Anyways If I am IN Peru I can always leave for up to 6 months but Full Nationality is not until after 3 years.. Yeh At Least I am trying on this.

Yes, I have residency as well. Advantages/disadvantages, nothing is black and white. Still need to go to Brena once or twice a year unless you can pay a tramitador. Need to provide a letter of tax compliance from your employer everytime you leave the country. Did I mention TAXES!! No tax treaty like Canada so Peru will want to tax you on worldwide earnings!

Bank accounts, I suppose David33 is technically correct but I have always had a few and my friends on tourist visa´s all have them. Hell guys are signing leases down here with out the required permissions.

If you want to fly under the radar,have an excuse to get away from the chica´s when they start tightening the noose, compete in the ¨other Economy¨ tourist visa´s are great.

I´ve always had residency...so I never had to live here without it. I suppose that the greatest advantage is not having to worry about leaving and re-entering the country every time a visa expires. Have to pay a residency tax every year, but its minimal, about $25 dollars or so. Once I forgot to pay and they took my bags off the plane and I couldn´t leave the country until I paid it plus late fees. Another advantage is being able to have bank accounts. I think I also might get into Machu Picchu cheaper than you gringo tourists.

A 22-year-old Mexican man was caught at Jorge Chavez International Airport on Tuesday with 100 kilos of cocaine, said Peru's drug enforcement officers.

According to police reports, it is believed that Rey David Sombra is part of the Sinaloa Mexican drug cartel.

The 22-year-old medical student had hid fifty kilos of cocaine in two suitcases while the rest was distributed in six bags.

Police reported that Sombra had arrived to Peru ten days ago and stayed at Hostal Alamo in Surco with a woman named Zulema.

Sombra was not alone on his drug run; three other suspects fled from police and managed to escape when their associate was caught.

It is believed that Sombra was working with six other Mexicans, two Colombians and a Peruvian woman - all working out of Lima. They were all members of a cell of the Sinaloa cartel working in Lima, said Peru's police. Chief of police intelligence, Héctor Silva Cruz, stated they had all been apprehended on November 10.

29-year-old Raúl Gómez, one of the men that had been with Sombra and escaped from police, was caught yesterday. The other two suspects have not been identified yet.
