Those pedestrian bridges must get built by the college interns to save money. They had one in ft Lauderdale, maybe 5 years ago collapsed 1st day I think, killing a few people if I remember right. First of all there is no mariscos restaurant across from Hong Kong. The Sushi One guy closed down a year before CoVid.

This guy does not know Tijuana police procedures. This matter is civil, no the criminal. He said he offered to pay the extra $5 and did not give reasons and details why policas still arrested him. It made no sense. If the food guy did not take the money, policia had to let him go. If the matter was still not resolved, both parties would go to polica station to see a judge to adjudicate on the spot.

He never explained who, how, why put him in jail. It takes a judge's order for polica to jail someone. His account is just bullshit.

I got stop driving home alone after midnight on Madero with a bullshit to charge. Polica threatened to jail me, wanted DC me to get in his car. I denied the charges and refused to get in his car, told him to call his sergeant or his lieutenant in. I was also calling 066 for emergency. He could not bluff me so just laughed and let me go.

Just one example but don't let anyone trample over you.

Always verify the price upfront when you to a restaurant. Several years I went to this on place in Puerto Nuevo. They waiter said it was $23 for the lobster thermidor. But when I got the bill it said $35. They then claimed that the price was higher because it was the bigger lobster. I was by myself so not much I could do.

The way I see it is that this dude neglected to look at the price before he ate so he got pissed that it went up. He ate, he refused to pay. Then he ran off. It's equivalent to theft and run. The police took him back to the restaurant to clear things up. It did not so they tossed him in jail. And he got out early instead of getting pulled in front of a judge for a hearing because he paid with his phone. While he looked Mexican, all doubt was removed when they looked at his ID and saw him as a brown Gringo with deep pockets.

Lesson learned. Don't fucking eat the food unless you agree with the pricing. Prices are either in the menu or on the wall. If you are caught stealing, you are going to have to pay someone off especially when you are rich enough to sport a $900 phone.

This is a 100% true. Especially non Latina looking guys. The restaurants and bars have close association with speed dial to Mexican police. Basically, the bars or restaurant give the green light to the cop to rob you. The cops will show up in under 1 minute. . In this case sounds like the cops got his $900 phone. The cops probably wanted money before jail that he didn't pay to avoid jail. 2 years ago, on calle revolucion Tijuana, a friend was getting arrested for being white, out eating alone, and needing to either use his credit card or the ATM next door. This bar could have let him use the ATM, but nooo. Having him arrested was the choice. The restaurants may feel obligated to meet a quota for gringos to be sacrificed to the policia. In USA that would lead to lawsuits, bad press, etc, customer not returning, racism accusations. In this particular case, the gringos friend saw the police at the restaurant about to arrest him, as this was all on live stream. And the friend ran to the restaurant to pay the cop cash. The cop had to unfortunately go home empty handed.
