Thanks for the advice. I met a guy today at work that goes there all the time. My plan is to buy him a couple of beers one nite and hopefully get more info. He did tell me that the club action at nite is the way to go. Also that if you are going to be there for a while there is good GFE action in Iquitos, which I like with a little "roman" mixed in.

Then again, I still might end up in habana or cali next month instead. So many cities and not enough vacation time.

When it comes to mongering I would take Cuba way over Iquitos.

Iquitos is a place you go to see the Amazon River and the native Indians and wild animals. I didn't see that many girls in the "business" walking around the Plaza de Armas area. There were more trannies out at night than girls!

I admit that I didn't go to any nite clubs, so I can't comment on that but we did go to one bar on the other side of Iquitos (El Refugio) and the girls looked all haggerd and uninterested.

Havana has all kinds of girls around the town. I had no problem finding "action" there and other places. You don't have to look for it.

I am thinking about taking a "hobby"trip to Iquitos soon and I was hoping to get a little info. I really like cuba and was wondering how it compared to Cuba. Are you treated like a rockstar or are you just another gringo? Are the locals accesible,etc?Any info would greatly be appreciated!

When I was in Iquitos, me and my buddies stayed at the Victoria Regia Hotel, which I think is on Calle Ricardo Palma. Its a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas.

The rate was $35 a nite, and they had safes in the room. Its a nice hotel w/pool and over- priced restaurant. The one time I brought a chica in the room the front desk didn't seem to mind at all. At least they didn't say anything.

As far as the chica ripping you off, remember to hide the safe key.

I am planning a trip to Peru with a side journey to Iquitos. I enjoy having the girls stay toda la noche but I also enjoy having my money and valuables there in the morning when I wake up. Can anyone recommend a mid-range hotel that has room safes?

I have been the one year ago in Iquitos for a week and I saw three sex working only. The normal girls are very timid and it is hard to speak with them.
I had a very hard time in Iquitos in July-August.
There are many, many wonderful girls but they are untouchable.

Me and my buddies just finished staying in Iquitos for 4 days. The best part of the stay was going to the Belen Indian market, and on the Amazon on a tour. We saw various wild animals and indians: a jaguar, boa, Anaconda and monkeys. Stayed at the Hotel Victoria Regia ($35 a nite). There are a few cheaper hotels also, Real Hotel Iquitos, Hostel Europa, and Marona hotel.

But as for the good part, we didnt see very many hookers around the Malecon and Plaza de Armas (it was Easter week) mostly trannies, but on the last day as I was along the plaza a chunky gal by the name Jessica approached me for sex. We agreed on 20 sols, so we took a moto to my hotel. She gave me alot of hassle on paying her up front, but I finally talked her into paying after the sexo. She gave me a good chupa and started tongueing my balls, which I liked, so I asked her to tongue my ass also, which she agreed to for more money (50 sols). She really did a good job and was able to get off real fast.

But after the sexo she wanted more money than 50, which made me very mad. I eventually grabbed her arm and pushed her out the room and that was it for Jessica.

Anyway we´{re in Trujillo now. Ill have to see what the action is like. We came here because of the landslides in Machu Picchu and all the rain in Cusco.

I will be traveling to Lima for the first time in early June and plan to head straight for Iquitos. If someone could tell me how much and where to buy the cheapest ticket (Lima-Peru round trip) it would be appreciated. I would also appreciate suggestions on the best places to stay in the $5-$10 dollar range, perferably in or near an area with the highest concentration of nightlife.

imho, this city is a shit hole. sex is easily and cheaply available, but i still think visiting iquitos is a waste of time. there are tons of **** sex workers who look like 12 to 13 and up. short time sex with an adult sw should not cost more than 20 sols. j.g.

Two very different places, chicas aside. Cuzco is at very high altitude and is thus cool. Iquitos is on the banks of the Amazon and thus has extreme heat, near 100% humidity, lots of bugs, and of course yellow fever and malaria. Each is interesting in its own way. Cuzco has ancient ruins and is close to the Sacred Valley and Machu Pichu. Iquitos has little of historical interest but the flora and fauna are interesting.

My vote? Cusco all the way. Plenty of places to monger in either one but the non-mongering aspects of Cusco are far superior IMHO.

New monger here needing advice. A friend and I are heading to Peru early in April, and we need help deciding where to go. We only have one week and would like to either go to Cusco or Iquitos. DanDaMan has made them both sound very interesting. We mostly are interested in local girls if possible vs pros. Given our length of stay, where will we have the best luck and the most fun?

Off the subject, but in relation to your comment "But I never imagined I would see girls dressed in red bikinis for Christmas", I suggest you take a trip to Bondi Beach, Australia, or for that matter other parts of the Southern Hemisphere, not only will you see girls in bikinis for Christmas, you will see just as many topless (and very occasionally bottomless).

Reflections on Last Christmas, Iquitos-Style

Here in the Amazon it's hot and so is the action. The women are quite uninhibited. Consequently, the women don't wear much clothing here. But I never imagined I would see girls dressed in red bikinis for Christmas. Yes, the girls working in the gas stations here, pumping gas were dressed in red bikinis complete with Santa Claus hats.

Christmas here in the Amazon Jungle is quite surreal. I hope all of you can experience this magic place some day.
