    Movie

So I recently caught "Up in Smoke" on and it had been some time since I had seen it. While watching the scenes taken on the streets of LA I pondered what those same streets look like now and how full of trash and homeless people they would be. I try to spend as little time in LA as possible but the parts that I see on videos or when I do visit look like an earthquake has hit and everyone just living in tents on the streets.

Soon after in the movie they are in Tijuana on Revolución across from hotel Nelson and the old Diamonte Bar. Lots of buses and hustle and bustle going on. The funny thing is that in contrast to the scenes from LA and my idea of how bad it is now I had the opposite view of what has become of that same area in Tijuana.

I think this is how it works. Tijuana is also very tied in with the San Diego economy. And I think San Diego just got the #1 expensive city badge in the USA in 2023.

    2. All the bars were cracked down about smoking while the its mayor hides on an army base and hides from sicarios, while the narco war heats up, cops are getting hunted down, and business owners are getting death threats. Real death threats with managers from HK getting eliminated, and not just hey I don't like you threats.

    3. Trannies are walking around a lot and mingling with others on the streets. They are pushing their boundaries a lot especially at the school girl corner across from Chicago and the Gloria Bar. But they are tall and big and very well dressed. They are actually over dressed and fit and wear expensive makeup. Never mind the giant dick underneath.
Yea Tijuana is a ripoff now. The last time. I was passing thru I stopped to eat tacos at a taco cart by the border and they were selling tacos de asada for 32 pesos each. With the exchange rate having lowered to only 16 that makes it $2 per taco. Such a fucking ripoff. When I lived there it was always 20 pesos per dollar and 18 pesos per taco. Tijuana has become a ripoff now. It's best just to leave Tijuana in the rear view mirror as to not tarnish the memories I have in my mind.

Here in Thailand, the local currency is 36 for $1, which makes everything cheap. This means a 2000 baht Long Time is $55 (todo la noche).

But, Tijuana is too expensive for me now. I just can't bring myself to pay $120+ for Short Time. Maybe next time I go to Tijuana, the peso will drop.

Last week 4 of us went for a late lunch. The place was only about 10% occupied. With 1 beer each, the bill came to $112 or $28 each. Granted the dollar was lower but still that was over 100% increase.

In comparison, plenty of Korean BBQ in OC charge only $20-22 AYCE with far better selections of meats and seafood, but they charge $5 for beers and $12 for Soju.

There is less incentive now to have Korean BBQ in Tijuana.
Prices are up everywhere, guys are complaining on all the pages. Unfortunately, I do not see the economy improving anytime soon, so my advice is to adapt. Look for ways too make more money and cut costs when you can.

For me I spend very little money in America now just the necessities. I save my money for my trips to MTY and CDMX. Also, I made some changes to my business and added another service that should pay for my mongering addiction.

There will also be opportunities from all this mess, many will simply not be able to travel as much or will have to make major sacrifices. So, no sense complaining work hard and adapt.

    Countries with the worst inflation

    Argentina 116 %.

    Syria 139 %.

    Lebanon 254 %.

    Venezuela 404 %.

Putas' Republic of Hong Kong 100 %.

Fight inflation. Secure your virginity. Maintain celibacy.

Inflation has been worldwide. However, inflation of the CPI in the US has been less than just about any other country. Here's an image of the comparison between the US and Mexico. You can do this for any group of countries here: https://www.ft.com/content/088d3368-...-a7680d4d81b2..

The cause of currency pair exchange rates maybe "simple" -- probably boiling down to what a cabal of currency traders decide will make them the most money that day. One of the factors that may influence them are comparative government bond yields: the US is currently 4%; whereas Mexico is 9%. I am currently betting that USD / MXN will be >18 by the end of September.

One of the factors that influences the relative strength of a currency is the perception of safety. The recent kooky Republican threat of US default correlated perfectly with a sharp and continued decline of the USD.

    Exchange rate

Please kindly explain to us financial novices how the exchange rate between Mexico and the US have anything to do with the Democratic "woke" agenda? I am dying to hear your explanation.

Disagree on the trannies at least during daylight hours.

It's not going to get any better.

Tijuana is in a 2 to 5 year growth period. Either it succeeds and continues to grow or there will be collapse and things will get cheaper but not until then.

Studio 54 only lasted 2 years. Tijuana had a good run. It was fun while it lasted.
    Very correct assessment.

As long as money is cheap which is no more by the way prices would go up.

I see no reason to monger in Tijuana although I live close to border.

Your assessment is correct, but everything is getting more expensive and difficult every where in the world, not just Tijuana.
