Just arrived a few hours ago and IŽm happy to report that its possible to have great sex here; despite the previous posts.

When I arrived at my hotel, I asked the bellboy if he could get a woman for me and he promised me one within an hour. Fifteen minutes later, the guy at the front desk asked me if I needed a Žmujer! I like this town Cristina arrived within an hour and I had a great time, in fact, IŽll probably see her tomorrow also. Cost: 150 of which 30 goes to the bellboy. Twenty years old with jet black hair and dark eyes. Beautiful. Pics to follow when I get home.

I ate at the Yellow Rose and met Gerald, the owner from Texas. Nice guy and very helpful with info. Good food also. IŽll check with him before booking any tours.

Its hot and humid here and lots of people wearing shorts, unlike Lima.

The girls are outstanding if you like the black hair/Indian type, which I love.

    More to follow.

I visited Iquitos last year. IMHO, the brothels near the airport were not worth it -- However, they are 3 or 4 brothels in the same block and you might find a cutie there. Good luck !

Another advice, DO NOT exchange your money in the streets -- they will rip you off.

I will be travelling to Iquitos in a few days with my partner and cannot speak spanish. However I often leave my other half in the hostal on an evening and want a discreet suck from a young girl while i am in town. With regard to my limitations and considering i will only have an hour or two free time, what is the best way for me to get what I want?

I have just left Mancora and found it impossibly hard to find girls, so suggestions as to my best options in Iquitos would be much appreciated. I am new to this forum, community and hobby so thank you for your time and help.

By the way, there is also a heavy DEA presence in Iquitos. The food is okay at both places, but there is more than meets the eye to both restaurants it seems. The whole thing seems pretty silly, actually.

Just beware as a gringo in Iquitos you will be watched by a few prostitutes, a lot of thieves, a lot of NGO type organizations who think that you are out to enslave women, the coutnless husslers selling jungle tours. Some long-time ex-Thailand expat told me the story about the place.

If you really want to see the surrounding area, hire a boat for a few weeks and roam the estuaries of the Amazon with a trustworthy guide. This maybe your challenge, finding someone in Peru who is trustworthy.

Just don't take it personally. You are the "rich" gringo and the people around Iquitos are really friendly, but like always, watch your back.

What you have going against you is your proximity to the Colombian border, and a lot of trafficking on the Rio Napo and places north of Iquitos.

Sometimes there could be FARC incursions across the Putumayo into Peru, so don't go North.

So, by being in this area, you are going to draw the attention of some people because of the strategic location that Iquitos has in this drug war.

The city itself is peaceful, it ought to be due to the heavy army presence.
The US Navy Seals train the Peruvian navy in riverine patrols, there is an oil refinery nearby. It is the crossroads for cocaine leaving the Huallega Valley in northcentral Peru and southern Colombia, down the Amazon River.

Something tells me that Iquitos used to be great place as a sleepy jungle town before it got discovered by hordes of tourists, agents, contraband traficcers, missionaries, social workers. Unfortunately Iquitos also has a high AIDS infection rate due to its liberal social customs.

After all of this, I say I love the women of Iquitos. They are not evil, they are just trying to survive yet they have a lot of fun doing it and their femininity is really charming. Maybe you can find them in Lima too, if you know where to look.

The Peruvians here are great to party with, especially if you are willing to consume great quantities of alcohol and listen to loud music all night.
This is false. I was in Iquitos in July and it was very safe. Police every where. Just use comon sense and you will be fine. I think New York City is more dangerous than Iquitos. The worst thing there is the weather. It is so fuckin HOT!

the jungle tour was great. used paseos amozonicas. not the cheapest but i got the best vibe from them when i was looking. didn't really want to get out on the river and find out i made a mistake for a few dollars. paid $100 for 9:00am until 4:00 pm the next day.

when i returned i went out with a cybercupido.com girl. very nice 19 year old with a smokin’ body. she brought a chubby friend with her which was disappointing but not surprising. i got great response with that website but the follow through has been hit or miss. on a short trip, even if you can make schedules work, you never know if you will be getting what i got here. had to meet the parents in order to stay out late alone with her. must not have passed the test because i found myself alone in one of those horrible mototaxi’s back to the plaza d’armas.

it had been pissing down rain earlier so the malecon was empty. didn’t really feel like calling it a night so i bit the bullet and went to rica fa. this time it was closer to 12:00. again i was the first one there. but this time a good number of people came in while i was there. very dark, no dancers. the whole place smelled like [CodeWord109].

couldn’t see the chicas but the guy asked, i said yes, and he brought over a pretty attractive jungle woman. i forget where from. it soon became apparent that she was really high, really drunk, or both. i told her she could have a beer and she ordered a pitcher. maybe that’s the only way they come. she began emptying it as fast as she could. she would pour a glass, empty two thirds of it down her throat in two gulps and then chuck the last third on the floor. or, more accurately, she would dump most of it on the floor and some of it on my shoe. good night honey.

back at the ambassador, the doors were locked and i had to knock to get in. even though the guy knew me, he only opened the door partially and looked behind me and to both sides before he let me in. gotta wonder about guest friendliness here. although from my iquitos experience, it doesn’t matter much.

I foolishly booked an overnight Jungle Tour for saturday and sunday. Which meant, that since I was still feeling a bit sick staying up all night friday would be a bad play and saturday I would be gone. Even at 10 on friday the town is much livelier. Not so with the clubs though.

