    Chica friendly hotels

I have stayed at many hotels in Iquitos and they were all chica friendly. Never stayed at ElDorado Plaza, but they are way more than $50. The Maranon is close to the boulevard and is about S100 per night, clean, AC and a pool. The New Gran Maranon is a few blocks farther away, new and all the Maranon amenities but much nicer for just a few soles more. Chicas just need to have a PNI to leave at the front desk. La Posada de Lobo is another good choice if you want to get farther away from the plaza and boulevard and about the same price S100-S150.

    Same question

Saw your post re availability of a room in your home. Am coming to Iquitos in about a week to stay for about a month and have interest in renting a room. (lot of "abouts" but travel with little reference to clocks and / or calendar). How do I contact you?

    Jungle Hunter,

I will be there August 15 and am also looking for a room for about 5 days.

I was in Iquitos for the fourth time this last March. Iquitos is just as hot for chicas as it is temprature. Yes there are many women looking for LTR and STR. The quick and easy are the pros and semi-pros that stroll the boulevard and just off the boulevard on the street by Ari's Burgers, always two or three pros there. The boulevard itself usually has semi-pros and parttimers. It all starts around nine o'clock or after. These are in the S100 or less for an hour or so. The quality goes from so so to some real cute 18-19 yo.

Your best bet for pros is to make friends with the taxistas that hang around the front of your hotel. I have found that they know the part timers that do not go to the boulevard. My experience it they are younger and cuter than the street girls, they also cost a little more, S125-150.

I have been going to Iquitos for six years and have developed relations with hotel receptionistas, tourist guides, store clerks etc and stay in e-mail contact with them and have a ready made date when I arrive. This of course takes more time, usually a dinner or date or two before they are willing to jump into bed, but I think this effort is worth the time and money it takes to develop. I personally like them to stay all night and have a little fun before they have to go to work the next day.

Iquitos is full of beautiful hot chicas. I personally love the city and the vibe. The quality and number of chica is just the icing on the cake for me.

By the way I am not a thirty something, more a middle aged relative well kept guy with limited conversational Spanish.

    Heard same infos

I have heard same story from local friends, they state that "charapa" girls are really into "friendship". You just have to compensate them inviting for food or buying some clothes, lingerie, shoes, accessories, perfumes, etc.
As a matter of fact I think to organize a short trip to Iquitos next time I will be around.

Any Updates on Iquitos to Share?

Plaza 28 was dead a couple of years ago when I went back, but in its heyday (pre 2004) the place was a veritable goldmine of earthly delights. Seldom did you have to pay more then 50 soles for a very memorable experience.

The staff at the hotels in the area were very helpful as well. I recall arguing in front of the hotel with a nubile provider and turned her down because she wanted 80 soles. I don't think the good times are back, but this crackdown can't last forever, eh.

    Ayaschuasa v Mongering in Iquitos

    Dear Matt,

I guess the real questions are how much time do you have and what kind of budget are you on. Anything less than a week. Ten days I would stick to only one objective (I was there for 3. 5 weeks). If you are on a low budget then definitely stick to a single objective.

Only had one ayaschuasca experience with ron wheelock (the gringo shaman). Not the most expensive but genuine enough for me. Some would argue its not an authentic option. He doing this a long time. Consequently, not in a position to compare or offer alternatives. He does offer retreats with basic facilities or any number of ceremonies you wish to do. You could contact ron wheelock via his website / email. He is pretty helpful and knows alot of the curraceros. Didn't feel any obligation to him even though I postponed a couple of times. Humming bird was one of the retreats mentioned as its expat curator 'Jim' had worked with ron previously and was there on the night that I did his ceremony.

Would recommend you check out the ayaschuasa boards and forums first as there are many providers both individuals and retreats.

