Jia Yi has been getting worse and worse over the past year with quality. i have at least two times gone there and picked duds that I didn't take, or actually left and went elsewhere. and no i wasn't late either so there from the beginning. plus the ones chosen had bad attitudes and perhaps as someone said before were bbs girls who didn't know there duties at ktv, now i recall that one didn't know how to play dice. isn't htat a give away to a bbs girl?

Errrrr....howzabout competition?? From the newly opened (at last!!) Mayflower/Wan yi.

    Rooms at JY

But other peoples' posts say they got denied access to flower street, because they did not have a ktv booking.
I think the policy is that you have to have some type of booking to hit the flower street, but how do they know whether you're a guest of a particular room vs. the first one opening the room. When you walk in a hostess asks you which room you're in and will assess whether it's been "opened" - i.e. are you the first one and do they need to assign you a dj. if you say you don't have a RVSP and don't have a room to go to then you'll be relegated to the lounge first...

however, if you act like you belong to a room and meeting some friends, they'll just let you pass... I mean most of the A rooms go first... a06, a13, a08, etc.... since those are flowerstreet rooms and very popular...

So if you wanted to get in, first i'd suggest not getting there at 6:30 when there are lots of rooms that haven't been "opened" yet.. getting there around 7 or 7:30, and you can likely walk in and say - I'm meeting some friends (in chinese of course) and they'll let you pass... or just walk straight in like you belong there, in and to the right and ignore the hostess and you should be okay as well.

Looking forward to my return in a few weeks... heard there are crazy rains out there... and it's hot...

    is that true??

Would like to give a big thank you to Joe and Dave for showing newbie like me around CP the first time. I think both of you have not lost the faith in sharing with newbies yet.

I have the honour of having the LEGENDARY JOE to show me around in CP BBS mongering. Who can beat me to that? ! ? ! I have fallen deeply in love with the BBS scene, and do a 'chicken run' every other day. Joe also shown me the infamous catacombs, and those elusive BBS. The mummys there are a friendly lot, and treated me like friends of 10 years once they see me again.

I have also found some 'good' BBS gals that I am still in touch with, and will no doubt find them again once I am back in CP. I understand that this is not ideal, as to let emotion get the better of mongering, but I am a sucker for 'sexual attachment'. I even had a BBS gal accompany me for 5 nights in a roll.

Joe, I hope you are having a good time at where you are right now. (Sarcasm intended): p

Dave, hope your PC are running faster than before.

It is a real privilege getting to know both of you. It is true that $$$ can't buy the information and advices that these seniors have to offer. I hope I will be back in CP real soon and catch up with you again.

Mayflower - Wan Yi KTV - Night 3

The first Saturday night at Mayflower. Wan Yi KTV and it was a zoo, the WGs have now exceeded 1, 000. I have finally figured out where all these ladies are coming from; basically, saw a lot of familiar faces from girls that are from other KTVs, BBS, and Freelancers in CP. So, at Mayflower you may not get the value of your buck if you are now paying for girls that normally would cost you 1/3 to 1/2 the cost if you have gotten them from a BBS and a lot of these BBS girls do not know how to perform their KTV duties (I. E. Sing songs, play games, or drink alcohol).

So, I got one of these KTV virgins tonight and it was basically forced onto me because I booked tonight's room through a mommy. This particular mommy has a large number of girls but she only has a couple 8s but the rest of them are 6 or below. The girl that I got did not get picked to sit (basically did not earn her minimum 200) the first two night at work and the mommy was really laying the guilt trip on me about how hard it was for her to pull strings so that I was able to get a room there on their first Saturday night. The mommy was afraid that this girl was going to give up being a WG so she literally begged me to take her. To be generous, this girl was a 4, figure ok and the skin was smooth but basically I was baby sitting her the whole entire night and it was a chore because I was busy making sure the bill did not get abusively inflated. The lesson learned tonight is that it is better to book from a manager than a mommy/WG/DJ.

