The discussion started back in Feb when someone asked about digital cameras. I say discussion because the exchange was civil and intended to be helpful...until you started with the four letter words.

ISG is fairly informative forum on a variety of subjects. If you want to see more pix and less 'chatter', there are lots of other better sites to jerk off to....

Hopefully you won't bring the same attitude on your first visit LOS later this april....

I bought one of these last month for my mother and took it on a trip to China. The features looked great for the price but I found that you do get what you pay for. All the pictures were insipid and I'm pleased that the camera was dropped and damaged, as the replacement, the Canon Ixus 55, while more expensive is superior in every way. I had insurance which covered the damage, luckily.

Sorry about that....the one I borrowed and used for a few weeks was fine. Glad things worked out though.

I agree with all the previous comments. Digital is the less expensive. For an amateur, Olympus digital 600 is perfect and below 300 $ ! I will test mine on the field next month! I hope to get nice pics to show!

BTW, just to keep interest to this thread, I attach a nice pic.

Yes,i also agreed but for me bro.If you could spend another USD 350,you might get a nice digital camera from Nikon (model S1,S2 or S3).This compact camera have enourmous function until you can zoom it to the nice pixel.Try it out and discover.

It is the lens that takes the picture, not the camera!
If you stick with the companies that make the best lenses, you can't go wrong as far as picture quality goes.
Namely the big five: Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Fuji and Sony.
Digital cameras and memory cards are droping like a rock.
I have seen 512MB cards go for $20 USD!

Right now, there is a great, small pocket camera, at Costco.com

Casio EX Z-110, for about $180

6 megapixels (12X18 enlargements easily),
3X optical zoom,
2AA batteries,
SD card,
makes video movie with audio; and it has digital stablizer (not mechanical stablizing like the Canon IS or Nikon VR lenses, or Konica-Minolta SLR), but it still helps a lot in dimmer light (like indoors).
This Casio is very fast in response and in flash re-cycling time (for the next shot), small for the belt clip, so one can get shots anytime, anywhere.

I am also getting a camera so that I can contribute pictures as well.Firstly is it better to get a film or digital camera for long run economy.I heard digital cameras only last a few years.Is it better to buy a branded camera?Thanks
