Since this was your first time at both places, you can be forgiven to think that they are the same each and every day. They are not!

The food varies quite a bit in each place. Sometimes it is better in Oase, and sometimes in FKKW. Also, on summer days each place has a bbq going in the early evening. What is alwasy different between FKKW and Oase in the food department is this: at FKKW there is something to eat set out all day, whereas this is generally not the case at Oase.

Drinks: both places serve you as much non-alcoholic drink as you can handle. At FKKW that also include non-alcoholic beer. Plus, at FKKW you can now buy beer and mixed drinks as well.

Girls: I have seen plenty of gorgeous model-type bodies at FKKW. Beating Irina or Olga or Vanessa or Betty (all at FKKW) in the gorgeous body competiton is very hard. But like I said, who is on shift is different from day to day.

Extremely detailed and useful directions, Rain City! Thanks! I might add just one thing for American first-timers who are going to go this route. My planes from the States have always arrived in the wee early hours of the morning (7:30a.m. or so) which meant for me that I'd essentially been up all night, and after the long process of collecting your belongings and processing through customs you can be pretty out of it. So remember this: When you arrive at the hauptbahnhof from the airport, you are ALREADY underground, which is where the local trains are. If you sleepily follow the vast majority of the off-loading train passengers (I did, the first time), who will be earnestly hoofing it up stairs and escalators because they're on their way to work, you'll end up on the ground-level part of the hauptbahnhof. If you happen to bumble onto one of THOSE trains by mistake you're going to end up in Paris or some other far-off place.
The hauptbahnhof can be confusing and harried at first (and second, and third). If you have any doubts about what you're doing, ASK. A fair amount of Germans speak at least some English and they're generally pretty friendly, unless they're already late for work.

For anyone who like myself is not over-keen to race back into Frankfurt, there is a very agreeable hotel in the centre of Friedrichsdorf, Arkadia by name, Tel. ++49 6172 7620. I booked a very nice room through the website www.hotel.de for just 52 euros (really excellent room with full cooking facilities), and W-LAN is just 3 euros for 30 minutes. For those on an even tighter budget, the small hotel Zum Löwen has rooms for as little as 25 euros (ask for nr. 2). Enjoy!

This topic was covered a few times, and I really appreciated the information some members provided in the past. I wanted to contribute to the board from my own experience as well.

1. At Frankfurt airport.
a) When you arrive at Frankfurt airport, you need to go to terminal B to catch the train to Frankfurt main train station (Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof).
b) There, you need to find the depressingly confusing ticket machine (see the picture 1).
c) First, choose your language, then buy a ticket to Friedrichsdorf (punch in 5125, see picture 2).
d) The machine will ask you which route you would like to take. Choose via Bad Homburg.
e) At this point, you can choose either a day ticket or one-way. If you buy a day ticket, you can use it on the way back as well. If you buy a one-way ticket, you need to do this routine at Friedrichsdorf train station again, which is no big deal. And I found buying two one-way tickets is cheaper than buying a day ticket.
f) Then look at your train schedule from the airport to the main train station in the time schedule sheet (see picture 3). Typically, the train leaves from platform 1.
g) Once you catch the train, you will arrive at the main train station within 20 - 25 minutes.

c) Once you are on the taxi, it takes 5 - 6 minutes and around 8 Euro to Oase.

4. On the way back
It's exactly the same routine, but in the reverse order. I encourage you to check the time of the last train back to Frankfurt at Friedrichsdorf station before taking the taxi. When I went there last time (it was on Saturday), the last train leaves Friedrichsdorf at 0:05. So I made sure that I was able to catch that trian.

Visited Palace and Oase last week. Oase won on all counts except perhaps the food, tho even that was ok and the service was much more friendly. Of course Oase benefits from the very large garden (yes, what is happening to the tennis court?).
