Loosely translated to "Year gone by" a fine tradition of new years in this country apparently from what I am told and have read there was an outbreak of the black plague here in Ecuador around the 1920's there where so many people dying that they had to develop a way to dispose of the bodies safely. So they burn them in order to contain the plague ounce that was done survivors took to creating effigies of toys, people and what not and they burn them on new years as a way to cleanse all that was bad about that year that passed and celebrate the coming year. This year I am investing in building these effigies they make good money.
