Unfortunately, I have some fairly well educated friends back in the states who drank the kool aid as well.

I don't blame them, nor anyone else, for having a different point of view, when it comes to politics. However, when it comes to all of the crazy conspiracy theories we've heard over the past few years, I don't know what to say.

Somehow, he found that suspicious decides to hire a private. The detective investigated her but cannot find a trace of her in any of the places where he searches for her records (such as wedding registry, birth certificates etc.) he finally found out that the reason she was not register was that she was actually a a transvestite who was waiting to collect enough money for the surgery and then marry the "victim". His family was aware and being more accepting of such things did not find any issue about it. Fortunately for him, the detective found out before. It's a bit romanticized but I believe most stories are based on actual cases as the author claims. In any case anyone going to places like that should read the book. It's entertaining and gives a realistic picture of the dark side of such places, in case we fail to notice it.

There are many well connected Pinoy private investigators in AC and Cebu who can quickly undertake background checks on your sweethearts before you marry them and take them away to RWML for a life of bliss. They will go through Barangay records, school records, church records (if they exist), marriage records, employment history and social media posts to paint a proper picture of the girl you want to make your wife. It's also important to accurately determine how big her extended family actually is so you know how many mouths to feed and how much to set aside each month for medical bills, birthday parties, school tuition, lechon feasts, weddings and vet fees for the sick buffalos. The pointlessness of ambition has been drummed into them for generations. Most realise that they will never significantly better their lot in life because they don't have the required high powered business or family connections. They are the casualties or corruption and nepotism, not the beneficiaries, they always will be and they know it. Why put in the effort / aspirations if it's just wasted?

Conversely the Chinese have milenias history of putting in the effort to become the town / country / global business elite.

What you say is true, but this is my observation so I question the value of intellectual curiosity in a wife / partner. I have many male friends who are married to fellow pharmacists and lawyers. The guys who are financially successful earning 200 k+, their wives all quit working after the birth of their first child. The guys who earn a "mere" 100 k, their wives still work but begrudge the husbands for having to continue to work. So tell me why is it that important to have a wife who is well educated with a career when more than likely they will stop working if you are sufficiently wealthy, why not get a uneducated wife who will value you more as she knows she needs you. Its a fact that as women become more educated the higher the divorce rate.

I have always found talking to other men more enjoyable as you don't have to deal with the feminists' perspective. When I was working on my masters my international law professor was a lawyer that had a friend working at the US embassy in Bangkok. For whatever reason, his wife was in the States. They were at some kind of function when his American wife found out about his Thai wife. I had not been to Asia yet, but now that I have, I completely understand the story and it sounds pretty normal.

He also told us about a client that got busted for something coming through US Customs. They did not say anything to the guy at the time, they just sent him a bill in the mail. He then bargained with them for a lower fine.

Post history reviewing is something I do when I see questions from a poster with between 1-20 posts and / or questions that a RTFF can answer. And yes ED is right you ask lots but not actually FR if / when you go.

Had you RTFF and read the news you would know the current situation here. In fact a quick review of hotels combined, Agoda hotels.com etc would answer one question. A review of some Philippine news web sites can help with the other for example.
