Thanks for the report from Iquitos. It's been a long time since an Iquitos update. Keep posting reports from this great little jungle city.

I had researched on the web before I left home to try to find out where the action was in Iquitos. Mostly the posts were very old and listed half a dozen or so night clubs within walking distance of my hotel. After catching up on my sleep, I walked around in daylight to scope them out. Included on my list were Agresivas Night Club, Emmanuels, Tropical, El Farolito, Rincon de Lucy, Las Divas, Bananas, El Alfil Manosa and Africa. As far as I could tell after walking around to the street corners and addresses listed for these, not one of them was still operating. I like to meet and talk with a chica before negotiating. So I prefered not to take a call girl on the blind. But I was about ready to give up on that and let the hotel night desk guy (Raul) make a call for me.

Then a moto driver in front of the hotel approached me and asked if I wanted to find a chica. He was not the same guy as the previous night. I think his name was Guite, or something like that. I asked him if any of the clubs would be open on a Sunday night and he said they would be after about 11 PM.

So at 11 PM I got in back of his moto and we were headed off to his favorite best place, named Fin de Manica (or something like that). We drove out Putumayo just past the sports stadium and turned right on a dirt road. The place was closed.

So we went back on Putomayo to another place called Banditos just off Putumayo before the sports stadium. They wanted S. /2 just to walk in and see that there were no chicas in sight. No customers. Just an empty place with an empty stage.

Guite said he knew of another place across town so off we went again. I am not sure where we went but it was in the general direction of the airport. Finally we ended up in this little hole in the wall place called Las Gatas. It was about as low class as a "night club" can get. Just a dark room with a couple of home made little wooden stools and table off to one side. Guite and I took a seat while they brought in the entertainment. A skinny, drugged up, washed out, bleached blond who staggared over and sat on a stool next to me. "Vamos" I said to Guite, and off we went on his moto again.

By this time it had started to rain, but we drove on for about 20 minutes and eventually pulled up in front of a little disco which was basically full of local young people who were winding up the Fiesta de San Jaun weekend drinking and dancing. If I was a few years younger, probably would have been a good place, but not for me.

I got to give Guite credit, he did not give up easily. He said he knew of yet another club back across town so off we went in the middle of a heavy rainstorm. I recognized the airport road and a block wall with "Escuela de las Juveniles" or something like that, and across the street a sign pointing to Las Divas. Down a dirt road and to the left we pulled up in front of what looked like a house (or shack) with iron bars all across the door and windows.

Guite and I walked up to the place and there was a guy inside the door and I could see someone sleeping on a sofa just inside. It took them a few minutes to find the key to open their own front door, but soon we were walking back into a place that had a little stage in one room and a series of smaller rooms surrounding it, each with sofas, and all pretty dark. They woke up someone sleeping on a sofa in one of the rooms and kicked him out. Up walked the entertainment. Two chicas this time. One cute little jungle girl for me and a slightly heavier one for Guite. Things were finally looking up.

I took a Star Peru flight (via Tarapoto) to Iquitos, and I would not recommend them. Lan Peru has much newer and more reliable aircraft.

I had made a reservation at the Hotel Marañon, based on some comments here, and I can HIGHLY recommend them. They advertise airport pickup but I had not pre-arranged with them. None the less, when I got to the airport, there was a sign with my name on it and a hotel van waiting for me.

The rooms at the Marañon are clean and spacious with good cold AC and hot showers. I had a king size bed with cable TV (including porn channel). The price was S. /85 (about $31) per night including breakfast. The staff very friendly and at least at night very CHICA friendly as well. The location is perfect, just a block from the plaza, Noa Noa, and several very good restaurants. The ONLY negative for some people might be the lack of an elevator. If that's a problem, ask for a room on a lower floor (they have 4 floors). Also, the steet noise for some rooms might bother some people, but that is common with most hotels in Latin America.

