I will be traveling to San Jose tomorrow, September 2, and staying at the Prez. Will be there until September 6, and having breakfast in the New Cafe each morning.

Hope to meet any others from the board who are there during the same time-frame.

Well, I have just made reservations to stay at the Hotel Europa and I am looking forward to my first trip down to your paradise at the end of next month! I am a Dominican regular but am looking forward to my first trip to CR.

I want to thank this board for the immense amount of information being presented on a daily basis, it makes planning a trip a "snap".

I also want to give a shout-out to board member - Blind Lust.
He has compiled a wealth of information about the CR/San Jose scene and he has given me great advice through a series of pm's in the past two weeks.

Photo is of one of my little Dominican "hor'dourves". See you all 'round town!

    Cheers,

Joining a place or going to Bendricks is reallly a waste of money.
You can do much better on your own in CR. There are plenty of places to go and meet ticas. Just read the forums. I would suggest you go to the Del Rey and meet some of the ticas. They will ask for $100. but can be talked down. I have had girls stay with me that were very attractive all night for about $70.
If you are nice to them and treat them well you will do fine.

Again, read the forums here. Avoid Bendricks. Once you have been to CR you will realize that it is a great place to go for fun, relaxation and mongering.

    10safe0sory,

I've yet to read about ANY packaged adult vacation that wasn't a sucker's bet. Its hard for me to be too specific about Bendricks since it will cost you seventy bucks just to find out the details of what they offer, but their home page mentions a 4 day/3 night trip to CR for $1695. If you were planning a trip on your own to CR for a similar time period, air/hotel and companion whouldn't cost you much more than $1000 if that much. Unless you're one of those guys that insist on paying las vegas prices, 24hr female companionship in CR absolutely shouldn't cost you more than $200 and many guys would say $100 should be your max. That means going with Bendricks you are enriching the site owner at least $500-700 over what you should be paying. Don't be a shmoe.

Is there anyone out there who has used the Bendricks Vacation service to set up a vacation? I hate the idea of having to join a club (theirs) to book a week with some lovlies. I am in Nevada and due for a nice vacation, so I thought I would go to Costa Rica for lots better action than they have here in Las Vegas (and a lot less costly.) I'll be going down the first week in December. PM me if you ever plan on being in NV). Thanks for any help. I'll buy the first few if I ever see you down there.

    Thanx Ace,

I just went to the websites mentioned and they helped a lot, also tempted me a little more into going to CR.

    Hey gentlemen,

I have been thinking about going to TJ in Mexico or Costa Rica around November or December. I have seen some of the pics. I am trying to not go bankrupt on my trip. So if anyone could give me some advice from fellow tradesmen that have been to both places. I am also wondering about safety and laws in Costa Rica. I appreciate any help I can get.

    Hey Daily,

If you are looking for a good spot to hit for your layover - may I suggest the massage parlors. Yes Jamito suggested the Zona Blue - that is good. But there are many others. PM me for details or just search the board.

If you want a little higher quality. Tell the taxi driver "Vamos a'l Hotel Del Rey Por Favor"

Once in the Del Rey - grab a cerveza and enjoy the many ladies trying to pick you up. Once you have negoiated the deal with your chosen chica. Go to either Hotel Asia ( a low cost dumpy type of hotel) that is a few minutes walk away or to Hotel Eden ( a reasonably priced hotel that is more poshly decorated) I would recommend the Hotel Eden and any taxi driver will know where.

    Pura Vida and Good luck,

    Maverick

Depending on what you want to do (and when your layover is), you could do 747, the purple house next to it. Both about $10-$15. For nice places, check out Zona Blue (24,000 colones, lately), and Idem (18,000 I think).

    Comanche,

I will also be in SJ on 10/6 during a 7 hour layover on my way to Peru. I won't be getting a room, but should have most of the day to wander around and/or monger. Any suggestions? Do you think that is enough time to partake in SJ, or should I save my money for Lima, Cusco etc? Any tourist-type things that would be good for such a short stay?? Any and all advice appreciated.

    Ace,

Continental, like most airlines, only lowers its fares when competing with other airlines, especially on the competitor's home turf. They do this all the time with A/A, out of DFW. I live in Austin, and generally have to fly (or drive) to IAH or DFW to make a connection.

I can often fly to DFW, on A/A, catch a Continental flight to Houston & make the connection for a flight to Cozumel, for less than flying Continental straight from Houston or Austin.

Idiotic to me, but I use it as an opportunity to see the folks up in Dallas, before "officially" starting my trip.

    Luego

As a veteran of many trips SJ, am making a trip to SJ 10/6. Would gladly assist any "newbies" who are going to be there during the week. Have a lot of experience in MP's, beach, BM, Idem and others.

Just PM me, and I will give you instructions on where, and when to meet.

Just got word that Continental is having a sale out of ATLANTA for around $350 RT via Houston or Newark(!) to San Jose for the fall.
Book now if interested. It is higher out of Houston-- go figure??

They have good schedules if interested.

This will not last long. The only thing I can figure is that they are competing with Delta who is beginning two, YES TWO nonstops daily out of Atlanta starting in December. Holy Moly. This has got to be good for the CR economy and "fisherman" who crave the great pink snapper fishing in CR. Thanks Don Gordo.

Check from your city to be sure if you may have a deal in the wings. Try their web site.

    I am planning my 5th trip from Sept. 29 - Oct. 3

Airfare seems good at that time. I can't wait. If anybody will be in San Jose at that time, PM me so we can share some Imperials.

    Pura Vida
