Hi guys,

Have any of you managed to monger in Ko Tao? Its an island fairly close to Koh Samui. Or is that more of a party destination for the younger foreign crowds?

Have a few karaoke bars and 2-3 ladybars only one ouich has reasonable prices same Samui all others think farang stupid some asking 2000 for massage or 4000 or more for LT.

Right up Mae Haed nice bar with pool, but actually super low saison in Thailand, only 3 girls, samui is dead too, but prefer bars at bangrak beach.

I spent over 2 weeks of February in Samui, most in Lamai. Here are my impressions.

Watch for the clusters of lady boys at the bars. One of my friends was tricked at the boxing ring bar cluster. He had already made a verbal deal when I happened to see him and question his choice. Watch for the standard warning signs: narrow hips, deep voice, overly aggressive, flat shoes, overly feminine motions, and Adam's apple.

The sex massage shops are mostly staffed by unattractive girls. The exception is on the north side of town in the Sunday night market area massage shops. There I found 3 or 4 true hotties who are available for 2000 baht for everything. Just don't go there during the night market.

There are very few hotties at the many bars. Make all the rounds before you decide where to settle. Behind McDonald's. Around boxing ring. South part of town behind Peacock bar. Behind the peacock bar cluster on the road that runs perpendicular to the beach. The road that runs toward boxing ring from slightly west of Peacock bar. These 5 clusters of bars probably have a total of 30-40 small outdoors bars staffed with 100-150 girls. Only a few look good enough to work at Nana Plaza. But, the bar fine is only about 500 baht and short time is only 1500-2000 baht for the best lookers. I found some good performers who earned my repeat business.

I found very few free lancers.

Don't go to Lamai Beach for the sex life. Go for the beach, nice weather, cleaner air, and relaxed environment. The limited available sex life is just a bonus.

Since I couldn't find any recent reports on Supa Porn (only on the predecessor Kimono) here's my experience a few weeks ago:

The shop is a bit far away from the centre of Chaweng and it's not a pleasant walk (taxi recommended). I had booked online in advance the platinum package with 2 ladies for 90 minutes (I had to treat myself a nice Christmas present). Damage: 3,750 be for all the services (except FS).

I was the first customer of the day, so I could choose from a lineup of about 8 ladies. No super stunners among them, but I liked the lovely smiles of Moo & Namiki.

My valuables were placed in a locker in the reception area and the Ladies led me to a nice, clean and spacious room with an attached bath room. There's no air mattress for nuru just a regular one covered in linen. Both ladies helped to undress me and made me already feel like a king.

Next was the shower. I sat on a Nuru chair which allows access to your neither regions. One Lady on the back and the other one in front made sure that I was spotless clean for the next act..

WIR: If I ever travel to Koh Samui again, definitely yes. It was a very hot session in nice ambience and I had great fun. As there are no other Nuru providers on Koh Samui (there might be anyway no other choice.

I was on Tao last year. It is very much a younger crowd. I did not see any service providers but I was not looking and I doubt if there are any.

Most of my experience is in Lamai where the free lance scene is not large. I managed to meet one who was hanging outside the 7-11 on the main Lamai drag just south of the center of town. I met another in a bar playing pool across the street and a little bit north. Neither was a fantastic experience. I think each one of them charged about 1500 or 2000 THB.

If it is free lancers that you seek, Lamai isn't a great location.

Lamai is definitely more low key than Chaweng. Lamai has 2 clusters of about 8 girly bars each, one cluster along the main strip and another a bit to the south. Sometimes as few as 3 girls per bar, sometimes as many as 8. Most of the girls are a bit older than ideal, but there should be one per night to make you happy.

If you want sex at a Lamai massage place, I doubt the large shops along the main drag offer much, but I could be wrong. If you go by the south cluster of bars there are a few massage shops along there were you can get a crappy massage and sex from an average looking 25-40 year old Thai girl. I think I paid about 1500-2200 THB for those services.

Enjoy whichever you choose. I'm doing mostly Lamai in February, maybe that's because I'm old as dirt and can't take too much hot night life.

This is not best time of year for beauty of the Koh Samui beeches, late Jan to Feb would be better, but depends on your purpose. The sea becomes crystal clear in Phuket much earlier, so it could be nicer in December. Different weather on different sides of Thailand. You don't have to stay in Patong beech, there are other options. Depends just how touristy you want it.

Many thanks to you and Golfinho for the swift replies. I should have made clear that my "upcoming" trip is not until early Jan though I suspect your comments equally apply. As I've never been to Pattaya I have 2 days there and want to experience it once. This limits my time in Samui / Phuket to only 2, max three days as I have an outward flight back home via KL so have to get back there.

In honesty I'm not overly that worried here about the quality of the sea! It's really about the quality of the mongering options in Samui or Phuket. Having been to KL then Pattaya I'm thinking I don't really need / want the big showtime feel of Bangla but I do like Phuket as a place otherwise. Backstreets away from Bangla round to Amari were a bit grim when I was last there though. I like Samui as a place and the airport is close. Just wondered what the action is likely to be like in early Jan. Lots of reports in several forums of bars closing (Pattaya) and wondered if the scene now in Samui might be a bit dead? Really appreciate the help guys. Thanks.

Love Fishermans for the beach but never seen any action there? About to book hotels. Only have 2 nights this time (BKK and Pats first). Would appreciate feedback. Play safe and head back to Chaweng or is Lamai worth risking my 2 days / nights instead? Have seriously contemplated Phuket instead but last time in Bangla I thought it was a bit of a dump.

Two nights only? It's Chaweng hands-down. Rent a bike and have a daytrip to Lamai, where you can identify a romantic hotel to bring your P4P girlfriend (or a real one!) to next time. Maybe Lamai is better is high season, but I always avoid Thailand during those months, so dunno.
