What I'm saying is you're not really safe anywhere, so go out live your dreams / desires. As I pointed out, I feel safer going alone than with a group, but I still go with the buddies because it's more fun. Going solo is safer because you run your own ship, you go where you want to go without considering the others in a group. When out with the boys, typically, you must go with the flow, sometimes into the unknown. Once I went out with a close friend, he got drunk, then got into a heated argument with some guys meaner than us, we ended up fleeing for our lives, but not before they hit him in the head with a bottle.

Safety at home is also somewhat delusional: a few months ago I slipped and fell in my own home, hit my head on a hard table.

Your point about going solo is well taken, and I agree.

I will point out that the example given is extremely shoddy reporting on the part of the new station. That girl was found in that dump of a motel just to the west of La Perla on Coahuila. It's obviously a drug overdose, which does seem to happen with regularity in the Zona Norte. I'm sure she was with other people, so who knows what riff-raff she was hanging with. My point is that run of the mill tourists aren't getting beat up and killed. There is no need to hide in one's hotel room. But if you go to Tijuana to do drugs or participate in that scene, then all bets are off and things can go sideways quickly.

I like my chances on Tijuana streets much better than indoors or on the bus. I was choked out by 6 people where that new parking garage was built near Gloria bar as you walk towards the arch. But I've had other issues where I kept my feet moving, jumped into other bars to get away from people bothering me. At 8 am on the bus back to the border I got harassed by 3 LA deported types because I wpuldnt buy their chocolates. Real Mexican woman wouldn't behave like that. They behaved like men like American ghettongirls and had all the tattoos. Basically they sat their insulting me laughing for 20 minutes trying to get a reaction but I could not do anything but shake my head in disgust. Otherwise issues have been in revolution bars usually ones with bands music that I thought wpuld be safe but the customers or staff simply doesn't like white men. One singer of a rock cover band chewed me out in Spanish maybe partly because he knew the girl inwas with, he did this in front of everyone trying to get a reaction. My Spanish was bad at the time and I only found out when she grabbed me and told me to run as she was scared for both of our lives. Then a 25 year old at rock bar next to the arch thought he caught me slipping. He saw me upstairs alone. Got kinda in my face wanting to know what I'm doing there ready to pounce me. Then my female mexican friend comes out of bathroom and he walks away. Then you got the hassle factor of the police which are always the least of my concerns. I guess my point is, anytime your around drunk people, in any country, if they see someone alone or with only a girl, you can be targeted. Where is in a group they wouldn't pick on you. I left Tijuana again but really anywhere I go near nyc feels like Guatemala, restaurants, going to do laundry, when I'm at the beach 95% of the people speak Spanish. I feel like I'm never away from Tijuana.

I've been going to Tijuana for 20 years and haven't had any of the problems you speak of. One time a guy got mad because I wouldn't buy his fake Rolex. He said it was real for 20.00. What a steal. Never robbed. Never confronted. One time I was with an escort who called her friend after our session. I hung out on revolution with two girls partying. Never had an issue with the locals. Matter of fact, they let us cut the line and avoid security checks. Do you have one of those punchable faces like Daniel Tosh or something.

Speaking of delusions, do you have any remotely recent links to news articles discussing a tourist getting dragged out of his hotel room? If it's a regular occurrence there should be plenty.

If guys are so scared of Tijuana that their idea of staying safe is to check into a hotel room and not leave for three days, they may as well stay home.

With one of the highest murder rate and groups of heavily armed Guardia Nacional patrolling La Zona, Couple months back one of the cartels burned buses, built road blocks, ordered all businesses close and declare a curfew. Everything in Tijuana shut down for a couple days, including all putas bars. Tijuana actually feels like a war zone.

We can still have sexy fun in Tijuana but have to monitor intels and stay alert to avoid potential cartels violence. Booths near HK's front door have better ventilation but are likely to be target for cartels' drive by shooting. They are not likely drive by the back door as the alley are narrow and congested most of the time, so it's probably safer. Sit by the lesbian show, park your face in foamy crotches, suck on the clits, lick the labia while keeping your ears open for any sign of shooting. Wait for the bullets to stop flying then exit the building quickly in case it's torched.

