Funny only went to Iquitos to do the tourist ayaschusca thing. Whats the meaning of life, who am I, are we all. Just taking the [CodeWord140]. Til I met this peruvian school / college girl. Did ayaschusca once but the physical effects were tough like being hit by a bus. Might also have had a viral infection. Any how the choice of puking and shitting oneself for spiritual enlightenment or having a beautiful girl play nurse to your morning glory meant the puking / shitting went by the spiritual wayside. I must still be an unenlightened heathen but very happy heathen none the less. Managed to pick up a bit of spanish too.

Had only two other non-pros experiences while there. Both arranged by a pal of the acommondation owner. A poor average by anyone's standards. First was C. 18 yr old with a great body. Sadly she was doing it for the money and wasn't into it. Managed to

Down 3 large rums beforehand. Performance can only be described as that of of a 'dead fish'. Very poor. Even a 'dying fish' would have moved but not C. Paid S / 150. 00 knowing I was the one getting screw.

Second was A. Short 18 yr old girl with a real happy character to her. This girl was just bubbly all the time. Loved life and loved fucking. Either that or she had ADHD. Spent 2. 5 hours doing pretty much everything we Could think of. She left a very happy camper and eager to meet again. Damage S / 60. 00. Did bump into her in the middle of the day on prospero calle but didn't have the spanish / english to arrange a meeting. For someone who considers himself a greenhorn to mongering and wasn't intending to do so on this trip it turned out to be a pretty positive few weeks all round.

Conclusion: You could be having a hoar of a time in Iquitos with the local girls if you have basic spanish. The ratio of girls to men is 4. 1 according to some. So the non-pro action is as good as your efforts and spanish. Didn't bother with the pro's on Plaza de Armes but was quoted the gringo price of S / 100.

Suggestion: For non-pro action try putting an advert up on the ICAP university notice boards for spanish lessons or offering english lessons. See how many responses you get. You never know. Adious. Del049.

After sending in my last note, I realized I had been to "frio al fuego". It is a floating restaurant in the middle of the Itaya floodplain. Very over priced food and not very good. Sure, if you want to impress a local girl it may be good to go. But I for one can think of better ways to spend my money on the chicas.

I checked with one of my friends in Iquitos, he tells me that the locals call KOA "COA". COA is just a place to hang out, dance, and sun bathe.

Having been to Iquitos 20 times I have never heard of "KOA" and "frio al fuego". Where are these places at?

Fred, at Hotel Maranon upstairs and away from the street are the quietest rooms. It makes no difference where the room is a far as chicas, they all have to check in at the front desk.

The taxi driver introduced me to a blonde friend of his, she was pretty cute, not stunning, and I was going to go have a drink with her, but the idiot driver kept interfering and saying he would take us somewhere he thought we should go.

I don't have much tolerance for these guys so after arguing with him for 2 or 3 minutes I just said forget it, see you later (I think the driver told me his name was 'david treinta why tres' LOL)

I don't think the guy had anything bad planned for me, he just wanted to milk me for some $$ and I hate that shit.

I walked a few blocks to El musmuqui on raymondi 382, that's a not bad area, worth checking out. The bar was full, but mostly couples, not too much for me there. I'm sure other times it could be a good place to meet someone.

Wandered back to the malecon and sat down at Arandu (arambu?) bar overlooking the river.

There always seem to be a few working girls walking along, nothing too great, but often one attractive girl with 1 or 2 sketchy ones.

A cute girl sat down a few tables away from me, alone, and so I gave her a look and she looked right back and smiled, so I knew she was a possibility.

Not too much else was going on so I went and sat with the single girl, 'Mariana', who has a tear drop shaped tattoo between her eyes. I bought her a beer and we chatted. Before too long a wild looking girl with 'hecho en Peru' tattooed across her belly joins us, her name is CheChe and she's mariana's half sister, supposedly.

Mariana tells me CheChe is a lesbian, to which CheChe replies noooo! Bisexual! CheChe is a ball of fire as you can imagine, singing and dancing and she suggests over and over that we go 'have a party'.

Mariana wants to go to Voce Bar, which is just a block or two from hotel maranon, and I am sure that working girls must hang out there, so might be worth checking out.

CheChe wants to go to some bar called paraiso, which mariana says is too dangerous, and the two waiters are taking all this in and laughing, so I knew the girls weren't dangerous, they would have warned me.

CheChe speaks pretty good English so she tells me her plan is for us to go spend an hour in a bar and then mariana will come back to my hotel for a 'masaje', wink wink, big laugh all around.

I told them I seriously just want to go to my hotel, but a masaje sounds good. Mariana says 150 soles for everything, but I said no, just a nice massage with a happy ending and some other things and she said 100 soles ($33)

That's probably way too much for iquitos, but she's a cute girl and so I agreed and off we went.

She gave her cedula at the front desk, which they kept until she left. When she left the desk clerk phoned up to make sure all was ok, and I said yes thanks, no problem, and a few minutes later I went down to get some water and I heard mariana talking to the desk clerk about her rates, and I imagine he'll keep her in mind for future guests. I talked to him (Jorge) and he was very cool, said next time it would be best if I came downstairs with the girl, it just makes everything easier, they don't have to hold the girl while they call up, they don't want to wake you up either.

One funny thing happened. I had 3 100 Sol notes, some of which were left over from my last trip to Peru, where at a money changer I was given a false note.

I kept the note but forgot all about it, and that's the one I handed mariana. She immediately starts chewing on one end of it, which makes me laugh, but when the paper starts to disintegrate I said hey, stop that!

That's the best way to tell if it's false she says, and that bill was the false one, and I was confused at first as I had taken money from the cash machine, but then I remembered the false bill from the last trip so I gave her a good bill. Now I have a false bill with the end chewed off, LOL.

It's a lot easier to test false bills by looking at the colour change in the numbers, but I guess in the dark these girls learn other tricks. I'm sure that's not the first false bill she's had passed to her!

Random notes:

Nice looking girl handed me a flyer for Enmanuel Club (maybe should be Emmanuel, but that's how it's spelled on the flyer) Av Brasil 952. It says 'A1 Girls' and that they'll pay moto taxis 3 soles to bring clients. No idea if it's ok or not.

CheChe told me she does a striptease on Friday and Saturday nights at a discoteca called Asia. Mariana said it wasn't the best place, Noa is better. Asia is not a nightclub, it's a discoteca that just has a short show a couple times each night.

Had chili at yellow rose. Waaaay too salty, just average if you ask me. Not just 1 tout out front, but 4 or 5, all trying to get you to go to a different part of the same restaurant, bizarre. Totally indifferent service as well, and in the end I am overcharged, which might be an innocent mistake, but hard to see how they don't know the price of a bowl of chili, I imagine they sell more than a few. I won't be back, instead I'll go to:

Karma café has not bad thai food, salads and sandwiches, it's about as good as it gets here I'm guessing, which isn't saying all that much, but nice if you want an ok curry or tuna melt.
