Have not verified with Amlo himself, but 5,000 troops is a major military development for Tijuana, not sure if Mexico is aiming to block migrants, fight drug cartels or prevent invasion from the US? It may be tempting to take over Baja California and turn all beach front properties into time-share condos, but it may not be worth the huge expenses, headache and high risks of governing a territory with poor resources (besides beach front condos), poverty, horrific crimes, unmotivated population ect Rest assure the world wants to rent BC and her hot young girls, not own them.

I may be wrong but there have been no shooting with automatic weapons in Tijuana last couple years, no overt battles against local policias, so I don't understand the needs to deploy 5,000 troops here, but for sure the government would not be so stupid to deploy 5,000 troops somewhere without intelligence on enemy forces, not anticipating or planning for major fire fights, no detailed battle plans ect. Any city in Mexico that had military deployments soon had fierce battles on the streets and escalated violence.

Remember how Mexican Marines tracked down and arrested Ovidio de Guzman in Cualican? Immediately Sinaloa cartel mobilized superior force, massive troops with heavy machine guns, blocked all streets, burned cars and buses, shooting up every one, eventually Amlo himself had to order the Mexican Marines to release their capture.

Why Mexico does not send troops to raid, bust and shut down the many Meth and Fentanyl factories further away from dense population areas and eradicate the roots of the drug cartels?

Why are they not doing more undercover investigations, stings and financial busts to destroy the profit incentives of drugs mfg and trafficking?

Don't know their targets in Tijuana, may just be theatricals to milk more money out of our humane government. Hope the battles will be far from the bar block so people can have a little fun. Get ready to hug the ground and burry your faces in bar girls' crotches for safety when the shooting start. Monitor the situation and advise us of any major risks.

5,000 Mex National Guardsman being brought to Tijuana to help in the upcoming weeks. Hopefully this brigade will come from a location where its cartel is not fighting for Tijuana. Expect an increase in military presence in the Zona Norte in the near future.

When I visited 3-4 years ago I took a break and went to Zona Rio for lunch. I decided to walk back part of the way through the nice park and metro area and then all of a sudden all these cop cars started heading north. They ended up in la zona just a 1/2 block west of HK where somebody was killed inside one of the little bars I had probably visited in previous years.

Last Sept. when I visited I was at breakfast in Azul's around 9 AM and talking to another monger and discussing the alley drug dealer we could see and hear over and over advertising his biz. Next thing I know the dealer is up inside Azul's back patio staring at me. Don't think he could of heard me but he looked all strung out and stuff and how did they let him in? Anyways did not see him in the alley in November.

Life is cheap very cheap in Mexico. We are very lucky to see mostly the polite side. I stopped trying to pick up women even for regular dates back in 2006 in Costa Rica when the mujera was trying to set me up for a mugging. Staying with mongering in well controlled environs is the best all the way around.

Within 3 minutes 5 squad cars arrived and blocked off the street with uniformed cops on the street. They dispersed the crowd. After about 1 hour, they carried the body out to the sidewalk. It was already in rigor mortis, curling face up. There was fresh red blood on his shoulder of his white shirt. A very big price to pay just to make a few pesos selling. The guy was pretty young, about mid 20's. He was usually out on the street touting his cheap bucket of beers, but also looking around furtively like he was into something else. A bro told me he was also selling drugs. Whoever controls that territory likely decided to get rid of the competition.

The couple dealers in the alley have not been seen in the last couple months. Don't know what happened to them. No dealers are seen in the alley. A bro told me his friend living Rosarito heard a couple gun shots one recent night. He looked out the street and found a couple guys throwing 2 dead bodies on a pickup truck. Those 2 guys were local retailers, hanging out and street corner day and night. Words are that Sinaloa cartel is trying to take over Tijuana, Tecate, Mexicali from JNCG..

That bar is full of fucking trouble. I remember just walking by once and fight broke out on the inside, then flowed to the outside with me right in the middle of three guys trying to punch each other out. When's there is no MMA a la Tijuana, drug dealers often yell out at the top of their lungs that drugs are available, just like the guys across the alley from HK's back entrance. New guys or occasional mongers should definitely avoid that area around that bar. It is one of the two drug dealing areas, the other being of course across the street from the back entrance to HK. I wrote about a month ago that I felt there was an odd spike in turf wars in other areas of Mexico and apprehensive that it would reach Tijuana soon. I guess it was never posted because it could scare people. Well, it's kinda here now. Guys that normally party in Vegas and recently think that Tijuana is discovered paradise. They're going to shit in their pants if they really know how dangerous the zona norte really is.

