So I've been here about 3 weeks chilling out and still scoping out the scene. After my last experience (post below) I was deterred but still determined to checkout more places due to the cheap price (35 soles on average). Firstly, I did have an initial experience before Pierola, when I visited the 4th storey of 205 Santo Domingo near Plaza De Armas. Here is an arcade and you take the stairs up to either the third or fourth floor and then locate the door which says 'Massajes' and knock. Almost forgot to add a report on my January 2012 visit to Amanacer niteclub. This club is located in a rather shoddy part of town above central Arequipa. Either in Miraflores or that was the name of the street. I went there on a Sunday night so it was a little slow, only a few chicks about. One came over shortly after I sat down. She claimed to be and looked somewhat Italian and said she hailed from Puerto Maldonado. Average looking and average body. We negotiated a price of around $75 for TLN and left for my hotel. However, the security guard actually accompanied us in a taxi to my hotel and I paid for his taxi back to the club. That gives you an idea of the safety issues with taxis in that neighborhood. It was either for my protection or the chica.

Nevertheless, service was lousy and a waste of time for all night. As a consequence did not bother to return there.

Have not made very many informative posts recently except to comment on others. Since September I have been living in Cusco but have found it to be a desert for an old monger of 63. I wonder how other younger fellows do as well. Sure, the discos are open to 6am but if you are still dancing at that hour then you are not scoring. That plus most of the local women seem more interested in free drinks or meals rather than performance.

So with that in mind, I relocated to Arequipa, a pleasant city in Southern Peru, with an infinitely better climate than Cusco and lower altitude though still at 8k. I find asking taxi drivers is generally useless for this question. Though he was surprised and amused by my question, he asked a colleague and was quickly directed to a sauna only a few blocks away called Hostal Sauna. This sauna is located on Ejercito directly after an arched sign announcing the entry to Cerre Colorado, one of the twelve districts of APQ.

Upon arrival, I paid the ten soles fee ($2. 85) and an additional three soles for a towel and sandals and bathing suit. Next
time, I will bring my own. A young guy ushered me into the lockers where you give him your street clothes and he puts them
in a locker and he keeps the key. On the same floor, there is a warm, but not hot, spa and a cool plunge. The next floor has
a very effective operating sauna and vapor or steam room with showers. However, the first thing you see is a lounge area
with a tv and a menu post for food and drinks. There was one gordita there at the time (i.e. little fattie) but not much else as
it was about 2pm. So I took a relaxing sauna and waited. Gradually the girls arrived and I counted in the neighborhood of
about ten to twelve chicas by about 5pm. They are open until 8:30pm. A few were cute with nice bodies, but most were a
little chubby. By my own estimation and random conversations, they all had little ones at home and most were under 25
years. However, the attitudes of the girls left a lot to be desired. It was like trying to talk to a normal girl in a disco or bar.
Ridiculous! Anyway, finally I noticed a young pretty 20"year old flirting with me. After chatting with another older girl who was
wearing a visible anti-pregnant patch, I started a conversation with the 20'year old. Shortly thereafter, she explained the rules

Based on that comment, I will probably give it another go. However, I still felt the sauna portion was well worth the money. I should note that the place was nor fancy and not up to Relax y Vida (Lima) standards and as far as the girls, it is probably hit or miss. Stiill, it beats anything in Cusco by far.

There is also a brothel/ dance place open late in APQ called Amanecer which I will check out one of these evenings.

If anyone is going to stay in Arequipa, forget about Hostal Parra Inn. Last week, I was in Arequipa and went there to check out the offer. I asked the receptionist for chica's and he acted as if he did not understand me (although I do speak Spanish). When I tried to be more specific, he said that I must have mistaken the Hostal for 'some other place' and that there were no chica's. To be certain I had come to the right place, I asked if there had been girls in the past. He said no (obviously a lie) and then asked me to leave the place.
