When I was living in Rio and learning Portuguese, I also started collecting common and useful phrases. I found a copy of Hot International (no longer in publication), selected the most useful phrases and enhanced it with a whole lot more. Then, I hired a local Portuguese interpreter to add a whole bunch of Rio idoms and carioca slang.

The result was about 40 pages of useful Portugues words and phrases broken down into PG, are, X and XXX. I was going to publish it and sell it on the internet but alas, I lost interest. I spent about 1, 000 hours and over $1, 000 compiling the whole damn thing. I even hired a guy to assemble it for me in a word format.

Anyway, I still have it if anybody is interested (and there seems to be a lot of interest in how to talk dirty with the garotas). I can e-mail it to anybody in it's current form.

Cost ya a whopping $20 to my paypal account just for the time and expense involved in putting it together. I don't expect to get rich with it but do feel the time and effort is worth something.

It started as a labor of love and quickly turned into a labor. A big one that had no definitive ending until I just said. "Halt" Stop the insanity.
