I was born in Bolivia but I now live in a foreign country. I will be making a trip to Bolivia in a couple of months to see some old friends and family I still have in Bolivia. Of course, this will be a sex trip too. I had planned on going to Santa Cruz and Cochabamba, but after doing some research, I've recided I will be vising La Paz instead of Santa Cruz. From what I've read, Santa Cruz has a few high end strip clubs/brothels, like Caesar's Palace, Curry's and Cafe Show, which have the better looking girls although way overpriced compared to talent in other places. I've seen ads for the Cafe show and Curry's girls on difference Bolivian Escort websites, and they all ask between $100 USD and $150 USD per hour. While I'm sure there are girls who offer more reasonable prices, I'm not really interested in sacrificing quality for a lower price. I do not wanna seem cheep, but why would you pay $100-$150 per HOUR in bolivia, when you can get better looking girls who offer great service in other places like Argentina for $50? For this reason I've decided I will be going to La Paz instead. I hear the Escorting bussiness in La paz is bigger than in Santa Cruz, and that in La Paz there are more top-notch Independent Escorts who charge around $50-$80 USD. Also, night life in La Paz is better documented, there are websites who provide adverticement and reviews for these girls, and there are magazines who circulate the city which are only dedicated to Escorting, or so I've been told. Thoughts or recommendations?

The problem with using this sort of thing is that the attackers would regularly be doused with the stuff, thus we'd find them falling down everywhere (or wearing cool masks and laytex).

yeh i hate scammers there are some on this site like lima bullshit,peter pan solano,rosita paula,cats meow and some dickheads like dickhead from argentina,, ha ha ha... thats for sure,,, nibu...

scams? the classic one is a man in civilian clothes asking for your passport in english. he claims to be with the tourist police. some passports are highly prized, i would not even show it to a regular cop except at a police station.
this scam has happened to me and someone else at the hotel. of course, the other fellow refused to hand over his passport as well.

el gordo, i don't know if he still operates on the plaza de estudiantes. he used to have a bevy of girls hanging around him on the plaza. they were rather pricey, but gordo speaks english and that's going to cost you something. gordo may not be a scammer, but he is into other shit, so if the cops see you talking to him, that might be an excuse for a bribe.

and finally, this is not unique to bolivia: burundunga (sp).
the extract of this particular plant, well known in colombia, can be applied as a spray or simply wiped onto your skin as it is readily absorbed through the skin. depending on the dose, this chemical can induce a state of unconsciousness where the victim is still conscious of what is being said to him and he complies with the criminals requests. it's a date [CodeWord123] drug, but is also used by criminals to incapacitate their victims before robbing them. what makes this particularly nefarious is that the victim does not remember what has happened to him.

bottom line, watch out for girls wanting to rub you down with alcohol like substances or their "perfumes". don't inhale the fumes either.

i don't mean to make it sound like too many negatives, but it's better to be prepared than to become a victim. i would not go out at night and get too drunk to throw caution to the wind. the girls are really amazing, and the trip is still worth it.

I am wondering if prices have increased in Lima in the last couple of years. After all, Lima is the most expensive city in South America.

If you look around in Santa Cruz, you won't see beggars on the streets-I have not seen a single one. You don't see any shoeshine dudes either, unlike the rest of Bolivia. To me, that's an indicator that there isn't the grinding poverty that's characteristic of the rest of Bolivia.

Maybe you can get a better rate from the girls if you do the same girls as a repeat customer.

What I did not like about S.C. is the number of scams targeting gringos. I wonder how enjoyable it would be to live there for a longer time period if you always have to be dodging these scams. One or two months is plenty for me.

I was just in Santa Cruz for a long weekend in mid-May and there was no Visa requirement for US citizens. I think Morales proposed it, talked about it, but it has not been implemented.
