The locals call it bele trocha and here in Iquitos a casa is known as a bordello. It is 5 buildings side by side where the chicas rent the rooms and stand in the doorways and ply their trade. Prices range from 10 soles to 20 soles, uncovered, covered, everything is negotiable. It is set up the same way as Trocodero is in Lima. Only open at night around 7 pm, 7 days a week. The number of girls ranged from 6 to probably 15 with room or doors available for another 10 or so. All locals, this place is not for the timid, but I didn't feel any pressing issues. One place had a 2 sole cover to see the girls. Plenty of local security for the girls and the business.

I was there at 730 pm, my moto taxista walked through each place with me the first time and then I bought him a beer and told him to hang out. I walked back through and took care of business. Don't forget everything is negotiable because once you pay and start to play if you want any extras, like the top off and you didn't negotiate it first, expect the phrase of "tu pagues me mas?"

The names of the bordellos are la chispa de amor, las cucardas and las cucardas star ant bele trocha. The area is known as bele trocha. It is located in districto San Juan near the airport. Their was plenty of moto taxistas waiting out front. It is on the street (dirt road) known as pasaje de Pucayacu and it is next to the compenero de los bomberas de San Juan. This is not an area with street adresses. It is located about 25 minutes from the plaza de armas, the centro of Iquitos.

It is what it is, I am glad I went, but if you never get here you will have missed nothing but the experience. I don't plan on going back.

If you need a guide in Iquitos, please let me recommend a young man that can pick you up at the airport and will give you good service for a fair price and he can use the work. He does not speak english, but knows Iquitos back and forth.

Hola todos, up and down the streets in all directions, talking to the locals and the girls working the streets are not here. I did find a chica sitting on a couch at the River Fox hotel which is at the corner of Fitzgcarrad and Nauta who said she would give me a very nice massage for 100 soles. She was sitting in the lobby of this hotel. I gave it a pass as she would not negotiate very much.

Note: Flights from the Iquitos airport go to Lima, Pucallpa and Tarapoto. There is no direct from flights here to Ecuador.

If you are physically fit to undertake long journeys by water in cramped accomodations such as sleeping in a hammock elbow-to-elbow with the locals...
I recommend the boat trip on the Rio Napo from Coca, Ecuador to Iquitos, Peru.
It may take a week or so.

The rewards? Lots of eye candy. The boat stops frequently to pick up passengers and cargo in the most unlikely spots and the scenery is beautiful.
Many women are to be seen along the way to suit any preferences. Although if you want to indulge, you would have to speak Spanish and also take along a Quechua dictionary as many locals only speak that Indian dialect fluently. The kids should be able to translate into Quechua for you though if you speak Spanish.

If you insist to spend some time in one of the villages along the river, go see the village headman first. It is a sign of respect to speak to him first, even if you don't speak Quechua. If you have buddy to travel with it would be better. One option is to get off the boat at one of the bigger towns (very few) such as Angoterro. It is about an 8 hour trip from Pantoja at the Ecuador border. You could spend the night here at the hotel Monte Cristo.
I have not been to that hotel, but the boat stops here. The boat docks around 9 p.m. and a bunch of women and girls get on board to sell fruit and chat with you. The next morning you could hire a reputable guide to take you to see the Seqoia Indian community. Stories I cannot confirm is that the village chief can have women sleep with you for the night.

I personally liked Pantoja as it is really out in the sticks and the locals rely on hunting for their meat. The border settlement is secured by an army contingent. If you are coming from Iquitos, buy some shotgun shells (20 gauge). I have seen a guy pay 4 soles for one shell. The locals hunt with 20 gauge shotguns. You would be surprised what you can get in trade for 20 gauge shells. If you are coming from Ecuador, I don't know if you can bring them from Ecuador. You could use Pantoja as your base and hire guides to take you to see the real jungle. Of course you could also ask these kind boatmen to take you to see some local women
Good health is important as the nearest hospital, in practical terms, is in Iquitos, 1000 km away.

If you have more time than money, this is the way to see the jungle.


There is also Pevas, less than a day by fast boat from Iquitos where you can see Boras and the Yaguas in a less commercial setting. I have not made it to this place yet, so can't recommend one way or another, but it has to be less commercial than Iquitos and there is tourism here.
You might get cheaper jungle tours here as well.

I recommend, highly the Maranon. It is nice, clean, great location, and very chica-friendly. In fact the night staff will fix you up with any kind of girl you want.

As for seeing wildlife, I agree with David, you'd have to go very very far away. Better off going to that reserve near Puno (I forget the name).