Don't forget about the guys not using condoms and catching lethal diseases. Want to take about "War zone". How about in the body? I put up a post about that a few days ago and the admin disapproved. Your plan of going to a hotel, bunkering in for fun, then heading back home is a safe bet. Yet, people regularly get dragged out of hotels in TJ, or take mysterious falls from upper levels.

I feel safe in Tijuana & the Zona these days. The Zona has actually gotten much safer in the past 5-10 years. Before there was bandito's that would hang out the Zona that would mug people. These guys would rob people in broad daylight. I still keep my guard up and always took to see who is behind me in Tijuana however. The shooting's in the Zona is a very random occurrence.

They end up driving around Matamorros for sightseeing instead of going straight to the doctor's office and back, next thing you know they are front page news. And how about those 43 students from Ayotzinapa who decided to hijack some buses for a trip to Mexico City but were never heard from again--I'm sure they felt safety in numbers..

Bottom line is you never know when you will go. Other examples: this kid I knew in the 80's lost both parents in a plane crash. Had a young healthy co worker drop dead in her sleep from a brain aneurysm. Keith richards tho is still alive. Enjoy life, blow most of your money because you can't take it with you. Quit arguing so much if you should tip 2 dollars at a terma in Brazil. It means nothing. Don't send money to women across the world ever. Last but not least, never go to Tijuana for plastic surgery. Risks are everywhere. Your plane may crash; you may get runover on the streets of US. We just have to weigh the balance between risks and rewards.

A few of my wingmen are way too horny and have to pop girls BB every weekend. A few young, single guys are lonely, go to HK couple times every week, just hang out, drink red bulls, ogle hot girls, not having to have sex. HK fills the sexual, emotional, social needs for guys, some even says spiritual too hehe. You can still have a fun time hanging out with your friends all night pretty cheap if you don't throw money around like narcos jefes.

Besides high operating costs with lots of employees, workers, security, management ect HK is also under pressure to pay lots of morditas to a lot of people, cartels and government officials, to stay in business. They deliver a nice, clean, fun, entertaining, sexy venue with the hottest young women in Mexico for fairly low costs. You cannot find such a large selection of hot girls for the same prices anywhere in Mexico, or even the rest of the world. For the bros living in South West US, there are no other towns to have such sexy fun without breaking the bank.

But all the violence in Tijuana by the cartels and corruption at all levels of government are a big turn off. Narco bosses frequently show off their power and money, raining # bills and even coins on the crowd for fun. It's hard to predict when cartels guys will clash inside the club or will shoot up to demand their extortion.

The bros should reduce their frequencies of attendance, blend in with the crowd, spend their money judiciously and monitor intels to secure personal safety while having a little fun.

I went to Southeast Asia last year and going again in a month. That holds me over when it comes to getting some action.

If I can't make a Asia trip next year, I'll likely go to Tijuana but with a specific game plan:

Cross border, go straight to my hotel in Zona Rio for two-three nights, never leave Zona Rio and just use the agencies for having chicas delivered to my room.

Safest option and also cheaper really than HK and clubs. HK prices are out of control IMO.

Between the potential safety risks and increase in prices for everything from hotels to mongering, I'm surprised guys still go to Tijuana. You're better off finding some pros in your home city you can make an ongoing arrangement with that makes financial sense for both parties.

I haven't been back to Tijuana in a year and doubt I'll return anytime soon, unless I get extremely blueballed.

You are right. Multiple cartels have been contesting for controls of each neighborhood. La Zona has to be their juiciest real estate and Hong Kong rolls in lots of money every night. HK has been paying Los Chapitos. Now El Mayo Zambada's CDS and CJNG are trying to move in. There is infighting within CDS. Zambada group recently sent out a video threatened to kill Los Chapitos guys.
