first the second question:

i have been to a lot of hotels and none ever made any problems (rio, golden dragon, beverly, lisboa)

even if there was stated "no guests after 23:00", i was in a cheap hotel in the inner harbour once, one night i came back and took the stairs, i the first floor i found like 10 girls sitting in front of their rooms, playing cards, asked for a price, their quoted 300 for 30 minutes, i was too drunk to negotiate but i guess i could have gotten her down, anyway if you keep your eyes open in the inner harbour area you will find a lot of places like this, but usually they don't like caucasians very much,

On the same level as the ferry departure gate (s) you'll see a number of travel agencies selling hotel packages. Two or three specialize in, um, sex packages. You'll notice them from the posters in their windows with pics of seductive women and the word SEX in letters about a foot tall. You can't miss 'them. A few years ago it was from these very shops that I realized Macau would be a very fine destination, indeed much more than gambling, for my required work visa run.

I'd been wanting to go to Macau for years now, and finally managed it on New Year's eve. I had it all planned out, I was going to have lunch with some friends in HK, head to Sheung Wan, buy a ticket, leave at around 3. 45 and arrive at the place at around 5. I was going to have my fun for 90 minutes, and then I was going to head straight back to HK, and be back in time for dinner at around 7. 30-8 and count down with some other friends. Oh, the things I would do for sex, and oh, how naive I was.

I went to Sheung Wan a little late, and just went into the nearest travel agency (you have to go to the quiet area, and look out for the agencies that have posters of all the places in the front. It feels seedy, you'll see it) and bought a ticket. You don't have to compare prices, they're all the same price as long as you're getting the same package deal. I paid $1620 for a 90 minute two girl service. The guy got me the ticket for the sauna and the ferry ticket. It was all good, I got there fine and quickly took a taxi right to the door, chatting with the taxi driver the whole time. Apparently the hottest sauna right now is 18, where he claimed that there were over 200 girls available every night, and that the Chinese people prefer it because it is more of a club than a brothel, where the girls mingle with the customers and they can spend as long as they want there. I would be very interested if I wasn't under time restraint. If there was no agreed time I doubt I'd ever leave to be honest.

I paced the street a few times until the innocent looking people were out of sight such as old ladies and small children (it's not exactly on a big street, but it is open enough). As soon as I walked in, I was greeted first by the sight of the fishbowl right in front of me, maybe 3 or 4 metres inside the front door, then by the very cheerful mamasan who quickly said to me to choose this one specific girl or a double service, for only $1880. My view of the price is that it is very good value, you have to pay more than double that for a far inferior service for double girl fun in different countries. And the free ferry tickets, and for the short amount of travel comparatively, is very very good.

I was worried that my expectations were too high going in but I was very pleasantly surprised that it was pretty much exactly what I expected, and the choice of girl was again not the best, but still very good. Perhaps a more interesting comparison might be made between these '5 Star' establishments such as the Rio, Emperor and 18, and what some might call '2nd Tier', but still with high quality ladies, such as Sanado, Familia Nobre, etc.

Funny enough, having visited both in November it has been my impression Emperor offered a few more CIS (or allegedly so)! Maybe wrong night.

What is genearally missing or scarcely available are some asian exoctic grils. I refer to Korean and Mongolian.

My two cents on this: Rio has the best facilities and ambiance. I think of it as a high end city club for men. Everything there is first class. I enjoyed the Japanese bath area, the private thigh massage rooms, and the large lounge area where all customers (members, to stay with my analogy) have plenty of space. Of course the girls were fantastic and there was real depth to the lineup. Rio is my favorite.

That said I also enjoyed East Spa. East is high end too, but the place is smaller than Rio. I enjoyed the private massage rooms, but I wasn't inclined to partake of the sauna area.
