Great post! Every once in while it's a good idea for someone to post a comprehensive overview of the termas situation. Yours is about the best that I've seen, and I can't disagree with anything you've said. Like you, I always go to L'uomo first. I have a soft spot in my heart for it because it was the first termas I visited, back in the medieval year 2000. Like your first fuck, your first termas is something you'll always remember.

I agree with you that termas girls are the best. Termas are not only the best way to go, they're pretty much the only way. Escort services and the 'classificados' in O Globo have worked for me as well, but remember that you're buying sight unseen. Help!, Meia Pataca, and Mabs are definitely at the bottom of the food chain--strictly for newbies. I am back in Rio. im writing this from the internet cafe on Rua Seguiros Campos. I wanted to do a revisit of the top termas. They stayed consistant with the last list I posted and I wanted to talk a bit about Terma 65:

1. And still #1 - Terma 65. The super suite has an off the hook jacuzzi with bubble bath. A must for the true international man of leisure. Accept no substitutes. I went at 3pm and it pretty much just opened. It was not crowded but I have been there when it was crowded and its always a good time either way. Its near 4x4 about a block up and over (I forgot the name of the street but 4x4 is on Rua Buenos Aires in Centro de Cidage). You have not lived until you experienced a foam party. It happened (again) today. The jacuzzi was pumping and lots of bubble bath foam everywhere. The girls started throwing foam at eachother. They were hysterical. I had to laugh from just watching. They were all foamy and started play fighting about who would get the next turn at my salami. They were taking turns at first but the play fighting got kind of serious and one headbutted the other (and pretty hard) one to get at my dick!!!! The Bubba Terma report: Updated Nov, 2004.

Termas: There are 3 major termas in Copa: loumo, Monte Carlo and Centaurus (yes I know its located in Ipanema but its on the border). Loumo and Monte will cost you approx R$50 to get in, R$170 for 40 minutes in a room with a girl. Drinks are very reasonable by western standards with most being less than R$10, a beer will set you back around R$4, a red bull R$10, the local cocktail- Caipirinha R$6. Girls drinks cost the same and there is no pressure to buy them drinks but you will want to anyway. There will be up to 40 girls at Monte and maybe a few more at Loumo at anytime. Centaurus costs more, at least 50% more for everything, they maybe have a few more girls to choose from but nothing else really to justify the extra$. About A R$15 cab ride south over to the beautiful Jardin Botanica area will see you at Solarium, which is virtually identical in price and atmosphere to the other termas. It is slightly smaller though, but worth the trip if just to see the Lagoa and Statue of Christ in the distance, Spectacular!

There is also a heap of termas in the centro (city about 8kms north) area. Quatro por Quatro (4 x 4), is the biggest terma in Rio and has up to 100 girls at anyone time. Centro termas are about 25% cheaper than Loumo and Monte carlo, with the exception of Terma 65, which is now 10% more expensive than Loumo etc.

A terma works like this: You get greeted by a receptionist at the entrance, they will speak English at the places mentioned above. She will give you a key to a locker. You go in to the locker room and put everything in there and change into a robe + slippers provided. You can have a shower and sauna etc at anytime. They also have various razors, toothbrushes etc that you can use to make you look and smell your best.

When you want to interact with the girls you make you way up to the Boite (Boi chi). They will be hanging around the bar looking to interact with you. They do not get paid to just hang around, they only earn $ when they take you to the room (cabine). There will be music playing and it is just like a normal bar although you are wearing a robe. If you wish to order a drink, and you will, the locker key is like you credit card, you will be asked to show it and your bar tab will be credited towards it. No money changes hands when you are inside the Terma ,you settle the bill at the end (unless you go to Centaurus). Do not loose your locker key! The portion of the bill that is for the girls has to be paid in cash!. In Centaurus, they will ask you to pay for the girls fees upfront, no other terma does this and this, with a number of other annoying tactics, is why Centaurus is generally considered to be the least friendly Terma in Rio. A lot of mongers refuse to go there because the attitude of management sux badly, the girls tend to be great looking though.!