I asked a taxi driver to take me to Bananas. It has another name now(Carol y Virginia, Putumayo 769) so at first I thought he was jerking me around but the location is on Putamayou about where a poster said it would be. Either way too early or way too lame. Twenty soles to get in. No one dancing. I was the only one there. With three chicas I couldn't see. What is with the lighting in these joints? Don't we get enough surprises back at the room? Sat with a girl for about a minute. attractive enough from what I could see. But no english and I just didn't feel like trying that hard at this place.

I left with the intention of walking to Agresivo's. Some mototaxi driver hounded me about some places with chicas. Since one was right around the corner from my hotel I was intrigued and agreed to a one sole fare.

    Rica Fa, 336 Fitzcarrld.

When we got there, I paid him and he got off his seat, ran with to the door right behind me, and was literally jumping up and down with excitement.

    "Commision eh?"

    "Yes, my commision"

Well there was no doorman so I opened the door and it was clearly not open for business yet. Lights on, no music, and empty tables. This was about 10:45.

"Sorry, Im going back to my hotel."

I walked to Agresivo's. The taxi driver had told me it was closed but now I didn't believe him. He was right. No sign of anything.

I returned to Rica Fa later and there was a doorman who blathered on and on about the place. Said he would let me in for ten soles because I didn't like beer. More likely because I was walking. And that they have beer, whiskey, dancing, chicas for companionship, blah blah. I did ask about salida. He said fifty soles. A couple of spanish speaking guys came up with their cab driver hopping behind them. They asked two questions. Listened to the doorman for two seconds and split. Good enough for me. I went back to my hotel. My stomach is worse now anyway.

This may be a good town for free action on the Malecon or Plaza de Armas. But I'm guessing way later. Maybe 1:00am. Most of the people I saw on the streets looked like teenagers at 10-11pm.

arrived in iquitos last night sick as a dog. so mongering was out of the question. my hotel(the ambassador) however, does not have a restaurant so after a nap i had to drag my ragged ass to the plaza to get something to eat. after getting some food down i took a short walk. it was about 10:30. didn't see any sw's. the safari is boarded up. and all over town they have signs that say something like; no al tourismo sexual de infantil.

i wonder if the ****s have screwed things up here.

my first impression of this place is that it reminds me a little of chiang mai or phitsanulok thailand. and the women are beautiful.

    To Da Mann

Really? That's really weird. I've stayed in Iquitos twice for 2 weeks each time. I ate in his restaurant many times and he's always been generous with advice on any question I had. Also about avoiding thieves.

I remember a local girl once talking bad about him and how everybody hated him, but I thought about it as jealousy.

Also you say he's making commissions on what thieves make of ripping off tourists? That sounds really hard to believe.

Anyway, I don't know. I don't know the guy well enough to vouch for him. I guess everybody should just be cautious with whoever they dealing with just as they always do when being on a trip. I know I am.

Thanks for the heads up anyhow.

True. I prefer changing money in the casino's in Iquitos. There are also "chino's" who have change offices.
Otherwise tell the street gambista's that you forgot your money in the hotel and have them waiting in the lobby. Then whenever they give you the money, count it again and again. Even if he touches it only with one finger while you count it, count all the money you have again in full. I counted my money again for 4 times and each time it was different, truly amazing. After you satisfyingly counted your money and put it away, only then you hand them over your dollars or euro's.

Whiskerbisket, there is a Texan running a restaurant called "The Yellow Rose" one block of the Plaza de Armas. He's been living in Iquitos for years and has always been very helpfull with information, maybe he can help you.
Whatever locals tell you, don't have them take you to the Bora Bora's. What a commercial bullshit that was.

    Iquitos Bush Trips

Try to visit the Reserva Nacional Pacaya Samiria, it is millions of acres of jungle full of wildlife. Only 60 miles from Iquitos - thats about 8 hours by boat! Years ago, I went to Lagunas (a very small town) near the park and rented a guide with boat for a few days. Very primitive, but incredible. I was able to do this because I am bi-lingual and took a "girl friend" semi-pro with me. This was years ago and I met her at a local dance club. (Sorry to hear you will be traveling with a woman and not available to try out the local talent.)

A more comfortable alternative is to hook up with someone like Explorama Tours (www.explorama.com) in Iquitos. They have a bunch of jungle lodges many of which are on environmentally protected lands. Very nice and a real jungle experience. Get a "limpieza" from a shaman! Or, take a walk on one of their canopy bridges they have built up in the tree tops. Book these tours and lodges from Iquitos or the USA. The Lima tourist agencies over charge for booking these trips, when you can easily do it yourself. Explorama is expensive but well worth it; operated by a gringo.

Finally, hit the Sourh American Explorers website (www.saexplorers.org). You can join for just a few dollars, they have a clubhouse in Quito, Ecuador and Lima, Peru. They are oriented more toward the highlands, but still have a lot of knowledge on the Amazon too. Its just a club, not profit outfit.

    Have a great trip.

    Dear Iquitan Fellers,

I will be in Iquitos next month accompanied by a girl I lined up from this side of the equator. That prolly means little opportunity for the pursuit of the hobby. However, I would really like to take a trip out into the bush. I'd like to see the real Amazon, something worthy of a goddamn Nat. Geographic documentary with real indians w/ bones in their noses and titties flappin' free and all that - not some gussied up, put on show 10 minutes upriver meant for naive gringoes.

Can anyone hep me with the name of an outfit and any other info? Will be glad to post after-trip snaps and add to the knowledge base.

    Ol' Whiska
