We stopped at the red light. Light turned green, we proceeded across the intersection.

I was looking left and right to make sure no cars were coming. Dozen cars to my left all stopped. 1 car to the right also stopped. I thought Benito Juarez was 2-way so that guy on right were legal and stopped for us. Suddenly he quickly zoomed right past the front of my car and another next to me. He could have hit both cars. If I had thought he was going against one-way traffic I would have stopped and avoided him.

I was driving slow and as careful as I could. We just cannot anticipate when someone goes rogue. The noobs were excited but not sure if they were scared. They may have been in worse situations. Until they know Tijuana better, feel comfortable and know how to deal with robbing policias, I would not let them drive in Tijuana.

I was driving to La Zona with 2 noobs in the car, turned North on Negrete, stopped at the red light at the intersection with the one-way Eastbound Benito Juarez, then proceeded on green light.

Was looking very careful at the oncoming one-way lanes on be Juarez. We already crossed 3 and a half lane when a black sedan flew past in a flash against one way traffic from the opposite direction, on the remaining half lane. Apparently he turned around from the lanes heading to the US against traffic. At the corner with Negrete, he could have turned North and became legal but he kept running against traffic towards Ave. Revo. He was not being chased by anyone, just being an asshole. I stepped hard on the brake; the ABS was knocking hard on all 4 calipers to stop the tires from skidding and stopped, the front bumper was just short of that errant car. We could have broadsided him or he could have Tboned us really hard, depending on how quick we were able to stop, and we could die or taken serious injuries.

In the decades driving all over the world, I have never had to face such reckless driving. It seems there are more people with little to lose in Tijuana compared to the rest of the world, drivers and pedestrians who would just go heads on against traffic. Their lives are worthless so they don't care about others. I wish that asshole gets mangled up and die hard in a bad accident.

Be extra careful when driving in Tijuana.

Immediately after, you should have asked the noobs to take over the driving. LOL. I think they are now scared for life and will never drive into Tijuana.

By targeting this hot-headed and cocky guy to rough up and steal from near the gate with CBP guys looking on, these policia goons may have pulled a political act in retaliation for Mexico's ex Defense Minister Cienefuego's arrest in Miami. CBP guys could watch but could do nothing to protect this US citizen while he was 10 feet away from the US border.

Or he just looked like some well-off guy carrying a couple grams of cocaine to enjoy with his little girl friends. That would cost him a lot of money to get out of.

I have been driving back late at night last couple weeks. There were Army's trucks patrolling La Zona but very few if any policia car. Drove back smoothly and quickly, no problems. It's safer and cheaper to deal with these guys than a bunch of drug-crazed cholos with sharp knives. Last Saturday 11 PM regular car lanes were very long, stretching way back to near downtown, 4 to 5 hours wait, but we crossed over in Sentri lanes in 7 minutes. Pedestrian lines were unusually very long, stretching back beyond the foot bridge. The wingman with no Sentri took 45 minutes to walk across.

The guys is hot headed. I think he was overconfident he could handle Mexican cops, so he did not take extra measure to hide or hold his money. He was shocked and angry that they roughed him up right next to PedEast gate with CBP guys looking on, then they had the balls to steal his money.

I have been stopped and searched by policias around La Zona many times but they never stole anything. One time a pair of policias took a roll of money in my hand, check and laid them out on the trunk's lid with me looking on, but he did not steal.

Walking around the border late at night with hundreds of migrants, drugs addicts, gangs, deportees living in the area, you are just inviting crimes. Any guy could put a knife to your chest and demand money. They may even stab you after robbing you.

Stay in your car, lock the doors and drive carefully back. You will be much safer.

This phrase was an immediate red flag for me, LOL. A (presumably) older, retired federal LE familiar who's probably a lot more familiar with Tijuana than I am should know better smh. Like an idiot, I've actually done the walk a couple of times from PedEast to Zona Norte past midnight (maybe 1-2 am) without incident but have wised up since then. His reticence to fully disclose what happened makes me think there's possibly more to the story but that's pure speculation. I obviously don't know the guy. Also, I've never been stopped / searched by Tijuana policia before, but it's my understanding the best practice is to take your $$$ out of your wallet and hold it in your hands while they search you. That instinctively would've been the first thing I would've done. Especially being within plain sight of the CBP.

Yes, if searched you IMMEDIATELY put your money in your hand. I've been told that by numerous girls over the years. Allowing the cops access to your wallet is a complete noob move. I was searched during a stop just before Christmas. The copy says put your hands on the (police) car. I put my hand in my pocket and removed my money. He was angry and said PUT YOUR HANDS ON THE CAR! I said I'm holding my money. He did go though it, but it was in front of my eyes at all times. You NEVER let them have unfettered access to your money. They do not have that right.

Better yet, just carry a knife and a vape pen. See, the cops are like monkeys. They just gravitate to shiny objects. If you have illegal contraband they'll just confiscate it and move on, ignoring your money.

