502 is not the bottom of the barrel.. there is a lot worse !!!! It has some diamonds in the rough . I never had any problems there with bill padding. It is not as nice as 65 or 4x4, but good for the price.

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know if the termas and escorts will be running on Dec. 25th and 26th? Or any decent restaurants that will be open those days?

Posts: 588In 502 no robes are required but remember that you can’t compare 502 with the other termas that are usually mentioned here: 502 is a stinky shithole where you can find mostly low quality girls, the bottom of the barrel of the Brazilian pro population. It is cheap, I agree, but that is a clear example of ‘you get what you pay for’.
It is also managed and staffed by cheap bastards, so keep your valuables with you at all times, don’t ever leave anything (valuable or not) at reception as they’ll keep it for themselves and will tell you that ‘it got lost’.
Also, don’t forget to check your bill carefully when you ask for drinks and when you finally pay, otherwise they’ll add extra drinks that you didn’t ask for and will also shortchange you if you give them a chance.
The 502 shithole is best avoided but if you still decide to go, take the proper precautions.

Posts: 678Over 100 visits......all robe style......never any money or property lost. Best tale is in Germany however, where I leave my wallet with about 300Euros in it, including credit cards and personal items. I get home and realize that I left the wallet on a chair in the locker room. I figure it is lost for sure. I return to the club, explain what has happened at the front desk and I am presented with my wallet....including the cash and all the property!! Probably a bit unusual, but what great luck!!

The majority of robe termas have pockets in the robes and you can obviously keep things in them. I wouldn't be worried about money in the lockers as that would be bad business if they were broken into.

Is 502 the only one where there is no robe required? Do the robes at most termas have any pockets at all? I'm just concerned about hitting a terma on my 1st day in town and having someone dip into my locker and going through my pockets while i'm having fun.

Does anyone know if these girls are real and if there based in Rio? I just checked the site and they look amazing so I have to question if it is real? Also does anyone know what their rates are? I didn't see anything about costs.

Robert Palli,
You asked whether the exchange rate at the airport was dropping? All places generally base "their" exhange rate on the official exchange rate. The dollar gets "stronger" or "weaker" every second. The official exhange rate fluctuates all day long. At the end of the day they post an exchange rate as a guide for you to decide what to do with your money. So if you notice the official exhange rate getting lower each day then be assured that the banks and exchange places in the airport are lowering their rates accordingly. Moreover, as Nemo said the places in the airport give you lower rates than the official exchange rate because they need to make a profit!
So I would suggest you study the official exhange rate online via or on Bloomberg Financial TV each morning and stick to ATMS in Brazil. ATMs give the official exchange rate at the moment. Most cable TVs in Brazil carry Bloomberg TV all day. What I do is check the current rate and decide whether to take out more money or not.
Stay away from banks and cambios (is this Portugueuse or Spanish?). They need to make a profit and will by taking extra from YOU! Plus you get even poorer rates in most airports anyway, even in the US. I remember when the exchange rate was 3.5, but in Houston's Bush Airport they were giving us something like 2.8. I swear I saw this!

Your US ATM card should work with ATMs.

I can second the recomendation of Scotch. You cannot go wrong with his pick. I know who he is talking about and she would be a great choice for you, based on your requirements.