There are lots of controls and coercion on people and neighborhoods everywhere in Mexico. We only see superficial aspects of life in Mexico. Like all street vendors in La Zona Norte have to pay protection. A kid rode by on his bike, the mariscos old man handed him a 200-peso note and he quickly scooted off. He said everyone had to pay, or they would break in the carts and cause damages.

A few ritzy neighborhoods are under protection by some rackets. No cars ever broken into on the streets, no theft, no petty crimes. Criminals just know where they should not be messing with. Also around the bar block police extortions, petty crimes and theft very rarely ever happened. Bar girls and street girls have been known to never steal from mongers. I am pretty sure the protection racket for bars put out words that they don't want petty crimes to damage bars' business. The bros should ask the girls about the rules set down for them and by whom.

What is interesting is that the murder scene is about 15 feet from that little police / security station almost next door. Probably the same as the alley HK to Cascadas. It also took more than 2 hours on a Sunday for the coroner to get there. And the police did not bother to canvas the area for witnesses knowing that the most common thing that working girls do in that area is look out for men or take selfies of themselves. It is as though there was no interest in catching the killer.

Catching the killer in Tijuana hahaha. Whoever ends up in jail for that kind of crime in Tijuana got a legitimate right to feel victimized because almost nobody ever does jail time in Tijuana for that. I think the number is like 2% of bodies result in someone going to jail. I used to look at those statistics and be amazed. Then I watched NYV and Chicago turn to Baltimore in last 2 years and see how polticics really allows this stuff.

4:30 pm. Sunday afternoon. Daylight hit across the street from the Playboy Bar and alley entrance, about 3 doors South. The bar has a Red door. Victim shot in the chest at least twice and presumed deceased because the police taped up the area and is not rendering aid. 5 shots heard.

It seems I never get the "whole" story from her, but she said her friend smoked out the car with MJ that night and they were drinking so most likely the policia thought 2 made up girls driving around at 4 am probably have money to burn. They asked her what she did for work and she told them she went to school and her amiga told the policia her boyfriend supports her. So I am sure they can put 2 and 2 together. The gummies were ones I gave her the week before and I told her before packing it in her luggage it could be a problem, but she said she packed the previous pack I gave her a few months back when she flew home with no issues. I think holidays made for tighter security since they probably need the extra money for the kids.

I also warned her not to pack anything illegal for the upcoming trip as international destinations don't play around, especially Bali where they put you in front of a firing squad. They were going to try and search the checked in luggage as well, but she was able to get off with the monetary donation. I told her she is lucky they allow it in Mexico since other places would detain you. She hasnt asked me for any money other than she was upset and didnt want to live in Mexico anymore. I wasnt taking the bait on that comment. She seems to be in better spirits with her family.

Aha. Didn't her mom ever tell her that nothing good happens at 4 am? Let's see. Two chicas, drunk (or at least had been drinking), the car smells like Cheech's '64 Chebby, it's 4 am, and they make an illegal turn. Why didn't she just put a big neon sign on top of her car, saying "Arrest Me!" Now the 1500 mxn makes more sense, as she was probably looking at spending the night in jail with a DUI, plus the car would get impounded. $75 seems about right to avoid that. There's something fishy here. Were you there when the cops pulled her over? A $500 USD mordita, per officer, is so far outside the realm of feasible it's actually lunatic. Only a handful of Mexicans could afford that kind of bribe, and those that can aren't the ones some dufus cop wants to be screwing around with, if you know what I mean. And even 1,500 MXN is quite a steep bribe for something as minor as an illegal you turn. Are you sure you're getting the straight story?

Another red flag is someone who would "smuggle" drugs on a flight. I expect that from entitled gringas (and have seen it) but I'd have thought a local would have more sense. Obviously not. The thing with the iPhone and iPad makes sense. Some dope with little money trying to skate with some drugs, who has two expensive items on their person, with no proof of how they got it, is low hanging fruit. She was practically begging them to screw with her.

Tread lightly with this one. You really don't want to get dragged into some problems with being an accessory, or some shit, the next time she pulls a bonehead stunt like this. Drugs, airplanes and gringos in a foreign country is a toxic brew. If she pulls that shit when flying to France I doubt you'll be able to buy your way out of it so easily.