Once you spot a cutey, just basically look in her direction and she will be on you, if this does not work use a hand signal, don’t worry once she knows you are interested she will be more than keen to sit next to you. You can play around with her for a while, there are generally 2 or 3 times as many girls as there are guys, although in peak times this may be reduced to 1:1, so generally you have time on your side. You will be treated like "a King". She will laugh at your jokes, stroke your ego and maybe you inner thigh, and probably grab your dick and put her tongue down your throat within the Boite. They are not shy inside the terma. After 30 minutes or so of fooling around you will probably be ready to "rumble". During this time you should have asked her if she is prepared to do whatever kinky deviate act you desire. I always ask if she is going to provide BBBJ, virtually every terma girl will, if she says she doesn't, you might want to ditch her and grab another because it is not a good sign that she wants to please you. Also a good time to ask if she does anal. Rio is probably one of the best areas in the world to find greek. Maybe 50% of terma girls will provide it at no extra cost, straight up, 75% will do it once you get to know them, and overcome them with your charm ;-). She will often agree to do anal as a deal clincher, to get you into the room. If you are smart you can leverage this. A lot of girls will also do CIM. Once you have decided she is one you want to get to know better, decide on how long you want to spend in the cabine (room) and give her your locker key and she will take it with her to get prepared. 40 Minutes is the standard and I won’t go longer unless it is a girl I know, not much point getting stuck with a dud for a longer time, although duds are not overcommon. She will come back in about 5 minutes wearing lingerie or some other bedroom attire and whisk you away to one of the rooms, where you will do your best impression of a porn star and she will generally fuck like only a Rio girl can, and believe me THEY CAN! In really busy times, you may have to wait for a cabine to become available, this will give you another few minutes to fool around with the girl in the Boite before sexo. I never mind the wait, after all I am on holiday and it is not as if I have to rush to a business meeting, waiting in the Boite is actually half the fun, some would say it is more than half.

After you interlude you can go back to the boite and grab another one or just hang out (thankyou lord for Vitamin V), it is not unusual to have the girl you have just fucked come back and chat to you, she wants the repeat business. It is not unusual to spend 3 or 4 hours at a terma just drinking and chatting with girls or fellow deviates. In any night the average girl will only see 2 or 3 clients over an 8 hour period, unless it is Carnaval time, hence there is a lot of down time built into the equation for fooling around. Most fellow mongers are quite friendly within a Terma, I have had many a good conversation over a few beers, just remember if you speak to a fellow monger try to keep who you nailed at other Termas quiet in front of the other girls, they are severe gossipers. If a girl asks you where your fellow monger has been over the last few days, the correct answer is I DO NOT KNOW.

You cannot officially take a girl out of a terma, but you can do deals with her to see you after the terma closes or before it opens. I have had many a girl hangout with me for gratis after or before work, but then I had seen these girls a few times in the Terma and intended to see them again within the Terma. They also like going out with Gringos because we can actually afford to take them to places the local guys cannot afford, and I don’t mean ultra expensive places, just normal restaurants and entertainment (a young local guy will only earn US$1000 per year if he even has a job, which is difficult to live on and leaves nothing for entertaining dates). The girl will only agree to see you after work if she feels comfortable with you, this will be based on your past behaviour within the Terma and the amigos you associate with. If you can get her to agree to take the day off from work she will be fined at least R$100 (up to R$300 at some Termas) from the terma so you will have to build this into the equation if you are negotiating a price, which could be up to R$300+ her fine. To work in a Terma, a girl has to agree to work 5 or 6 shifts in the week so you may get her to play with you on a night off, surprisingly I have found they are almost always available to full around on their day off. They will also see you before or after work. Generally speaking Terma girls are a lot more stable than girls you will meet at Help etc, this will mean they are much less likely to take shit out of your room or generally cause problems. Never drop your guard though. I always lock my passport etc in the safe, and lock what won’t fit in there in a suit case (she won’t be able to carry the whole case out of the joint without someone noticing). Yes it is true that she could cut the lock but generally most thefts I have heard of have been ones of opportunity, cameras and phones left on tables are most likely to disappear.

In general I love the Termas, they are my favourite part of Rio. The girls tend to be better sexual performers in a Terma than any other venue.


Zona Sul Termas.

Zona sul is “the south zone”, an area anywhere south of Central and is where you will stay. It includes Copacabana and Ipanema.

***L’oumos***: Rua Siqueira Campos, 143. Copacabana. http://www.luomo.com.br/ . Open 7days from 4pm until 1am-ish. (up to 60 girls). Gets busy from the get go. Entrance R$50 (reduced to R$35 if you take a girl), girl + room R$170.

