I had an advance prepaid purchase with breakfast. Got this because of too high prices in Frankfurt during Messe.

Okay hotel, no free wifi, but 24 (continuous hours) 9 euro. About a 15/20 minute walk to bahnhof or 5 euro by taxi. Tried walking twice and got lost both times. Take a taxi. Taxi from hotel to Oase usually 10. 12 euro each way. Hotel will call taxi.

I did see another hotel near the bahnof, on the other side of tracks. 5 minutes or less from station. I passed it during one of the times I was lost going to station to go into Frankfurt, which is about a 30 minute trip to main HBF. Google maps shows it.

S-Bahn is very safe. I have made the trip several times with the schedule from Fridrichsdorf as noted in the other responses. Recently though, I have stayed at the Mercure in Friedrichsdorf. I avoids the 'rush' to get the last train back, and have paid between 50. 80 Euro for the room depending on the date. The other advantage is the front desk is open 24 hours, so coming & going is very easy, unlike other hotels in the area. I typically get an 11 AM flight back to the US. So the 7:20 AM train from Friedrichsdorf to the airport gets you there in plenty of time. Have a GREAT time!

Last train S-bahn from Friedrichsdorf back is at 12:08 or 12:12 from Seulburg if you are running short of time. Last train U-bahn from Gonzenheim is a bit later, I forget what time. Get DB Navigator App for your smart phone. After that there is 4:38AM from Friedrichsdorf, I think.

Last train from S-Bahn has security staff. Safety is not a problem. I am not German but many people think I look German for some strange reason. Its not that important to be able to speak German. The taxi drivers can speak English. As long as you can say "Oase" (Oh-are-zer) you are fine.
