Dubai - Hotel Information

[Slugger]

Stayed at the Avari again in Diera last weekend. All change.

Thursday night they wanted to see passport copies, and on Saturday night the jumped up little prick behind reception ended up putting a 200 DHS charge on the rooms, that's 200 per each guest !!

WTF!!

Didn't pay it when we checked out obviously and will never stay there again.

Avoid it like the plague, there is plenty better for the money.

I reccomend The Radisson Deira , Towers Rotana Top shelf places and no passports required just walk on in and go bout your business.

Last time I stayed at the OLD one about a month ago it was still good, only a copy of the girls passport required (about half the time they didn't ask for anything though). I was describing the NEW Four Points below.

Will be in DBX for two nights in about a week... Currently have reservation at old Four Points Sheraton and am a little concerned regarding whether or not it remains "Green"... Considering canceling that reservation and booking a room at Dar Al Sondos.

Cost is not really a consideration as the price difference is only 400 Dhm. All things considered, (location, GF, quality of room) which would be your preference?

Well, I decided to push my luck last night and brought back a girl who I knew didn't have her original passport with her (I think this is the norm?). I thought maybe the desk jockey would have some leeway. NOPE, nothing but the original and a visa letter to will do. DENIED ENTRY!

Friday my GF was in town and I brought her. The guy at the desk started to say something about "same procedure as last night" before I shot him the most murderous look I've ever had. Fortunately chica didn't notice.

I called my regular girl, but she wasn't available and suggested that I call her friend. I get a call back from the front desk saying there is a girl waiting to see me. I say it is okay. A minute later the guy at the desk brings her up and gets me to sign the copy of her passport. He smiles saying have a nice night. I did.

There is nothing like ordering in when you've had a long day!

Meanwhile I arrived at Doha tonight at midnight (instead of 8pm as planned - I hate flying!) One night wasted, only two more to go. Will report on Qatar thread if anything happens.

4 Points:
Nicely and newely furnished. Not as a good a location as the old 4 Points. But still very easy walking distance to Regal, et all... Tell your driver it's beside the Dhow Palace hotel if he has trouble finding it. Both girls I brought here had been before and had problems. Both were suprised when we walked in and straight to the elevator without a word from the front desk. The door to elevator walk is quite short and the reception is off to the side a bit so quite easy to walk in and to an open/waiting elevator before they have a chance to say anything. One of the girls was certain she would be denied entry. Not sure why. Being new, the decor is nice and more spacious. I prefer it to the old 4 Points. More furniture in the room to bend a girl over.