So, for research, try it both ways. The first time, don't carry a lot of cash, only carry pesos, and don't have any contraband. The next time, carry lots of hundies and Jacksons, carry a couple of locking blades and a vape pen. Then compare and contrast the results.

A bro retired from a federal LE job a few years back and travelled frequently to South and Central America for whatever. He's been working for a private company near the San Ysidro border, going to Tijuana to visit a GF frequently and go out with her. He's very familiar with Tijuana and the border areas, had separated from his ex-wife, pending a divorce.

A midweek night last week he was walking back to Ped East at midnight. There were only a few other pedestrians on that path. Near the US turnstile gate 4 policia goons stopped him for a search within view of the CPB guys. They were acting stern, searched him thoroughly, even made him take off his shoes, everything short of a body cavity search; he could not hide anything from them. He felt he was targeted for unknown reason. When he got his wallet back, he found they had taken all his money, about $120 cash. Being ex federal LE, naturally he was extremely pissed off that he was roughed up and robbed in plain view by a couple shitheads.

I asked him why he did not drive over to avoid the robbing policia foot patrols, he had no answer, but the implication was that he was afraid of accidents and being hassled by policia in patrol cars. I thought that was irrational and I told him so. He was far less safe walking at night in Tijuana, risking being robbed, attacked, roughed up, injured, even murdered by rateros and rogue policia than driving his car over and dealing with policia car patrol if stopped. May be this incident will change his mind.

I had run across the 4-goon foot patrol in that area a few times at night and warned the bros about them in the past. They had stopped and searched me twice, but never got anything from me. Looks like El Capitan is a lot tougher than ex federal LE hehe. Those 4 goons were supposed to protect pedestrians returning to the border at night, but they would just hang out near the foot bridge, bullshit among themselves and look for targets. If they have opportunities to rob or to steal from someone, they would do it. My ex LE friend let them rough him up and steal from him. He sounded very angry on the phone.

He follows ISG but I don't know why he would not post such a critical warning for the bros. I have to do it for him.?

She taunted the Feds enough, going in and out of US court houses in designer clothes and hand bags like she's really innocent and knew nothing about El Chapo's massive drugs smuggling empire and his brutal tortures and murders of hundreds.

NSA and DEA probably have recordings of all her stupid phone convos and records of all her spending with El Chapo's bloody money. If they charge her with conspiracy to distribute drugs and money laundering, may be a few murders, she would be locked up for the rest of her low life.

DEA should arrest and charge this guy Cienefuego along with the rest of Mexican government officials who conspire with drugs cartels to poison the people and undermine the security of the US.

Washington (Reuters) - The wife of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the imprisoned former leader of Mexico's Sinaloa drug cartel, was arrested on Monday over her alleged involvement in international drug trafficking, the USA Department of Justice said.

Emma Coronel Aispuro, 31, a regular attendee at her husband's trial two years ago, was arrested at Dulles International Airport in northern Virginia, and is expected to appear in a federal court in Washington on Tuesday.

A lawyer for Coronel could not immediately be identified. It was unclear why Coronel, a dual USA -Mexico citizen, was in the Washington area.

Coronel's arrest came two years after a celebrated trial in Brooklyn where Guzman, now 63, was convicted of trafficking tons of drugs into the United States as Sinaloa's leader, where prosecutors said he amassed power through murders and wars with rival cartels.

He was sentenced in July 2019 to life in prison plus 30 years, which the sentencing judge said reflected Guzman's "overwhelmingly evil" actions. Guzman was sent to ADX Florence in Colorado, the nation's most secure "Supermax" prison.

Coronel was charged in a one-count complaint with conspiring to distribute heroin, cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamines for unlawful importation into the United States.

Prosecutors said Coronel also conspired to aid her husband in his July 2015 escape from the Altiplano prison in Mexico, when he dug a mile-long tunnel from his cell, and began plotting a second escape following his capture by Mexican authorities in January 2016.

USA And Mexican efforts to fight drug trafficking had become strained when the Justice Department brought drug charges in October against former Mexican Defense Minister Salvador Cienfuegos.

The Justice Department unexpectedly dropped that case the following month and let Cienfuegos return to Mexico, in a bid to restore trust in the countries' security ties.

Cienfuegos was exonerated two months later when Mexico dropped its own case.

Tomas Guevara, an investigator in security issues at the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, said Coronel's arrest might be part of a "pressure strategy" to prompt cooperation from Guzman.

A Mexican official familiar with Coronel's case, who asked not to be identified, said her arrest appeared to be solely a USA Initiative, and that Coronel was not wanted in Mexico.

I buy full-time insurance from GNP Seguros. I get the full comprehensive (theft, collision) for under $600 a year.

That sounds like a lot, but I drive in about once a week, so it's less than half of what I would pay if I bought it daily.

And, of course, you can save a lot of money if you skip the comprehensive and but the cheapest policy.

Yes. I bought it from Baja Bound for I think it was $148 for the year. Unfortunately I haven't set foot in Mexico for months so it's sadly going to waste.