I always make this my first stop on any trip to Rio. If my plane arrives after 4pm, I just throw my bags down in my Hotel Room and start the walk to Rua S Campos, with anticipation, I travel the escalator up to the second floor, round the corner, and I am usually warmly greeted by the doorman, who I think owns the place. I just can’t wait to greet old friends, and see who are going to be my new friends. Had my first girl here in Rio, who I still look forward to seeing in Loumo.

***Solarium***, Rua JJ Seabra, 21, Jardim Botanica. http://www.solarium.com.br/ . Open 7days, from 3pm M-F. Weekend times vary. (up to 40 girls). Entrance R$50, Girl+room R$170.

Solarium is smaller in size than most termas. The mongers tend to be mostly local Brazilians, who actually prefer a generous bunda (ass), as opposed to *this white boy* who likes them nice and slim, hence I tend to struggle to find someone who appeals to me here. I have had some great times here though.

***Monte Carlo***: Rua Hilario De Gouveia, 19. Copacabana. Open 7days from 3pm, including weekends. Doesn’t really get going until 4.30pm. (up to 50 girls). Entrance R$50, Girl+room R$170.

Another favourite of mine. The staff here tends to turnover fast, hence if you don’t like the selection one day, give it a few days and you might see some new faces in the line. Great location, nice and close to ground zero.

***Centaraus***: Rua Caning 44, Cnr Rua Raihha Elizabeth, Ipanema . On some maps Rua Caning does not appear as it is relatively small, no problem look for Rua Railhha Elizabeth and you can’t miss it. On the border of Copa and Ipanema. (upto 70 girls). Entrance + Girl+ room= R$290.

This place really knows how to [CodeWord140] off a lot of people. The staff will treat you like crap (if you are lucky!) and the girls are pressured so much by the staff that they are constantly on you all the time to take them to a cabine. The pressure starts upon entrance, where you have to pay R$290 upfront (50% more than your average terma). This includes entry & 40minutes in a cabine. If you leave without a taking a girl to a cabine don’t think you will get your money back. No other terma asks for money upfront nor will charge you more than entrance fee and drinks bill when you leave without sexo. Upon paying your entry fee, a girl will immediately latch onto you, I usually see how fast I can ditch her (my record is less than a minute, sounds easier than it is) and go to the boite and make my on choice. In most termas you can lounge around and have fun with the girls, drinking and carrying on, in Centaurus I never seem to be able to relax. Having said all these negative things, the girls are consistently slim and attractive, can be great performers. I would guess they have more English speaking girls here than other termas as well although, I speak enough basic Portuguese to get by now, it could be advantage for someone with zero Porto skills. I usually visit this place once or twice a trip as opposed to every day for the other termas (yes I know, I need Help!)

One more thing, the girls will constantly hound you for an upgrade from a 40 minute cabine to a 1hour suite. Centaraus kills you on the price with this and be ready for your response that may have to be said more than once. Man, I had to tell one girl like 5 times that I didn’t want an hour, persistent as a car dealer!

Not far from Centro but still in Zona Sul. I have been to this Terma only twice and did not find anything to my liking. It may have been quiet when I was there but there were only about 20 girls despite being a nice large terma. Other fellow mongers have given me mixed feedback, some love it others tend to agree with my experience.

Centro Termas:
Centro is a great place to go and see where the locals work. Best way to get there is by Metro (urugaiana station) during the day (about 15minutes) and then a 10minute walk. I just love the hot balmy walk through the narrow streets to the termas. A cab back to Zona Sul at night will be about R$17. All Centro termas are closed on the weekend. Most are open from 2pm from 12pm.

Quatro X Quatro, (4x4) Rua Buenos Aires 44, Centro. Open from 2pm to 12pm M-F. Dead before 3.30pm, gets really crowed after 5pm. (up to 100 girls). Entrance R$30 (reduced to nil if you take a girl before 5pm), Girl + room $130 (40 minutes). Girl +suite $160 (60 minutes)=great value. Most Centro Termas are named after the street number, IE 4x4 is on Rua BA, at number 44, Terma 65 is on 65 Rua Rosario.

This terma is great, it is by far the biggest terma in Rio and I just love it. It is setup primarily for the locals, hence the predominant shape is big asses, but all shapes and sizes are present, and many touristas do go there. I find the best time to get there is around 4pm where I can grab a girl by 5pm, before the R$30 fee, but primarily before the crowds get really thick.

