AC, that's just the way things are in Kyiv as far as prices goes. If you don't want to deal with it stay in Italy, please.

When I was there this winter you could still get an internet girl for $60, good looking apartment girls were going for $80-100, dancers at my favorite club could be had for $200 and I could (and did) score a girl at RP for $200. I got an Arena bar girl down to $100 - Irish Lad can tell you if she was worth it, he was sitting a bar stool away from her. My flock of semi pro's were still at $100 but they were seldom used.

If you want to live like a westerner in Kyiv it's expensive has been since 2004 . Most people think it was around 2005 when prices started getting expensive - that wasn't when they got expensive, that is when they started getting crazy! The petro boom of 2003 starting making things more expensive in Kyiv and Moscow. We can only hope when the bubble pops things will start going down fast. If you don't want to deal with it, when you get to Kyiv start following Bez on the train to smaller cities. Or stay at a Left Bank apartment and go to Left Bank clubs, which aren't as inexpensive as they used to be either, just ask Life.

In January, last time I was in Kiev 1 USD = 5.05, today 4.5, so actually I saved nearly 250 uah! Damn good haha!

As for the Hyatt, they didn't just snicker, they laughed in my face! "What kind of idiot pays this much for a f'n hotel room?"

Fortunately its a biz expense (the hyatt not the girls, well maybe not!) but eto pravda, that place is over the top price wise.
