If I recall, that's typically a deserted section of beach even pre COVID. Let us know how the bar screen looks a smidge north of you in Lamai proper. The boxing ring and behind McDonald's were empty in March. The bars to the south had plenty of old hags available for the few old expats (Peacock and Suda bars are most visible with many bars off the street). My buddy left Lamai a week ago, at which time he said things were just starting to improve after 2 dismal months.

I suspect Samui remains a good BYO destination, which is what I did last trip.

I'm too lazy to check out Lamai bars. In the evenings I hang out naked in my hotel room with sea view and with my Isan FL and her soft and beautiful skin. We checked out Chaweng Beach today. I saw one Indian. There were people at the beach but definitely not crowded.

I'm also always baffled how Koh Samui has somehow duped british and aussie guy groups to come there, thinking its some type of cool party place with your bros. Like, really?

I'm a seasoned monger. Heading to samui soon. I have lined (pun intended) three girls for my trip. I'm looking for a holiday GF and one appears to be the one. Of course, shit may go sideways once in country. Will report back.

As is typical for Thailand, the number of bars is wildly higher than the available customers need. There are huge empty bars in the Chawent area, and plenty of small bars with bored ladies.

Compounding the problem is the large number of tourists who come as families. So the ladies see a steady stream of baby carriages passing by their bar.

Probably 50% of tourists come from India or Israel.

Thai ladies love Instgram type photos and Samui would be top 5 for locations to impress their airhead followers.

No idea about pricing here, but lots of bars are open, many ladies available, few customers.

A bunch of friends and I are planning to travel Koh Samui during the second week of September for the Half Moon Party since we can't make it to the full moon one. On a general note, we plan to rent an AirBNB of sorts in Koh Samui and travel to Koh Phangan for the party and back. 2 nights in Koh Samui and 1 night in BKK. I've been doing a little bit of RTFF but it looks like much of the scenario has changed going by the latest comments. My question being, is it still a good time to go considering the half moon party scenario and pulling WGs? We're like 6 of us and all we plan to do is get high and fuck. Looking forward to your suggestions. Cheers.

I'm sure by September Koh Samui will be swinging away and there will be plenty of girls in various areas -- that said, Koh Samui really isn't like BKK for that sorta stuff, sure, its there, but Samui is like the "nice" island and more geared towards general vacationers at the beach than it is for nightlife or fucking. It's more a vacation island than a party spot. Look, if you guys just want to grab some girls each night either on the street or at the "beer bars", yes there will be girls in certain areas, and yes you can fuck them. Its just a far cry from BKK stuff. On getting high, I don't know the current weed situation there, but you can prob find it, and maybe mushrooms, maybe. From Koh Phangan, there are some places that sell molly, but if you're just going over for the party, you won't have time to get it, but you can do mushrooms shakes at mushroom mountain. They're a bit pricey and just OK, you'll probably need more than 1.

OK on the party -- yeah you can do the boat over / back to Koh Phangan, it works fine, but be prepared to be up all night.

I agree, not many motorcyle taxis around. Usually plenty of taxis to be found but they are expensive, fixed fees. Loads of places to rent a moped.

Do I need an international driver's license to rent a moped?

I haven't been there since March, so I cannot answer first hand, but I have a friend in Lamai right now. We spoke on Saturday and he says there are plenty of working girls, but most are old and unattractive. Only a few scattered doable girls. He said Chaweng isn't any better.

I've never noticed any of the moon parties drawing extra working girls to Samui.

The second week of September is a long time off, so things will change (for bettor or worse). Whatever is in Samui now is different than you will find in September. But remember, at best Samui has just a few hot girls in each area, maybe 5 or 10 on the whole island during the good times. Don't expect the same kind of selection as in Bangkok, Pattaya, or Patong.

I've been to Phuket many times. This will be my first trip to Samui. Is it easy finding motorcycle taxis in Lamai?