However, there is a "Butterfly Farm" a short boat ride from Iquitos. The woman who runs it also cares for abandoned and abused monkeys and other animals. I had a blast there. It's called Pulipitati or something like that. i spent hours playing with the monkeys, ant-eater, tapir, and watching her jaguar (behind wire, of course). Well worth the trip - 3 soles by mototaxi and 1 sol down the river.

The "zoo" is a waste of time and will make you sad.

1. I used to stay at the different El Dorados, IMHO overpriced for what you get. Suggest Hotel Safari next to the Malecon. Cheaper, good location, no problem bringing in girls. If you don´t have one, the bell-boy can fix you up. Phone 065225122. Bargain. No pool. Have to decide if the mini-pool in the El Dorado is worth an extra $50 a night.

2. All the wildlife around Iquitos has long ago been killed off. It is necessary to travel many hours by river to find anything which resembles real jungle. Once you see five minutes of the jungle on the river, you have seen the same that you will see traveling 10 hours to Tabatinga and Leticia.

3. The tourist trip to see the Bora Bora Indians is fake.

I am planning to be in Iquitos for a week Jan. 16-23. Would be happy to meet other members while there.

Also, a question to those who know Iquitos: is Eldorado Plaza Hotel chica-friendly? There is also hotel El Dorado (without a "plaza" in its name), and Victoria Reggia, and Maranon. Where would you recommend to stay, for the optimum combination of room quality, chica-friendliness, availability of a swimming pool and of course price?

And, if I may, a question about jungle trips: what can one do to see the amazon jungle without spending several days and going very far from Iquitos? Like, making a day or two-day trips, perhaps?

My last night in Iquitos, I wandered up and down the Boulevard, looking for a likely prospect. I spotted Alejandra, but I have learned that a repeat time is never as good as the first, and I wanted to try someone new. Finally spotted a really gorgeous young lady who looked the part, and started a conversation. She seemed to be very nervous and I wondered if maybe she was new at the game. She wanted S. /50 for a masaje but seemed open to more fun than that. I asked if she would come to my hotel but she insisted she wanted to go to another hotel No way! Eventually she agreed but still seemed very nervous about going to my hotel. I asked if she wanted a cerveza and we walked a couple of blocks further down the Boulevard to a little bar. After some conversation and my clear suggestion that I was willing to pay a little more for more service, we walked back up to my hotel. Again, she was very reluctant, but I finally convinced her that it would be okay there. When we got up to my room she refused anything more than a massage, so I told her that was not what I wanted, and we left. I walked her back to the Boulevard and gave her S. /20 out of charity, I guess, and to pay for her time. I looked around for an alternative for the evening but found nothing that really suited me.

So, I went back to the hotel and asked Raul to make a call for me. He had told me it would be S. /200 for 2 hours, and when she arrived if I did not like, I could just pay S. /5 for taxi fare. It was no more than 10 minutes and the knock came at my door, Raul accompanied by a beautiful, slender, raven-haired chica. About 25 years old. Her name Patricia. When she got into the room, I explained exactly what I wanted and told her I would pay S. /150. She agreed immediately to the price, making me wonder if I could have done the deed for S. /100. Anyhow, there was no disappointment. Not the GFE like I had a few days earlier. But great sex none the less.

So to sum up my Iquitos experiences some recommendations:

Hotel Marañon is a great bargain for a chica friendly place in a good location. Raul who works the desk at night will make calls for you if you want, and there are moto drivers out front who will help you find places if you want.

The best SW action is along the Boulevard between Napo and Nauta Streets. Forget about the Plaza de Armes.

The clubs are all very low class. Don't go expecting a high class strip joint.

A nice neighborhood type bar is the Vocé at the corner of Napo and Condamine.

A great restaurant is the Huasaí, just around the corner from the Marañon on Fitzgerald Street.

I really liked Iquitos. The people there generally were friendly and the streets felt safe to walk around. At least in the central plaza area and the Boulevard when there were other people around. I did not spend much time late at night, but up until about midnight, it seemed reasonably safe.

The first couple of nights I checked out the Plaza and did not find any SW's there except a couple of times when they were walking up from the Boulevard. The "Boulevard" is like a promenade or boardwalk that runs all along the Rio Amazonas almost from the slums of Belen to a few blocks past the main part of town. The most popular part runs between Napo and Nauto. Every evening it is crowded with local people and a few Gringos with musicians, comedy/charade acts, street vendors, etc. They are mostly young people and couples but also some families. Included in the mix (as I found out) are also a few not-so-obvious SWs.

My 4th evening in Iquitos I was down on the Boulevard about 10 PM just checking out the local flavor and people watching when I noticed a conservatively dressed, fairly attractive woman of about 28-30 years old sitting on the edge of the low wall that overlooks the river. I sat down about 8 feet from her and after a few minutes struck up a conversation. After some idle chit chat, I asked her if she would like to go get a cerveza.