As regards experience the above ceremony with ron wheelock started at 9pm and finished 4. 4.30 am. You are sitting up right on cushions on a concrete floor in near darkness for this time. Purging (pukking) and possibly shitting yourself. You are required to bring a torch, bogroll and loose fitting clothes (pj's). The drink was dark and rough but digestible. He is know for his strong brew. Was still buzzing after the ceremony I. E. Feeling and seeing electricity leaving or going through my body. Was physically knackered by it. Just weakness. It took me 2. 5 days to recover.

Would recommend subject to time and budget you do one or two ceremonies spaced over a week to see how you react or cope with it (physically). This no doubt is the reason why the ceremonies are spaced over 2-3 day intervals and done over the period of 2 weeks to a month or more by the retreats.

Mentally the experience was not negative. No terrors or haunting or guilt or what people deem to be negative. Spent most of it in an amusement arcade killing clowns (my demons). One other in the group (there was 9 in all) said they had experienced this before. The more ceremonies you do the more depth or into yourself you go. But cannot speak from experience. Hence most people do a good few ceremonies. The average was six for the group at ron wheelocks that night.

San pedro cactus. Did not know about this and not sure if this is available in iquitos. More research on boards / forums required.

If the above doesn't appeal then plan be. Mongering. I guess the number one advantage is speaking spanish. If so you are ahead of the game. If it is true that there is a higher ratio of women to men and given that peruvian women will talk to us gringos then your well on your way. Where? From what I understand. The following was correct in may 2011.

Pros are on the plaza des armes after dark. Other locations can be confirmed by the expats in iquitos.

Pros / non-pros / amateurs / gringo hunters / curious or all things can be found strolling down the boulevard overlooking the river. Take a pew with a coffee or beer and observe the masses.

Options for non- pros but game. All the retail staff from waitresses to clothes shops as they make only 100-120S per week. All the ICAP university students who will exchange english for spanish lessons. Stick up a notice and see. Or take a bus round the town and sit beside a pretty girl to chat too. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Bars. The Camiri bar down on the river (its also a hostel and restuarant) owned by Marcel. Have a chat with him. Its a nice place to chill out away from the main drag during the day or night. More up market is the Karma bar owned by english chap Stace formerly of Ibiza. Has good tunes and vibe. For the older expat brigade there's Dawn on the Amazon bar / cafe owned by american Bill (elder of the expats and knows everyone) for drinks with the expats, info, food and bouelvard watching.

Clubs. NouNou and or Voce bar if your into loud dance music / can't hear anything / expensive drinks but want to see some pretty why girls (and their boyfriends showing off). I lasted about 15mins in there. Theres another club with local live bands 15S cover charge attended by marrieds / family / friends and few pick ups. As I'm over 40 clubs are not my thing and have rarely worked for me. Las Divas don't know as was never there.

Pros. Up market would be hotel lobbies and down market the plaza des armes. See other threads using motorcarro as agents. Possibly the quickest way of doing things.

Accommodation: would recommend the hotel El Colibiri. 40S per night for a single. Cheap and in the center of town. Good first night or two to get your bearings. For a weekend to chill out with good food and a pool the Fitzcarro house about 1. 5/2 miles out along the port road 250S per night for a single or just go there for a drink and lounge around the pool to impress the girls. Longterm (month plus) find an apartment.

Other. Try www.perutops.com If you have spanish and can do some ground work.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards, Del049.

Just gone to the local shop for some bananas. Struggling with spanish when this girl asked if I needed help.

Spent the next 2. 5 weeks getting BJ's and giving russians every other morning after she finished school / college.

They start early in all respects.

Funny only went to Iquitos to do the tourist ayaschusca thing. Whats the meaning of life, who am I, are we all.

Just taking the [CodeWord140]. Til I met this peruvian school / college girl. Did ayaschusca once but the physical effects were

Tough like being hit by a bus. Might also have had a viral infection.

Any how the choice of puking and shitting oneself for spiritual enlightenment or having a beautiful girl play nurse

To your morning glory meant the puking / shitting went by the spiritual wayside. I must still be an unenlightened

Heathen but very happy heathen none the less. Managed to pick up a bit of spanish too.

