Lately there have been a lot of scammers out there targeting innocent punters through wechat, michat, etc.

The Modus Operandi: Called you to a certain location, then inform you that you need to 'pay for the room' first before proceeding upstairs. Once you paid, they will then disappear from sight and block you. A friend of mine experienced this a few months ago thourgh wechat and warned me earlier. He lost RM 200 to this scammer lady.

I myself experienced this yesterday. The lady will inform you to meet at certain hotel. Once you reach there she will inform you to 'pay to the jaga' first. I met the jaga and he informed me that I need to pay the agreed 150 to him before proceeding to the room upstairs. He convincingly called the girl and let me speak to her. Sensing something was not right, I quickly ask which room is she in. She replied room 708 at Grand Supreme hotel and to pay the jaga first before proceeding upstairs. After giving back the phone to the jaga, I googled and start calling the grand supreme hotel right away even though I was just outside. At this juncture the jaga ask me ho I was calling and I informed him that I am calling the hotel to verify whether she is in the room. He quickly grabbed his helmet and ran off! True enough, the operator that answered my call informed me that there is no one in room 708.

Posting this as a warning to our Kuching friends.
