dopa is then readily converted (in both the body and the brain) into dopamine. but converting l-dopa into dopamine in the body is not what the doctors want to happen for two reasons: (1) not as much l-dopa reaches the brain, requiring much higher doses of l-dopa in order to get the desired response, and (2) the dopamine generated in the body will create hypertension and other unwanted side effects. so, when the patients are given l-dopa, they are also given a drug called carbidopa. carbidopa by itself has no effect and it cannot cross the blood-brain barrier. however, carbidopa prevents the conversion of l-dopa into dopamine. consequently, giving carbidopa in conjunction with l-dopa prevents the conversion of l-dopa into dopamine in the body and therefore allows more of the l-dopa to reach the brain where it will be converted into dopamine. this means that lower doses of l-dopa can be given to achieve the desired increase of dopamine in the brain (and one won't develop unwanted side-effects like hypertension either). benserazide is used instead of carbidopa in canada and britain but is not approved in the usa.

it turns out that there is an herbal available otc that supplies high amounts of l-dopa. it goes by various names such as "velvet bean" or "mucuna pruriens" and was used long ago (in india) to treat parkinson's disease. its not very expensive either. unfortunately, there does not appear to be any herbal equivalent to carbidopa so, as noted above, most of the l-dopa one receives by taking velvet bean is converted into dopamine in the body and only a modest fraction of this l-dopa reaches the brain.

dopamine has many functions in the brain including roles in behavior, cognition, motor activity, motivation & reward, sexual arousal, sleep, mood, attention, and learning. below-normal dopamine concentrations can cause parkinson's disease and are thought to contribute to attention deficit disorder. above-normal dopamine concentrations have been associated with schizophrenia. here are some related links

i could go on but i'll stop here. the above has enough keywords and phrases to speed you along on your own web-based research (in case you are interested in learning more). remember that wikipedia is your friend.

once again, i am not recommending that anyone self-administer velvet bean or other herbal supplements. dopamine is a powerful neurotransmitter and i'd be extremely cautious about screwing around with neurotransmitters. but i would be interested in hearing from anyone who has tried velvet bean and what effects they have noticed. in particular, has this increased your libido?
    very interesting.

    Tadalifil Order Update

i just noticed that my email in-box received a nice follow-up note on 10/18/08. it reviewed the order i had placed one month earlier and stated that the charge would appear on my credit card as "paid4tabs.com". then it went on to offer me a 7% discount on any future orders and concluded by providing contact information as follows:

just now i popped my first pill from them. i will report on the efficacy later (soon). i want to say that i like the sturdy foil-backed bubble pack they come in. its easy to take some scissors and clip out a single pill while leaving it encased in its foil-backed plastic bubble. then this single pill can be carried in my wallet, secure from mechanical damage, spills, etc.

edit: it has been 21 hours since i took my first pill. the effects are good, comparable to the same dose of branded cialis, and i expect the effects to taper off over the next 15 hours. overall, i give this supplier (and the product that they purvey) two thumbs up. i have no complaints at all.

today, 10/06/08, i received a small light green envelope postmarked 9/23/08 airmail from india (51 rupees). the envelope was well sealed with my name, address & phone number hand-written on the front. the return address, which was stamped on the back, read

    p.o. box no. 773
    s.p. college post office
    pune-4411 030. india

inside was a slightly smaller white sealed envelope with a printed label bearing my name, address & phone number along with a date (24 sep) and some other codes/markings.

inside this white envelope were the pills i ordered, 60 tadalfil tablets (20 mg each), plus the promised bonus of 4 sildenafil soft-tablets (100 mg each).

the sildenafil tablets were sealed in a blister pack with foil backing and a stamp indicating they were manufactured in jun 08 and would expire may 10.

the tadalafil tablets were sealed in blister packs, 10 tablets per pack, with a foil backing. three blister packs were stapled to a white piece of paper and there were two such groups of 3 packs. a stamp on the foil backing of each pack indicated they were manufactured in may 08 and would expire in apr 11.

also enclosed was an information sheet, printed on both sides. one side showed what appeared to be an official looking certificate of analysis for quality control pertaining to the tadalafil tablets. this was dated 12 june 2008 and gave a manufacturing date of jun 08 with an expiration date of apr 11 along with the results of various tests (weight, diameter, thickness, microbial limit, and an assay of active ingredients). on the other side was a nice little printed note (dear customer, you have ordered a quality generic product... blah blah) along with the usual instructions for use of the sort you would normally get with any prescription drug.

a smaller sheet, also printed on both sides, said they included the extra pack of sildenafil pills to show their gratitude and also made various declarations (that the pills were manufactured in india, that they comply with indian law, that they are not a copy or counterfeit of any patented product, that they do not sell these pills directly in the usa or elsewhere, that they were purchased for personal use only and are not for resale, etc).

that's it. everything seems to be perfectly in order.

next is the question of how well these pills perform. i'll need to get back to you on that.

    Viagra/Kamagra

For those in the UK, I've been buying Kamagra pills from these guys for about 1 year now and the product is legitimate. Its definetely not as powerful as a real Viagra pill (Id say a 100mg Kamagra = 25mg real Viagra), so sometimes I take 2, but for the price you can't beat it. Free delivery and usually within 1 week (Im in London).