Had only two other non-pros experiences while there. Both arranged by a pal of the acommondation owner.

A poor average by anyone's standards.

First was C. 18 yr old with a great body. Sadly she was doing it for the money and wasn't into it. Managed to

Down 3 large rums beforehand. Performance can only be described as that of of a 'dead fish'. Very poor.

Even a 'dying fish' would have moved but not C. Paid S / 150. 00 knowing I was the one getting screw.

Second was A. Short 18 yr old girl with a real happy character to her. This girl was just bubbly all the time.

Loved life and loved fucking. Either that or she had ADHD. Spent 2. 5 hours doing pretty much everything we

Could think of. She left a very happy camper and eager to meet again. Damage S / 60. 00. Did bump into her.

In the middle of the day on prospero calle but didn't have the spanish / english to arrange a meeting.

For someone who considers himself a greenhorn to mongering and wasn't intending to do so on this trip it.

Turned out to be a pretty positive few weeks all round.

Conclusion: You could be having a hoar of a time in Iquitos with the local girls if you have basic spanish.

The ratio of girls to men is 4. 1 according to some. So the non-pro action is as good as your efforts

And spanish. Didn't bother with the pro's on Plaza de Armes but was quoted the gringo price of S / 100.

Suggestion: For non-pro action try putting an advert up on the ICAP university notice boards for spanish.

Lessons or offering english lessons. See how many responses you get. You never know.

    Adious. Del049.

    Iquitos opportunities

Rtw monger, I always enjoy reports from my favorite jungle city. Never been to las Divas. I have found the best / easiest choice for chicas was the motocarro drivers that hang around the front door of most hotels. Get to know one and they can produce some real quality chicas for only around S120 total delivered to your room.

    Iquitos – my report

As a largest city in the Amazon region of Peru Iquitos can offer some good options for a wary traveler and it will not cost you a fortune. Don't waste you time on around Plaza de Armas with SW, they looked scary and get a tricycle to go to Las Divas. Area around Las Divas is not nice, so mind you bag on tricycle, sit in the middle of the seat and get a driver you would consider reliable. I always try to hire older guys. In the private room at Las Divas it will cost you 100 soles, but place didn't look very clean. Take out is far more expensive and will cost you almost double 180 soles, but you can enjoy in on your own turf and all hotels are friendly (except luxury ones). Agree on all prices before takeout. Selection was 5 girls, all about 5-7, none higher then that.

You can find plenty of places to stay within 2-3 blocks around Plaza de Armas. 2-3 star hotels that will be GF and offer a decent room. Wanted to stay in Marañon, bu it was full and I didn't have the reservation. Yellow Rose of Texas is a good and friendly restaurant just a block from Plaza de Armas. You can meet western expats there if you want to get the most recent pulse of the city. You can try casinos around Plaza de Armas, but I didn't see any working girls there, albeit it was late at night.

In summary, Iquitos is not a great place to monger, if you are here, then you had something else on you mind. Lima has far better selection and services.

    "it's not going to break!"

    Dear Jungle Hunter,

You do hunt in many places!

Sorry didn't get to say goodbye. A motorcarro was outside to go to the airport.

I do hope you enjoyed the bottle of rum with no mama's to guzzle it on you!

Enjoyed your company and hospitality. Will be raising a glass to your health and future parenthood to wish you the best of luck on that front.

Re the student. It may well break if it hasn't already been broken. I believe the jury is still out.

Well you can appreciate its all down to mama. So as you know its not the phone number but that "shopping list".

You just have to buy those groceries! The bag of rice sugar and gazola. The list you were very happy to keep reminding me of!

You might just do that. Make a clean break from the existing two shops and buy organic if there is such a thing.

Regardless, I wish you well in all adventures.

    Cheers,

    Del049.

Can you please explain how this was a "non pro experience" when a) you paid her, and be) she was doing it for the money? Also please stop hitting the carriage return ("enter") as that makes your otherwise fine report very hard to read. The text will wrap around without any need to do that.
