Investors who put their money into the business model of German hospitals and thus put immense pressure on them are currently losing a lot of money. German hospitals are no longer allowed to perform unnecessary operations in order to keep capacities free. Unfortunately, unnecessary operations account for a large part of their profits, such as cosmetic surgery or back surgery, which could be avoided by physiotherapy.

I am so sorry for the investors.

Assuming a private clinic only has one ventilator available. Who gets the treatment? The millionaire or the guy with the 9 millimeter?

I don't want to be the millionaire in this situation!

Have politicians ever told the full truth or do they always just act like they do?

Reload, no need to aim accurate, then fire at will!

    Doomsday!

(I usual sleep till afternoon, but I could partake a bit later. Promise.).

    Tic Toc

Only the income of a person determines its value. Hospitals should only treat valuable people. This is the life.

I am not a cop or a doc or a fireman in the actual sense. I am just a jester with the skills to let a whole club jump around. But now I am demoted to be only a irrelevant human.

Time to grab guns, grenades and bazookas. War of the classes, now!

Are you with me? If not, iron your suit one more time and call your investment advisor. Could be your last call before you look right into the barrel. Time is up homie.

BTW, somebody I know name the virus Carola. Nice idea I guess.

We just need to love her before we are all going to die!

Controls on A4 , Strasburg and Switzerland, but not with Belgium, NL or Luxemburg. As told me a girl about GT: not the end of the world. Still escorts in Paris. Much worse for me is no ski, really sad time. Never had a winter with no ski since I was 2 yo.

When fat or with diabetes or heart or breathing problems or with old parents, better to be careful about this virus.

I didn't hear when visiting on this week end Sharks twice and Oase, they would close. For sure, less than 100 people at Oase, not sure more at Sharks where they reduced number of girls. NRW is much worse than Hessen.

I've been asked by my foreign friends what did Singapore do to contain the spread of COVID19. The credit goes to healthcare professionals, front line staff and investigation officers.

Here is a summary of my perspective, for the benefit of my international friends.

In the early stages of the global outbreak, Singapore looked badly hit with 58 cases, the highest number outside of China. Till date, Singapore had zero deaths.

Here is what worked for Singapore:

    1) Free Testing and Treatment.

In healthcare systems, there are 2 known barriers which prevents people from coming forward to be treated, "poverty penalty" and understanding how to navigate the healthcare system (and insurance pay outs). Singapore removed both barriers by allowing COVID19 tests and treatment to be free for Singaporeans and foreigners. Additionally, test results are received in 3 - 6 hours. (Kudos to Singapore's Veredus Laboratories for making portable COVID19 tests available since 01 Feb).

Currently, all COVID19 tests will continue to be paid by the Singapore government. Foreigners will have to bear the cost of COVID19 treatment in Singapore from 7 March onwards.

    2) Serology Testings.

Current tests for COVID19 test looks for genetic materials of the virus in saliva, nasal, oral swabs using the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). However, these tests couldn't identify people who went through an infection, recovered and cleared the virus from their bodies.

Serology testing, on the other hand, looks for previous infection by detecting antibodies to the virus. This type of testing is invaluable for surveillance purpose.

Singapore adopted the Serology testing early in the fight. Together with the test results and contact tracing, it created an invaluable time-motion map to identify breakout clusters and implement community containment measures effectively.

    3) GovTech used Whatsapp Chat to disseminate information to the population It also uses AI to translate information into our 4 national languages.

    4) Collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the Police's Criminal Investigation Unit to do effective contact tracing.

(And other pointers raised by WEF, which you can read here https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/...id19-outbreak/).

The common refrain is "Singapore is a small country so it is easy to manage", but there were odds against Singapore:

    A) High Human Traffic.

Singapore have a population of 6 million, but we have 65.6 million people transiting through our airport annually. In pre-COVID19 days, there was 180 K people passing through Singapore daily. The fact that Singapore had the highest number of cases outside of China during the early days of the outbreak, shows how vulnerable Singapore is to external factors.

    B) Little Response Time.

Unlike the US and EU which are fighting the mass breakouts 2 months after COVID19 was first reported on 31 December 2019, Singapore had a shorter response time to roll out screening measures. The WHO declared COVID19 as a Public Health Emergency on 23 January. That same day, Singapore had her first confirmed case from a Chinese national who left Wuhan 1 day before the city's lockdown.

    C) Densely Packed Population.

Singapore's densely packed housing estates meant human-to-human transmission could spread quickly through the community. Based on The World Bank's data, Singapore's population density is 7,796 people per km2. In comparison, Italy have 200 people per km2, South Korea have 515 people per km2 and Taiwan have 652 people per km2.

This is why effective contact tracing and fast quarantine was so critical to Singapore.

Travel restrictions and cities' lockdown are just one of many steps. Besides citizenry efforts (hand washing, self-imposed isolation), Singapore made wise decisions early in the fight to contain COVID19 spread. I'm sure the other Asian cities (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau) made great steps too. Let's hope the world can pull through this, together.

I appreciate that your observations are your observations but other people have slightly different take on this. My co worker takes a bus from Weewauken to mid town and another comes from Scarsdale. In our NYC office, less than 10% showed up even on Wednesday. Since then we went totally wFH.