An interesting point: The locals guys tend to go to termas, primarily to drink and maybe grab a cheap feel, the majority won’t take a girl to a cabine at all, they can’t really afford it despite them being young upwardly mobile professionals, the salaries in Brazil are really poor compared to western standards. I make this point because even when 4x4 is crowed as hell, there are still plenty of girls available, and generally the girls will know you, being a gringo, are there for sexo.


Termas 65 Rua do Rosario, 65, Centro http://www.termas65.com.br/index.asp
Upto 40 girls.

One block from 4x4, this place is slightly more expensive than most. Entrance + Girl + Cabine is about R$230 from memory. Quality at my last visit was quite good.

Termas Aeroporto 216-C Beira Mar Av. Centro. http://www.termasaeroporto.com.br/
Entrance R$50, Girl + Cabine $140.

I have never been inside this place, I tried to go there twice but it was closed for renovations. By all reports it is worth a visit.

Termas 502, Rua de Alfandega, 502, Centro.
This place is a bit different. You do not change into a robe. Upon entry the receptionist gives you a bit of paper where your drinks are recorded. Entrance is R$10 and this includes 2 local drinks. I did not session here as there were only 10 or so girls, but then it was early and I was on my way to 4x4. The place was large and gave the impression of a once glorious past. Girls were OK quality just not many of them. Price was cheap, from memory about R$100 for the hour.

Other:
Praia Club 400: Avenida do Pepe, 400. Barra Da Tijuca. This place girls are cheap but drinks expensive, a R$25 cab ride from Copa. Opens about 6pm, and closes late. Not open on the weekend. Entrance R$40 (waved if you get there by 8pm), girls + room R$150 (for cash do not pay by cc).

Barra Da Tijuca is a nice change for a break. It is a very middle class, crime free area about 30minutes ride south of Rio. The drive down the coast road is quite spectacular as is the view to Rocinha, Rios biggest favela on the way, lock the door when passing through! Up to 40 girls were there on the 2 occasions I visited, some were very nice as well. Predominantly locals visit this place but surprising the girls were nice and slim. To session with the girls was nice and cheap R150 for girl and cabine if paid in cash, but look at the price of the drinks carefully, a red bull and vodka R$30, some other drinks were reasonably priced like local capirinha’s $R8, all are clearly marked on the menu. One more thing, do not pay for any of your bill by credit card, they slug you hard, 30% on top of your bill! In summary pay everything in cash, drink local drinks and it works out slightly less than Zona Sul termas even with cab fair if you can find a fellow amigo to split with.

There are heaps more Termas in Rio. This is just a list of the more popular ones. I find the termas the safest, best quality sex and most fun of all the sex options in Rio. They don’t pad the bill and the staff are usually just great. They are an institution!

I compiled this list, because when I was in Rio my first time, I struggled to find the addresses easily to all the places I had heard about, cut into valuable terma time. I hope you get some benefit out of it! I am Back in Rio at the end of Nov and staying all through Dec, can’t wait.

Anywhere you stay will be great. I stayed in Copa at the Premier Copacabana Hotel on 205 Rua Tonelero and it was fine. Ipanema is more artsy and has the street carnival thing going for it, but either way you'll be fine. Do not stay downtown or anywhere other than Copa or Ipanema. I had a friend do that. He got a better rate, but he regretted it and ended up moving closer to Copa. Also, make your reservations early. The good hotels go quickly.

I was in Rio last week with a buddy of mine, we were in Help and found 2 sweet young things to go and have a party at my friends apartment in Ipanema. We all 4 got in a taxi and proceeded toward Ipanema.

About 3 minutes into the ride we were pulled over by the police, I was surprised, they came over to the car and asked the driver if we were foreingners, we said yes and they told us to get out of the taxi, we did all 4 of us. There must have been 4 or 6 of them heavily armed with flap jackets. The one cop I spoke to asked me if I have or have been doing any drugs, I said no but he inspected me closely, went in my pockets, I emptied my pockets, he inspected my wallet everything, I had all my money and credit cards laid out on the trunk of the taxi.

At this point I was worried about a plant or a robbery, He could have had my $150 but a plant would have cost more I can imagine. I have heard these stories before of cops planting something on a gringo and then trying to extort money out of them but these guys were straight with us, they took no money and ended up being pretty friendly with a handshake and everything.

But I mention it here only because the girls told me that this is normal and if it is then guys watch out don't get caught with your pants down if you know what I mean. After all this we ended up at my friends apartment and had a great party, one for the books, but that's another story.
