There are options for hotels for all budgets, but don't expect much for $50 USD. For $75-100 USD you will have a decent hotel (think run of the mill Marriott in a medium sized USA City).

And no, you don't have to take any services you don't want. You can just go, soak in the pool, eat some of the food (included with admission) and leave. Or just go, screw and leave. But massage and grooming services are affordable so I would take advantage before heading up to the room.

Shouldn't have any issues with the girl-- you choose them, and it's a standard course. If you have chemistry you might get extra but as long as you treat the girl with respect you shouldn't get less than anyone else.

Things have really changed in Macau as $50-75 gets you a tent in Senado Square LOL and bathroom at Starbucks.

I would avoid Macau now anyway as it's just not worth the return IMHO. I rather go to Phils or even Colombia as the peso dollar ratio is now 2750-1 compared to 7. 97 to 1 in MOPs. They are pricing themselves out of the world especially the saunas as $300 for a hot see gal can be had in China for much less however all newbies wanting the "Sauna" experience than Macau is good.

Thanks for detailed info, I'm in of those nice type guys who wouldn't know if they get scammed till end of day hearing about it from other people, some of these girls are good at manipulating people, especially at times I don't want to be considered cheap but then again dong want to over pay or tip when you shoukdnt.

Okay let me be more detailed, as I watched this more closely and found 3 scams which make me want to avoid 18 (except 18 has the best lineup).

1. Robe girls are really annoying and try to force a tip even though sign says "optional" they will tell you you must tip 100 or 200, those are the options. I'm sure they are not tips but the management squeezing customers so I do not believe girls get the money. $100 to hand you a towel?

2. Viet's are all working a scam doing backroom activities off the books. If you want it that's fine, but expect a noisy room, dodgy service, and have to pay cash off the bill. If you are going to do it, negotiate up front. Overall I find them annoying they are yapping all day while massaging you.

3. Big warning on add ons. The girls are priced say $2000 for normal, $2200 for models but the guy will show you a paper listing:

$2200 + $225= $2450 with some Chinese words on each, and he gets you to nod OK.

IF you pester to ask why its $2450 not $2200 as I did, he will say $2200 is girl, $225 is soap and some outfit, total is $2450.

The +$225 is a total ripoff. You get a tube of soap and some goofy outfit the girl doesn't even wear to sneak off another $225.

In fact when I questioned it, he took me to the side away from all other clientele to explain and I said remove that, and he did before going in.

I really love Macau due to lack of scams (compared to say Vegas, etc). Most other sauna are legit no scams, so this is a shame they are squeezing clients like this to make it feel so dodgy.

Also most of the 18 population suddenly are priced as models, similar to Rio. Used to be real models are tall, now anybody is a "model".

But I know for sure that at the higher end saunas, ie the saunas known for having the best lineup of girls, there is a surcharge if a customer chooses not to have a full session (sex). I am not sure if having a thigh message meets the no charge requirement or not. It probably does. The reason I do not know the exact details of the "sauna minimum charge" is because I always take a full session with a girl so it never affects my tab. The no session surcharge is in the neighborhood of a few hundred MOP. A friendly receptionist will inform you more about this fine before you enter the locker room and undress; the point of no return.

Just bring you visa card, don't think about what it is costing, and have a great time. Macau is amazing. You only live once!

Saunas will have a minimum charge in the area of 400 to 500 MOP.

If the services you buy (any) exceeds that amount you will be ok for some 12 hrs.

Of course the full service (1 HR soapie) will get you through any minimum as it is quite a high price.

Credit cards are ok and accepted but they might add a 3% fee on top of your bill and prices will then be charged in HKG $: a minimum diffefnece but still a difference not in your favour.

- fishy massage selling by Vietnamese off the books. They don't tell you its off books until later then you have to go pay some lady downstairs. Very dodgy. They sold my friends and I a HJ massage w / 2-3 girls for 1500, which was hit-and-miss (some guys loved it, mine was so-so) then after said its not on the bill so pay some lady who will meet us downstairs. I imagine the management is in on it but not the owner.

Anyways I will avoid 18, too dodgy. Just didn't dig the non koscherness.

Overall MFM is good.