When she agreed, I asked her to pick out the place and we ended up at a little bar with sidewalk seating, just a half block and across the street from my hotel. Coincidence, I am sure. (I don't know the name of the place but it is on Nauta, halfway between Fitzgerald and Raymondi. They have live music (guitar player/singer) and the cervezas are cheap.)

We talked for a while, enjoyed the music and a couple of beers, then I asked her "¿A que se dedica? " She replied that sometimes she provides companionship for the turistos. All I needed to hear. She was not a ravishing beauty, but a nice slim body and very pleasant personality. We agreed to S. /100 and walked across the street to my hotel. (Her name was Alejandra, in case one of you happens to run into her. Sorry I did not get a phone number.)

She did not have an ID with her, but was obviously of age. Raul at the hotel had her fill out a visiter form and upstairs we went. What followed was my best experience of the entire trip. A true GFE. We showered together, full oral, kissing, abrazos, touching. And to my surprise she wanted to turn on the porn channel on the TV. I really think she got into it as much as I was. No one was watching the clock but I am sure we were together well over two hours. When I was ready to call it a night, I walked her downstairs and gave her a propina for taxi fare.

For several more evenings that I was in Iquitos, I walked down to the Boulevard and started noticing more and more SW's there. Most of them not real obvious. I think altogether there were only 2 instances where they approached me. I took advantage of the SW scene only one other night, but that experience did not turn out nearly so well, and will be covered in another report a little later.

Las Divas is definately unlike any night club or strip bar I had ever been in. It seemed like the stage in the center room was never used, there were no chairs anywhere except in the private rooms surrounding the center room. We were in a private room with two sofas, the moto driver Guite sitting with the heavier chica on one sofa and me with the petite spinner type on the other. They brought us a Pilsner Grande with 4 glasses and we all sat there drinking and talking. She said her name was Salimari (or something like that) and she was 22 years old but looked to me more like 18 or 19. I had not yet exchanged any of my money so was still pulling from US dollars and taking change in soles. A big mistake since I was not fully familiar with the exchange rate yet. Add that to the fact that I was not paying too much attention, distracted by the attention I was getting from Salimari, and I am sure I was short changed or over charged or both. After a couple of twenties pulled from my wallet and several Pilsner Grandes, the girls asked for a Coca Cola instead. When the guy said it was 20 soles for two cokes, I sort of woke up and started feeling ripped off. I refused to pay that much and got really pissed off and got up to leave the place. Guite and I were half way out the door when the girls came and begged us to stay, and forget about the cokes. I really wanted to score with this one so I went back in the private room and they brought us another Pilsner no charge.

The attention I was getting from Sali was getting hotter, and pretty soon Guite explained the terms they had come to for a take out. We could leave with both chicas to my hotel for S. /300 en todo. 200 for Sali and 100 for the other. And they would not charge us the normal S. /50 take out fee. Or. I could stay right there in a private room for S. /100 full service. I really wanted to get that one in my hotel room so agreed to the price, but told Guite I wanted Sali alone and he would have to find his own place for his chica. Unfortunately I did not have enough money with me, so with Guite driving the moto, the two chicas and I, and some guy from Las Divas, all climbed in the back of the moto to go to my hotel.

When we got there, Raul at the hotel front desk checked Sali's ID and held it for security. We went up to my room and I paid what was owed in US dollars. $100 in twenties. Since the guy from Las Divas was taking it back with him. I usually do not pay in advance but somehow between the beers and the desire after two fruitless nights in Peru, I went along with it.

I have to say, Sali was doing a great job, really getting into it and giving me a great BBBJ. After a few minutes my phone rang and someone said something in Spanish that I could not understand, so I just hung up and we went back to it. Then a few minutes later there was a knock on my door. It was Guite. He said the guy from Las Divas wanted some fresher looking twenties. That the ones I gave them were too worn and they would not be able to exchange them. I was REALLY pissed by that time by these interuptions. I told him tough shit, take it or leave it and told him to leave. Then he wanted to know if I was going to pay him for moto driving. I told him he got his with the S. /100 for his chica and the $5 gas money and drinks I had paid for. If he wanted to discuss it more, come back tomorrow.

He left after that and we went back to it. Then she covered and mounted me, but I wanted missionary. She seemed reluctant for that but gave in in the end. I felt her get wet and hot and that was all it took to finish me off.

She got up to get cleaned up and I wiped off with a towel. We hugged and talked a little and I was ready for her to leave. I walked her downstairs, to get her ID and outside to one of the waiting motos. Guite and the guy from Las Divas were nowhere in sight. I gave her S. /5 for taxi fare and went back up to my room. Then I discovered what the hot and wet was all about. I had to wash out the towel and there were a few red stains on the bed sheets. What a night!
