i’ll simply provide an update, run through the ladies i spent time with and try to define why bernd’s is indeed so special, and sadly venture a guess on how it probably will be ruined in the coming 6 months or so. not to worry though, bernd’s has survived, i understand, for over 20 years and has and will probably overcome any adverse effects and shine again for another 20 years. i am very optimistic and i’ll return as often as possible.

don’t get me wrong, in my opinion every isg member should experience bernd’s and its unique atmosphere, i hope that they do and i am afraid that many of them will.

bernd’s cannot stand up to a lot of visitors. it is too small and when the rooms are full for hours on end – it does become much too small. as well, it is a very local and german club, with locals from near and further afield who use it as a well worn and comfortable pub and meeting place. they will become upset and i fear unfriendly if a lot of “outsiders” fill the place up every day and they have to wait for a room and girl, the place is overcrowded, and few of the visitors speak german.

so enjoy and experience bernd’s. it is a one-off, not to everyone’s taste but it is amazing. i hope that i am wrong about the potential looming crisis, but even if i am right with more than 20 years under its belt, bernd’s will weather the storm, get back onto an even keel and the stammgastes will return as happy campers.

i am very thankful for isg and our members who have made me aware of bernd’s and provided me with a memorable and probably unique experience. i will return.

Drive south on the A3 from Cologne (Köln) towards Frankfurt. Turn east onto the A560 autobahn. This is just after the first service station you reach after leaving the Köln area. This autobahn quickly terminates and runs into the B8. Go up the B8 about 5km (most of this is uphill). Miss the first right hand signpost saying “Lichtenberg”, and take the second, which is a very sharp right, almost coming back on yourself. It’s easy to miss these turnings, so it may be easier if you just keep on driving until you find the local petrol station on the left hand side. Do a U-turn and go back about 300m and turn left, then bear to the right. This is the “very sharp right” that I just mentioned when coming the other way. Then go about 1km until you see the Hotel-Restaurant Reuter on the right. Almost immediately turn left into Schieferhof Street. Number 28 is down on the right. Park in number 24, where it says “Privat Parkplatz”.

From Koln by train - would the easiest way be to get off at Hennef (Sieg) and then take a cab there?

Jackyo is correct about taking the train to Hennef (Sieg). There are taxi's directly in front of the station. It will cost you about 12-15 euro from there and take about 5-10 minutes. If you take the bus you will need to have a really good sense of direction and a very detailed map because this hof is a regular looking house in a regular looking neighborhood. There is a 28 on the front of the house but that is the only thing the will tell you that you have arrived. For the price of the taxi I suggest you go that way. It will take a lot of pressure off as you would undoubtably wander around loosing time. The bus runs about three times per hour and if you are determined to go that way, you will save a few euros, you can look up the schedule on the German Rail web site http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/e put in the station you are coming from and going to. When you get the report back you can click on the station. Then go to the other forms of transportation and you will see the bus schedules to Lichtenberg. Just take the taxi, it is easier for everyone, so we don't worry about you wandering around in the dark of night in Lichtenberg cursing your sense of direction and wasting time that would be better spent watching 15 beautiful naked women.

Remember, you are paying the enterance fee to enjoy yourself. Do that! You pay the girl to give you what you want, do that. Have a nice time and let others, especially the girls, know you are enjoying yourself and you will have a very good time. Bernds is tops for a raw FKK. Let us know your experience. Take note of who is there and who you enjoyed the most.

You can also take a bus (forget the bus number) and walk from the bus stop on the Landstrasse (believe its called Oberdorf) towards the cluster of houses to the right.

I am an Asian American male thinking of going to Bernd's while I'm in Colgone. I speak English perfectly but don't speak German, could that be a problem going to Bernards? Are they a pro-German only club? Any help would be apprecaited.. thanks
