First off, correction on my first report. It was the Dragon Bar, not the Na Na Bar, where I found the cute girls.

So the alcohol ban ended at midnight last night. I went out to see if the bars would be opening for a few hours or just wait until Monday. Pretty much most of the bars were open. There were a couple I saw that stayed closed, but vast majority were open. Big problem was there were no customers! Having just 2 customers sitting down qualified as crowded and I would say more than half of the bars had no customers at all.

I have been to Lamai many times, usually in February and I also love the Girl boxing night.
I have stopped going to Lamai now but maybe I'll go back sometime, I just came to the conclusion it was not worth the air fare etc etc.

I've been reading this site for years, but never wrote any reports because I'm an inexperienced and infrequent monger. I'm kind of shy and I hate haggling so I always overpay. I'm just writing this report because there are not many reports on Samui so I thought it might help others who are thinking of visiting.

First of all, Samui is dead. I don't know how much of it is due to being the rainy season, the stronger baht, or political uncertainty, but there's hardly any tourists here right now. If you increased the number of tourists by 500% it might, just might qualify as sleepy. It's pretty nice if you want a really quiet beach vacation, but I find the emptiness of all the restaurants and stores a little depressing.

As was stated yesterday, there's currently a ban on alcohol on the island that's supposed to last until midnight tonight. I've only been here in Lamai so I don't know how it affects the other parts of the island, but all the girly bars are dark, the farang and beach bars that serve food are open, but business is really slow. I imagine there are a lot of pissed off European tourists here with ruined holidays because of the alcohol ban.

I got here on Thursday so there was still some life my first day. Was worn out by the long flight so took a nap that went a little long. Woke up at 10: 30pm and decided to go check things out.

There appear to be 3 main areas for girly bars in Lamai. The cluster around the boxing ring across from Fusion Club, a small cluster a few steps down next to the McDonalds, and a strip of bars behind Lamai Plaza which wraps around to just behind the Swiss Chalet restaurant.

On my first night I went to the strip behind Lamai Plaza. The bars all seemed more or less open, but customers were few and they tended to gather around only a few bars. I don't enjoy being the only guy at a bar and having everyone focus on me so I went to one of the bars that had a decent crowd. I believe the one I went to was called the Na Na Bar close to the Swiss Chalet, but across the street.

There were about 9 girls inside the bar. Some serving, some dancing on the platform, some just milling around. Outside the bar there were other girls mixing with some of the customers. I don't know if they were associated with the bar or what, but they were all generally older and less attractive than the girls in the bar. Out of the 9 girls in the bar, I would say there were 3 I would not go with at all, 2 I would have found acceptable if I were horny and there were no other options. 4 I found attractive in one way or another. None that would hit the high level of stunner that other mongers look for, but 4 out of 9 is actually a much better ratio than I've ever found at any of the mps in Bangkok, so I was pretty satisfied and stuck around that bar all night.

During my last visit, 2 weeks ago, full Samui was pretty quiet
I usually stay in Maenam (ok, not the top for mongering) and vetnuring around a bit: bars not much populated, the general offer in terms of girls was ok, but not many stunners.
My Bar has good supply in terms of girls, some a bit pushy, great music.
Sabai-sabai seems a bit its own shadow.
Yo-yo becomes a rent-a-bike place (much need, lol)
