Especially when you arrive at late night and there is no traffic, the meter to Suk around soi 20 runs at less than 200 Baht (maybe 240 to Sala Daeng). I sometimes manage through daytime to get a ride for 180 Baht to Soi 18 and then tip 20 to make it 200. If the driver feels like he needs to use the freeway, add 25.

The idea was not to save money. After all, what can you do with 5USD saving? I wanted to try alternatves to get to town. By the way, I took a taxi, and paid 400B from town to Airport. I knew it was too much but finding another taxi and haggling for let's say 250B is not worth the effort.

First post here, I hope I'm not going too off topic.You can get a DTAC Simple SIM card for 50 Baht also. Calls are more expensive then standard DTAC calls but you don't have to worry about your phone credit expiring within a few days.

...2. Always take a taxi (around 300B? ) from airport to your hotel especially if you arrive at night. I took a Airport Express (150B) as their website indicated that it stops very near to my hotel. But it did not stop and took me to Sala Daeng area. Without any sense of direction, I had to take a taxi (60B). So if you know exactly where the bus should stop, then this is a good way to get into Town....