My first night I wanted to explore all the possibilities. One of the moto drivers offered to help me out with my chica search, but I decided to give it a try on my own first.

I found a great little bar called Vocé at the corner of Napo and Condamine. The girls waiting tables at the bar are very friendly (Suli, Cristina and Jhuliana) so some of you young bucks could probably score some great non-pro action. This old man just enjoyed the company there. No pros in sight but a great place for beer and conversation.

Then I went to the famous Noa Noa. It is a great disco full of non-pro action and fun place to go, but not for me. I went back to Vocé to see if there might be some P4P there, but no luck. Then I walked around the Plaza, was approached a couple of times by SW's but nothing that suited me.

The night desk man at the Marañon, Raul, offered to make a call for me. He said it would be S. /200 for a 2 hour call girl and would get me my favorite type (delgata). He told me if I did not like what I saw when she arrived I could send her away for a S. /5 taxi fare. It was nearly 4 AM by that time and in the middle of the Fiesta de San Juan so we bombed out and I spent my second night in Peru with my Peru virginity intact.

More later (it does get better, I promise).

Back in Iquitos where it all started in January of 2006. Feels kind of surreal, partly due to no sleep. The city is much nicer than I remembered. I will be around for a couple days, probably having beers on the Malecon by myself, soliloquizing like Hamlet, sweating bullets. Why am I here again? I will ponder an answer to this question in the days to come. Time to go eat some baby back ribs ...

Update Oct8: last night bumped into a couple of the guys I did a rainforest trek with in 2006. Said they can pull a few chicas together for "English practice" tonight over a few beers. Alrighty, this is more like it. Attention class!

It´s my second night in Iquitos, and while I really dig the city and the people I´m gonna have to weigh in on the side of those who are saying that the p4p scene here is near dead. No clubs, no parlors, and the new mayor recently made this practically a dry town by outlawing alcohol after ten pm except on weekends. This essentially killed Iquitos´ nightlife, and the sex scene that goes with it. No clubs, no bars, no nothing. I´ll be here tomorrow which is a Friday and let you know how it is then.

As for non pros, either I just haven´t got any game or I´m too old (I look 45) but no vibe is happening here, at least yet. I´ll try the Noa Noa Club tomorrow, which I hear is pretty hot.

I met Gerald, the Texan owner of the Yellow Rose of Texas. Ok, so he´s not all warm and fuzzy, but he´s very kind and helpful. He already saved me a lot of time and money just by his advice, and he doesn´t get anything from anyone for giving it to me. I would avise anyone going to Iquitos not to commit to any tours until seeing Gerald.

I´m staying at the Hotel Marañon, $33/night. Nice enough, nice pool, and chica friendly (that is if I could find one). Good staff, no complaints.

There are a few street girls in the Plaza de Armas, but the only ones I saw were pretty grimy and some I´m sure were not even women. They were asking 30 soles and I bet worth less than half of that. Heavy police presence in the square too, so it´s an interesting cat and mouse game between them and the girls.

I chose not to do any overnights in the jungle, and you don´t need to in order to see wildlife here. Since this is off subject PM me if you want any info on that.

My impressions on your post.

Noah Noah is only fair with lots of mediocre talent available and the hot girls mostly ignoring you. A better choice is to go out to where Groupo explosion is playing..a big outdoor venue. Bring a local with you...lots of touchy feely local guys want to talk to you while they are drunk off their ass. Potential for problems so if you are meek or physically unsure of yourself, don´t go. Girls everywhere tho.


Gerald is an asshole who is almost universally despised in Iquitos. However, the food is good and the waitresses cute.

Street girls in iquitos are bad. However, many normal girls will be walking around and many of them are receptive to a joke and then a drink somewhere and from there who knows? . If you want them, you MUST approach them and talk to them. They will not approach you unless they are hookers.

