There IS always the Dallas Hotel (which I can say I've used, YEARS ago), but just make sure you bring your shower (flip-flop) sandals. Not only for the shower - that carpet has seem better days. Still laugh when the receptionist asked how many DAYS I would be staying (HOURS the accurate specification), with 2 PRC's with me. Given my passport was at my non-GF hotel (didn't know about this forum), used my US driver's license. Ah, those were the days...
A few might offer you LT at their place, especially if they have their own bedroom, but more the rule that it's ST. And the places I've visited, even the nice ones... I've always preferred to depart back to the COMFORT of my own hotel.
Nice to see a new name with SOMETHING to say. Hopefully, you'll have a 2nd post sooner rather than later.

Maybe you get an answer. Maybe no response (and posting SAME question AGAIN really NOT the way to get any answers - we might be senior, but most of us can remember where we left off reading). Or maybe you get slammed with a UTFSE (most likely from myself) response.
But one thing that REALLY irks me is the "Is Hotel XYZ" girl friendly question (where xyz is not a "known" hotel) ... then nothing.
OK, maybe you didn't get a response, or the response you got was not what you wanted. But how about giving something BACK?!? Maybe a few trips get cancelled, but I'd venture to say most do come, do stay at Hotel XYZ, then never report the experience for the benefit of others. Someone's got to be first.
Even if it's at a known hotel (like Emirates Towers), nice to have updated reports (and in the proper thread so EASY to search and parse for the hotel list update). Doesn't take any more time to write "Hotel XYZ no problem" or "Hotel XYZ big problem" as it does to write the original question.
Plus, besides just being nice, it can also help your "validity" score. "Members" who post nothing but questions, few reports, I certainly tend to classify them as clutter.

Things to learn - newbie mistakes
Arrived in Dubai last week. No glue at all.
Stopped by Rattlesnake Wednesday night with a colleague. Band was playing and we had a beer listening to the music.
When scanning around there was that cute PRC. On eye contact she and her friend came by - very bad English but very nice.
"Go with you?" It was easy to understand. "What do you want for coming?" "You decide, it is up to you".
Sounded promising. Left together in cab to the Emirates Towers. Was 2.30 am and the lobby was empty. Guard did not let us to my room and sent us t reception. Wanted original passport and 300 surcharge for the guest.
She had only a passport copy with her, the receptionist was unbreakable.
I finally gave up, brought her to the taxi with 100 UAD cab money and she left. She left with a promising hug and my dream disappeared on the drive way.
Went to bed alone.
Lesson 1: avoid Emerates Towers
Lessen 2: Read the hotel forum before visiting Dubai
Lesson 3: Probably ask for the price before you take her with you.
Question: would I have done better going to her place? Would it be safe to come with her?
Hope for more luck next time.

Best I can say is, try it and see, but with all that auto exhaust, I'd think they'd be pretty polluted.

I stand corrected, and am not too proud to admit a mistake. Seems Mazo99 posed the SAME question on the dxb thread, but when he didn't get an answer within 24 hours, guess he felt he needed to post it in the hotel section. Guess some salaries will be docked; an unsatisfied customer whose question was not answered in the required period.

[QUOTE=Mike De H]The three Metropolitan Hotels on the list are correctly named.
"I often stay in the Metropolitan Hotel in Diera. "
--------------------------------------------------
Yes, the Metroploitan in Deira is where the 'Air-Astana' cabin crew (From Kazakhstan) stay when they are in town and they are definetely worth an occassional flutter. They often turn up in the places of entertainment Deira side and are great fun and often keen to supplement their aviation incomes.

The other, the older and cheaper one, with no qualifiers in the name, just "Metropolitan Hotel" is very resonably priced and is green, sometimes asking for a copy passport and sometimes not.

When I start deep french kissing in the lobby i don't have to wonder, when i get in trouble.
Behave yourself in a discreet and modest way, and you won't have too many problems.
So long, have fun!

I have no problems with the hotel taking a passport/visa copy of the girl's documents. Demanding ORIGINAL documents - no. As for "additional" charges... guess it comes down to how the room was booked, single or double.

Hi there,
in general i don't understand at all the hotel policies of RED, or GREEN.
OK, when the flood of prositutes in a hotel gets too frequent, some guests might be disturbed and have the impression to stay in a cheep brothel.
But this is also always a question of discretion by the men bringing back the ladies to the hotel.
When i'm fucking drunk and bring back very loud some WG's then i understand very well, that the hotel won't tolerate this too often :-)
But when i'm just coming back with the WG as i'd come home with my wife or girl friend, nobody will be discussed or disturbed.
For travellers like me, on open policy (GREEN) gives in my opinion a better recommandation to the hotel than to be on the list as RED, becaue these are the places to avoid.
Some hotels like e.g. the MERIDIEN AIRPORT or also the SOFITEL City Center are absolute favourite places in terms of tolerating WG's. In the Meridien, the doorman even opens the door and welcomes you with y big smile, even when you bring home the 2nd or 3rd WG this day. No supplement charges, no questions.
What's your opinion about that?
So long, have fun!
Jimmyk
btw.: A very big thanks to 11Bravo, Sporadic and all the other experts keeping these very useful informations up to date!

I have quite a few mongering friends and business colleagues due to stay at various hotels in DXB over next few months and will remember to interrogate accordingly as to the GF nature of their particular hotel.
Any REDS will get a post here immediately, info of this type and quality is advantageous to all.
