Jony Vegas, during carnival, it is best to rent a 10 day apartment because hotels cost $150USD per day or more during the 5 days of Carnival. The only catch to the apartment is that you have to take the package for no less than 10 days for $763 ($76.30 per day or they claim $90 per day for the 5 days and $30 each additional day after). Hmm, 10 days in Rio where there are the best looking women in the world who are not right winged feminist prudes in New York, I'll definitely take it! And I'm talking about apartment in Copacabana beach.
About Help and other discoteques, they are not worth it. They go back to your hotel room for $100USD or R300 for less than an hour. These women are much more expensive than the ones in the termas so I suggest going to the termas to spend the hours. The addresses and phone numbers of the termas are listed in www.ipanema.com. This site also lists the discoteques and non-pro night clubs.

I need some info on apartments or hotels central to the Carnaval and beach action, what to expect from the ladies (both professional and non-professional, costs associated with Carnaval (what are package deals going for, and what's thier availability?), and the low-down on where to find the best action. I usually monger alone or with a bi-girl who does most of the advance work and re-con; sometimes, when I know the places I'm going I'll go with one friend or a couple of business acquaintances....otherwise, I'm a solo nocturnal rambler.

What I've noticed (and from my own rookie and sophomore phases 20 yrs ago) is that a lot of guys get shitfaced drunk and end up doing the not-so-protected nasty with some women whom they wouldn't have touched even with a pretentious poseur such as yourself's dick had they been even moderately juiced as opposed to slammo and fault-blind.

One thing guys who are trying to save money do or if you go to places with strict no-takeout policies (eg. some KTV's in Asia) or you are in a country where fraternizing with gringos outside the casa is looked down upon (eg. some Caribbean places if the girl is a local) is get a cell phone no. and/or arrange a next-day rendez-vous...it;s amazing how different that 9 can look when you are sober and she is not playing you on the game in a deceptively lit club.

My favourite chica recon companion is an obstetric unit nurse in Sampa--she can really tell a lot about telltale signs of possible STD's or other often hidden health issues.

And, yeah, JG, like Duh-uh-uh, I think most people know you can pick up infections from women who show no overt signs, which is why I try and avoid high-risk providers in favour of amateurs or high maintenance semi-pros.

I'll be in BA and Br in March and have already lined up a number of chicas for some tryouts...if I'm actually going to travel with someone and have a lot of repeat exposure, I'm going to have her and any other bi-friend/threesome companion checked out and tested at a reputable clinic--I know too many guys who have ended up with painful and potentially permanently damaging STD's because they went crazy and damn the consequences.

I think we all agree that "bleeding gums" and "foul odors" are definitely good signs that you should stay away from that area of the body/that person. Daaaah. Isn't that stating the obvious? well, unless you are an MD my friend you are full of it; and if you are, then I suggest you brush up on yr. tropical climate infections.

I took your post seriously enough that I phoned a close family member who is an expert on tropical diseases and infectious diseases.

She said that you do not have to be seriously immuno suppressed to get a persistent fungal malady sticking in yr. throat.

When I did have this some 20 yrs ago, I had also had a mild form of dengue type flu for sveral days, which certainly caused some immuno-supression (as can too much wine, women and early mornings).

The mild form dengue I got from a mosquito. The fungal infection either came from my villa's rainwater cistern or from sex partners...I was prescribed antiobiotics and injected with a jolt as well as checked for syphillis...the fungal infection disappeared soon after treatments.

You can also get persistent sore throats and some glandular irritations fromother STD's as well as from mono or flu type viruses.

As for medical checks and close inspections...personal hygiene is very important--especially if, like me, you like to hang and do repeat GFE with a couple of threesome-prone homegirls. Bleeding gums, certain vaginal discharges or certain redolent odours are often pretty good signs that you ought not to probe certain oprifices unless well wrapped in plastic.

Kissing and oral sex are a lot of the experience but taking precautions when you travel is well-advised--especeially in countries where first-rate, free or low-cost health-care is limited or unavailable to much of the local population.