Well after writing that last report I went to my hotel (Marañon) and thought I´d give the bellboy method a try. The guys at the desk actually offered. So I told them that no matter what she couldn´t be fat, and they said ¨No, don´t worry,¨blah, blah, blah. So this fat chick shows up at my door ten minutes later. Not bad looking, not ugly by any means, but guys, I just can´t do fat. Even with Viagra, which I took.

So I thought about sending her away, which is probably what some of you are gonna tell me I should have done, but I just didn´t want to risk making a scene here and having the people who are holding all my valuables pissed off at me. So after a few tries she finished me with her hand and left. Total time: 45 minutes. Total cost: 100 soles. I know, I know, I feel like an idiot, you don´t have to tell me. But I think it was a reasonable assumption that it would be ok, after reading some of your successes with this method. Bad luck, I guess.

I did complain to the desk guy, and he acted like he didn´t understand what I said about fat girls (Maybe he didn´t), and he promised me a nice flaca tomorrow. But I dunno....

I was in Iquitos for seven days. Briefly, the jungle is great (try the ayuasca and be prepared for a mind bending experience). The pay for play in Iquitos sucks, but the non pro action is great if you have some game. I had a hook up for a day and a half with a smoker.

Also, get out of the main area and try some clubs way out of town with a local guy. The girls out there are thick and like to have fun.

I´ll be heading to Iquitos for a few days next week. I don´t suppose it makes sense to go there and not see the jungle, but I really don´t want to spend a night or more by myself in the middle of the jungle. Is it possible to just stay in the city and see jungle stuff during the day, or is it all too far away for day trips? Thanks for your help, guys.

It would be nice if you can fill us in a little bit about what you noticed in iquitos. You are the last one to have gone there.

I've been reading the old reports and I notice that there are ads in papers and some pfp on the street but what else ? Are there chongos casas etc. ? Is there a red light/SW district ?

Ive been to iquitos years ago on a trip up the amazon but I was with an organized tour. I thought it was pretty intresting. Im just trying to figure out if its worth spending the money on airfare/taxi to get jungle girls or is the money better spent in lima ? I know I can get jungle girls in lima but would there be a cheap abundance in iquitos is what Im trying to figure out.

I assume the whole trip from lima for 3/4 days would be around $500 including everything ?

There are 2 small, dirty, dark chongos with 5 women each (no girls), hhmm better describe as 5 moving objects, because it is so dark and creepy there. Right next the fire station. Not worth to visit at all.

If you speak Spanish and flirting is your cup of tea. Go for it. The jungle girls are no doable, at least that is what the guide told me. Every single girl in Iquito is easy to flirt with. To give you an impression how easy it is. We are having lunch in a famous restaurant and flirting with the waitress (cowgirls). At the same evening we have them together in a disco and finally in our hotel room. Sex for them is just as common as a goodbye kiss (american lifestyle). That’s why they are called “las mujeres mas caliente” by the same Peruvian. If Spanish is your obstacle, ask the bellboy for help. You don't need to tips them, because they get a cut from the girls.

I'm going to be in Iquitos in a few weeks and have a few questions. Does Iquitos have saunas/massage as in Lima? If so where are they and names of the business.
Also do the casinos there play Texas holdem? Do they have regular tournaments? What is the pickup possiability at a casino in Iquitos?

My rate was 379.5 for three nights, including all taxes and service fees, or about $122 US. That includes a very nice buffet breakfast. I just walked in and asked for the best rate. If they are full, that won't work, but if they have lots of extra rooms, you might do better for a longer stay.

I had to admire some of the expats I met. 60 plus year olds with 4 year old kids just crack me up. I don't know how responsible that is, but for sure their women and kids are miles better off than a whole lot of the people I saw there.

On behalf of the senior expats with children, I would like to say we appreciate your admiration of our hard work to help those in need!

But, we must not forget to extend our thanks to the "Good old USA", "Social Security" for lifetime benefits for our "young wives and children" and of course you "working stiff's", without who our "tiring work" would not be possible!
