I am considering taking a trip in the next few weeks. Are there any long time mongers that have been to the Sosua and POP area in the years of 2007 up until now?

I need some perspective on whether it's worth the trip. I haven't been since 2007-2011 and those were great years to be there. From all the post' it seems like things have taken a nose dive. Any immediate insight would be very helpful.

I was looking at Cartagena as a possible destination but I have never been there and it doesn't appear that GFE and TNL are the norms like they have been in the DR.

Philippine Islands is another possibility but again I have never been. Decisions. I would like to branch out and check new places but the familiarity and relaxed atmosphere in DR is a huge draw.
