Yes, I wasted a of time with them. I was recently in Manila, and found bunch of the WeChat girls sitting outside a Pacific Coffee (I believe), near Greenbelt 4 (near the Shangri-La, in any case) working their phones. I should have just walked around there and picked on. Beware "models" who are much taller than the average Filipina.

That's very much been my experience too RK. I was in Poblacion enjoying a lazy afternoon on the terrace at Treehouse and was pretty exasperated by the lack of real girls. I find Skout and Badoo much more reliable in this regard.

Compared to a few years ago, or even only one year ago, more and more girls (and I mean real girls) are using WeChat and I usually have more hits than I can handle. I admit it can take quite some time to chat with all these girls in order to find the really nice ones and the occasional 'gem', but so does bar hopping. And the latter is way more expensive.

I haven't come across any imposters lately but maybe that depends on where you use WeChat. I can imagine there are more imposters in a big city like Manila than in AC for example.
And yes, there are many ladyboys but 95% is easily identified and over the years I've only had a few questionable denials.

Firstly, some translation advice (according to my experiences as a long-term resident here). Bakla is defined in my dictionaries by the pejorative term (nowadays anyway) as "homosexual". Google via Wikipedia says that "in modern Filipino, it can mean either "effeminate man" or "homosexual". Cebuanos use either bayot or bakla to describe gay men. "Tomboy" is the universal term for women who have a mannish appearance and are lesbian but this excludes the sexy feminine woman who is bisexual and also lesbian. BTW, it is not an insulting term, and filipinos use tomboy/bakla / bayot all the time to describe other people.

Re WeChat. In case you are very specifically referring to middle-aged filipinos, the answer is still very much a big YES.

At risk of being accused of over-generalizing, I suggest that almost all filipinos have a bilbil (that's Tagalog for "fat belly; men and women), and the exceptions are usually the scrawny and skinny ones who look like matchsticks. A quick stroll along any street or through any mall will soon verify it.

Westie am I in for the first category or second category of offering. Agree the Burgos barfine system is nuts. My deflation on burgos post two years ago where I predicted that the more competitive pricing of the Kojax / Plan be / Hot Spot troika would force the reduction in ladies drinks / bar fine prices of the delusional bars has not come to fruition. But I will still stick with that prediction. 2017 is going to be a very bad year for the world economy and the Philippines will get hit hard. Lets see what happens in 2017 to the Burgos delusional bars (like Bananas, Papillion, High Heels, the new Dimples etc). You get the occasional gems in some of these lower traffic bars (like the girl I seeked out in Bananas) and when I ask them why they stay there given there is virtually no customers its either I don't want to leave my friends or secondly its better to be a big fish in small pond than a small fish in a big pond. In actual fact I was there on burgos a few nights between Christmas and new years and in actual fact I was probably the one who did the BF at Bananas the new girl you spoke to referred to. The new girl was dancing on stage (quite tall but a little chubby?). They tried to push the new girl on me but I was there specifically to rekindle a lost contact who had moved to Bananas. The BF was discounted to 3000. That is correct. Tall, booby, a bit much in the tummy. No discounted barfine was mentioned to me (I was in there either alone, or with my LT squeeze, several times over 2 nights). When I stopped in GoGo Bananas (near Kalayann), there was only one girl dancing. I assumed others would rotate but the mama said only one girl tonight. After 2 g / t's myself, I asked for the gorda and bought her a drink. The mama said it was the gorda's first week in the bar, no barfines yet (Duma). The girl herself said that she had seen only one other girl barfine in the previous week (BF=3900, crazy).......I went out on 3 nights along Burgos, and was fairly disappointed with the talent in the bars (but found cuties on the street). AS I have mentioned in previous posts I am a regular on Burgos (3 nights a month) and you can't compare Burgos between Christmas / New year to regular times. The beauty of bars (Burgos / Edsa / AC) is you get to see the girls in all their glory. I went to Classmates and Pegasus a few months ago where they are wearing uniforms. The only place where I still visit the bars is Pattaya where I can limit it to those bars where I usually won't be pestered by the girls, like Baccara and Happy, and can enjoy the eye candy.
