...I stayed at Tiraspol Hostel. Just google it...

This is the hostel - http://www.moldovahostels.com/#home.

But what is the reason to stay there? Hotels are very cheap. So, why would someone stay in a hostel instead of a hotel, assuming price does not matter?

Tiraspol to Ukraine by train is no problem at all. The same holds true to Tiraspol to Moldova.

I may be in Chisinau or Transistria in mid of August. Any fellow traveller around? Please PM me!

Nearly headed to Tiraspol when I was in Donetsk. My idea at the time was to take the train from Odessa with Donetsk girl. Then problems escalated and I had to fly out.

Tiraspol is still om my to do list.

Research on the place reveals these sites with a video clip of Tim from Tiraspol Hostel.

Each to their own. I would rather stay at Hotel Russia complete with a Nightclub on site.

Latest Election news from Moldova show a a majority for parties seeking closer ties &membership of The EU. Hope this doesn't mean tighter controls on the border with Transdinister.

I was thinking about spending a few weeks in Kiev in early next year but should consider Tiraspol, or at least I should do a recon trip. If only I visited Traspol when I was in Chisinau.

As far as I remember, Americans don't need visa to go there or Moldova.

I agree, the hostel Tiraspol dude will help you a lot. Especially if you're only doing the day-trip. HE showed me all the spots in town and can facilitate many things. HE has dealt and hosted everyone from your crazy drunk tourists to UN personnel.

I ended up finding a nice apt on the main road thanks to him.

It is a disappointment there aren't more reports about Transnistria! If I lived in Europe this tiny ""country"" would be on my top frequented location. I wish our fellow Europeans would spend more time there and report more often.

It's not a monger destination by any stretch of the imagination though. But if you don't have to spend 20+ hrs between 3-4 flights just to get there, and you live in Europe, you can make it a regular GF destination. It is amazing to me how this is not done. I equate this to Cuba for Canadians and Americans. It's THAT easy if you travel there frequently.

But if you do stay for long term, remember it is small town and everyone knows who you're dating, shagging,. Etc. Especially the next girl you want to flirt with!

Most have not be exposed to or spoiled by tourist etc. I met a girl there that is model level and plan to go back to see her in a few months.

We even went to local house parties. The best was when HE took me to some village in the north. The locals were in just total shock I was there! LOL!

We got invites to every other home for drinks and food! Met some fantastic village girls. There is a lot more girls than just Hotel Russia. But you got to know where to go!

Drank and ate a lot for free! It took awhile to find a solid GF, but it did happen. Was happy with the whole experience.

As I said almost none.

I had some girlfriends, but most of them were whack (I mean they were either lying, or too slow, or whatever)

But I had one girlfriend I spent a lot of time, she was virgin, and yes we had sex, but she didn't talk English.

Over all, it is not worth all the time I spent to get those girls, and I am young. I almost contacted all girls online.

I would get 20x more girls in Ukraine or Russia.

And also girls with good altitude, and that actually speak English.

I stayed in Moldova because I was tired of leaving / coming back to Ukraine because of the 90/180 rule.

But now I don't want to stay in Moldova at all, there is nothing good there.

I plan on visiting other countries maybe like Poland, or Hungary or Romania.

Most of all because they are European countries and I am European (french)

So I would be able to live there without worrying about leaving all the time!

When I rented an apartment I stayed less then 24 hours and I did not make the registration.

If you want to stay more you should call and ask before if the owner want to help with this.

If you stay in an hotel (and you want to stay more then 24h) you have to go to the "Passport stol" to make the registration showing the hotel bill.

If you stay at Hotel Russia (the most expensive of Tiraspol. 100 dollars / night) they will take care of it.

I have stayed recently in an appartment in Tiraspol.

Paid 50 dollars / night in the city center for a normal european flat.
