Marriage is an archaic institution IMHO. Financially binding yourself to someone in this day and age of 50% divorce rates make me cringe. If you like someone stay with them. When you don’t like them anymore you can leave without a taking an emotional or financial hit. Well thanks for the encouragement guys. I still feel bad. If I had been a little more patient, I could have enjoyed the pussy (and bare back sex) for a full year or more before she took off. Would have gotten more for my trouble.

Not really a keeper though. Immigration should give us a 1 year deadline to get married on a K1 Visa. I have observed that in the Phils its common amongst poor flips (the majority of the population) to live in a defacto relationship. ie cohabit without formal legal marriage. They describe themselves as 'married' & she may even have a ring but no marriage registration has taken place with the government.

Legalities are loosely observed because of lack of money for wedding ceremony costs/officials etc.

I do agree with your anecdote about paying to make inconvenient past events go away. Paying to have past marriages vanish, paying to have missing birth, education, health, death records appear, yes that is very common.

The only time a Filipina will shack-up with another man is after they have been married and the marriage goes south. Since the Philippines is mainly a catholic country, they don't believe in divorce so it's extremely difficult if not impossible for them to do. They tend to go with the alternative instead; "The Life Partner", as so many Filipinas have told me they have, is someone they leave their spouse for to live with indefinitly (or until they meet a new Life Partner) Culturally, it's exceptable for them to shack-up with their Life Partner.

Which reminds me of a story. While in Korea a friend of mine married a Filipina Bar girl who was a friend of one of the girls I was seeing at the time. Lesson not learned: You don't need to get married to lead a happy life. Save your money, take your trips abroad, screw the most delectable young morsels the world has to offer, and then go back to your home country and start the cycle all over again. Maybe when you're old enough to collect Social Security or better yet, start receiving a pension, then go live your remaining years of life abroad chasing young (or old) pussy in third world countries. But if you do marry a foreign girl, stay, work and live in her country if possible. Taking her back home to meet momma so to speak, is not a good idea. She will hardly ever meet your expectations.