Tonight I found out that the Mayflower. Wan Yi KTV does not allow you to bring in alcohol or food. Other KTVs allow you to bring but charges you a corkage fee (JY charges 800RMB or whiskey and 300 RMB for wine) or food service fee but both of these are not allowed at this KTV. Also, photos are not permitted inside the KTV room, Mayflower. Wan Yi KTV is very strick about this policy. One of the guys took a few pictures with his Iphone and within 2 minutes there were 6 security guards in the room demanding that the phone be examined and pictures to be deleted. They are not messing around with this policy as the DJs were the one reporting this to the security and apparently that if management found out that they did not report this incident that they would be immediately terminated.

Mayflower. Wan Yi KTV are still working out the kinks as tonight the power in our room went out for as short as a few seconds to up to 5 minutes 4 separate times. The management apologized and gave us some free food for the inconveniences. We were able to keep the bill under 300RMB per person and everyone had an awesome time.

Pointpanic - more guys should be like you!

When I first started going into CP as a newbie, Old Asia Hand, Bill Lee, Wadman,, Tiger 888, CPexpat and even Santo took me under their wings, showed me around and thoroughly briefed me on the ins and outs on mongering in CP.

Now, I've been mongering all over the world for over a decade and have been going into China since the mid 1980's, speak Chinese - Cantonese and a smattering of Putonghua - and could really not be considered a newbie then - but I still found that what the veteran ISG'ers taught me had been truly valuable - in that in saved me lots of time, hassles, AND money in that they were there to make sure that I did not get ripped off/scammed and/or in danger.

And let me tell you, one can really get into a pickle in southern China and Dongguan - particularly if one is not careful or have a wingman who can steer you out of problems. And I mean, pickle that is not only lots of $$, but also actual danger. For one, English and other foreign languages are basically NOT spoken, the rapid economic growth has spawn a Wild Wild West mentality (and attitude and behaviour!) and lots of sharp practices

Unfortunately, of late there has been too many newbies who have been abusing the welcome and helping hand of us guys who volunteer to assist; talking with a few of the guys, I've found out that we all are just a bit sick and tired AND are now quite wary of volunteering our helping hands. These guys really don't even know - never mind appreciate - how much problems and $$ they save when one of us go out of our way to help.

Apologize if I am bleating a bit - but it really bugs me how some of these guys had been so abusive. Just IMHO!

There were at least 200 plus more WGs tonight than opening night and in addition to the quantity, the quality has greatly improved as well, perhaps, it was because I got there at 6:30pm instead of 7:00 pm the previous night.

From now to mid-July, there are some perks for the grand-opening period (prices in RMB):

    1) Liquor - Buy 2 get 2 free - 780 each.
    2) Red Wine - Buy 2 get 2 free - 298 each.
    3) Beer - Buy 1 dozen get 2 dozen free - 43/45/48 each
    4) Rice Wine - Buy 2 get 2 free - 400 each

Only can choose one of the above per visit (i.e. once you buy the first dozen beers and have gotten two dozen free, you can't buy another dozen and get two dozen free, but you will still get one dozen for free).

Met a caucasian non-Putonghua speaking friend at HuiHua lobby today and brought him along and went through the 700 plus girls asking each mommie if they have girls that can speak English and found only 3 passable candidates and since this new friend was there for the last night after a 3 week trip, he took all three to sit with him. I have the contact information for these ladies if anyone needs it.

Back for Day 3 tomorrow and will report if I find anything new.

English speaking Hui Hua footie girl

I know a lot of non chinese speaking dudes would appreciate a pretty good English speaking footie girl who is pretty cute. Her English is passable, like she can hold her own in a conversation.

She works at the Hui Hua footie. Her tag number is 156.

Try her out, she is quite pretty. And you would be helping her out if you request her, because I heard they get a small bonus for being requested.

So being alone one Saturday night, I went to Jia Yi and tried this. No go. The hostess led me to the bar, but I asked for the Parade. She said no parade without sitting at the bar. I told her I don't get it, didn't they used to do this? and she said it was a new policy, just started at the beginning of May or something. Ah well. Asked her any other way, she said no. I guess it was a Saturday (and at prime time 6 pm) so I guess they want to have all the girls working the parade for guys to run up alcohol tabs.
Me and 4 other dudes went to JY (without rsvp a room) and headed straight to the flower street, picked up some girls, and went to the lounge, cause there were no rooms available. Not sure how we slipped through. Maybe we just entered and did not talk to the receptionist, just acted like we belonged there. hahaha.