1. If I were you, I would pay up and stay at either the Rio, Metropole, Golden Dragon, or Casa Real Hotels. All these hotels are approximately 3. 5 to 4* and priced in the low $80's / night from Sunday Night to Thursday Night. On weekends the hotel rates are much higher. Don't come to Macau on Friday or Saturday night. Compare the various rates at Agoda and Booking dot com over time and good deals pop up. Check with Travel Advisor for overall reviews. There are cheaper rooms available at pensions and places too low class to be listed on Agoda, but they are a real drop in service and quality. If $20/ night is really a problem for you, skip Macau and head to AC or Pattaya. That is not a knock, it is just some useful advice. If I were on a tight budget, I would stay at Rio for 82/ night and be comfortable and in the middle of all the action.

3. You will have no problem taking any girl in the lineup you want. The #1 thing the saunas offer their customers is SERVICE. You will be treated in a first class manner the minute you walk in until the moment you walk out no matter what your nationality or age providing you have a minimal level of decent hygiene and have no open sores on your body. Ha Ha. Now all that said, I think it is very incumbent on you, the customer, to select a girl in the lineup wisely. If a girl is not giving you eye contact or at least a faint smile, I would scratch her off your list of possibles. A girl's body language is the key guide to having a great session over having just an OK one. I assure you that in Rio, Famiia Nobre, and East Spa there will be plenty of girls imploring you with their eyes and smiles to pick them. It is not necessarily personal if a girl is not giving you a positive signal. She may have just come off an exhausting session with another customer and not be in the mood so soon thereafter. In any case, there is no shortage of attractive and willing young girls to choose from.

Just bring you visa card, don't think about what it is costing, and have a great time. Macau is amazing. You only live once!

Having been to FN, Darling, Rio, Landmark, and East Spa recently, I decided to try one of the lesser reviewed saunas. Golden Sauna seemed to fit the bill.

Golden is a little unusual in several ways. First, is the entrance-- it's off a side street across the main street from the Waldo Hotel. Very unassuming unless you're looking for it. You enter through a little mall through a building that looks like there would be stores and such, but instead there is only a guy sitting at a podium near a little lobby with an elevator. Here is where you'll know you're in the right place since there are posters for Golden that make it clear what you'll find upstairs.

It's not quite as nice as say Rio, but it's nice enough. It's also a very small club, the entire place is a room with about 24 or so chairs. I went in mid-afternoon, so there weren't that many girls. And here comes the second unusual aspect of Golden (which I think was mentioned before in previous reviews), in other clubs, girls only come out during "showtime" or when you ask for a lineup. Here, the girls roam about and solicit customers like at an American strip club.

As soon as I entered, a petite girl in white from Harbin grabbed my arm and offered to show me the ropes and explain the system. While she was sweet, she wasn't my type, and I sent her away after a bit of chit chat. I felt bad for her because I could see her trying really hard with all the new customers coming in.

For me, a really cute, skinny girl wearing a sort of camo Tarzan and Jane outfit came over shortly thereafter, and the combination of her really toned body (she works out), bubbly personality, and cute face got me. The session ended up being one of my more memorable ones, though another unusual bit: she claimed not to have a phone, so no trading info. Interestingly enough, one of the Vietnamese massage girls also claimed the same thing. Probably untrue, just something they're instructed or have learned to say.

The food here is decent, but then, I don't go to saunas for the food. Did not try any thigh massage services. Later, when there were more girls (I left around 7 pm), they did showtime, and there were maybe a good 30-40 girls. They did something similar to Rio with a little rotating show where you get to get up close with several of the girls.

One other interesting thing-- my girl had a "twin" of sorts, another girl who was dressed exactly the same (though taller, and not as cute). She seemed to be high or something because she was jumping up and down, couldn't stop fidgeting and talking a mile a minute. I'll bet she's crazy in the sack-- but not my type.

Overall, Golden was a nice change of pace. On the one hand, it can get tiresome to fend off the girls if you just need to relax. On the other hand, it can be nice to test you chemistry a little bit before going to the room (though I didn't see all the girls out, I think only some of the girls are out chatting customers up). If you are really looking for a relaxing experience, you won't find it here -- it's extremely noisy, they play loud EDM type music and lights are going off. They probably have a relaxation or sleeping area, but most other saunas you can do that anywhere inside as it's more tranquil.

Is it possible to go early in the afternoon or morning? Is their a good selection and les crowd?

#1. Yes, the saunas are open 24/7. #2. No, the selection is much better at night although that is not to say that you won't find a girl to your liking in the morning or early afternoon. You might. And some saunas like East Spa offer a discount on service if taken before 6 pm.
