70 miles per hour on the I-5 is normal is it safe?

Day time or night time. I-5 north from the border to OC or OC I-5 south to the border is a zoo. Late night road crews, large trucks to small trucks, trucks pulling stuff, Tour Buses, New car owners, distractions from military activity. I am surprised there are not more crash activity.

I used to take the 5 freeway but there are way to many aggressive drivers, assholes, and excessive traffic from San Diego to to Santa Ana. For me, by taking the 5 freeway it would always take me about 5-7 hours to get home. But now its always almost 4 hours going t 15 route. Its much safer and less traffic.

Policia Activity is up in the Zona

I am a weekly visitor. I have no stats to support my claim. I just have noticed more visual activity. I have been stopped 3 times since January. Now when I leave HK, it is always at the back entrance to parking lot versus front entrance to parking lot. While sitting in car, I put several strips of bubble gum in my mouth to freshen my breath. I remove all cash except a $20.00 bill. I love mexico, it is the wild wild west!

    The [CodeWord134] point on I5

Left HK Friday midnight. The Ready lane car lines were very long but there were only 5 or 6 cars in front of me at the 3 SENTRI lanes. Took total 15 minutes from HK to cross CBP.

I had a few beers in HK and had taken a leak before I hit the road. On the way back on I5 just after clearing Customs, I bladder started nagging me. I wished I had taken another [CodeWord134] in HK before getting into the car. It was very annoying, but I held off planning to stop at the rest area before Las Pulgas exit, which is the mid point between San Diego and LOS Angeles.

My bladder was bursting. I could not wait for the sign of that area. But when I got closed to it the ramp was closed to all traffic. Now I was scared if I could make it to the next exit which is the next 5 miles, beyond the CBP checkpoint, into Camp Pendleton. I was searching for an exit or a bushy area to hide behind, but that area is the desert part of Camp Pendleton. There was no exit, not to many bushes and no trees along that stretch of the road. When I found a stretch of tall brushes, I pulled over, flashing emergency lights, stopped on the shoulder, got out of the car, ready to hide behind the brushes to empty my bladder. Just then a CHP SUV came rolling with his beacon flashing brightly. The guy got on the horn, telling me to close the car door and got over to the curb.

He got out of the SUV, asking me if I had any problem. I claimed the car was sounding funny I had to check under the hood. He probably knew the rest area was closed and he was assigned to assigned to patrol that stretch of the freeway. He told me he wanted me and other drivers to be safe and advised me of the Las Pulgas exit 1 mile ahead, which I already knew. If he had come 1 minutes later, he would have caught me literally with my pants down. Hehe. Whew! I was lucky I did not get nailed for peeing on the Governor's freeway. Hehhe.

Drove to Las Pulgas exit, parked the car on the dirt, hid behind some crates and had a long release worthy of the El Ninos season. A damn tow truck was roaming that exit, towing cars parked on the dirt.

A quick egress from the combat zone

Friday night, I left HK at 10 PM, walked to Pepe's parking to pick up the car, went South on Ninos, West on calle 1, South on F Marinez, then East on Benito Juarez, joining the long line of cars waiting to come back to the US. Along this egress route store fronts were still open with their bright lights. There were no Tijuana cops. Dozens of commuters were still lining up on F Martinez waiting for buses and colectivos.

The Ready lanes to cross back stretched back over the Tijuana river, estimated may be 1.5 to 2 hours wait. 4 SENTRI lanes were open with only 4 or 5 cars in a short line in front of me. It took me only 15 minutes total, from the time I walked out of HK to reach the CBP booth. The agent asked the usual questions, then said I had been selected for a random check. He told me I would have quick service, put a green cone on my car and directed me to the secondary inspection hangar.

There were only 5 or 6 cars being inspected in the hangar. The CBP agent had my GE card, asked to see my driver licence, car registration and insurance. Those are California docs. Even if they were out of order, CBP has no jurisdiction. They would have to call in CHP to write up tickets, which would take a very long wait and not likely to happen. The agent checked the engine bay, trunk, glove box, pounding on body panels, squeezing the leather seats, then said I was cleared to go.

I was cleared quickly, but other cars were still being held up. Unless CBP uses dogs or other sensing devices, I don't see how they could find anything hidden deep inside the car. Secondary inspection was quick this time. It took only 8 minutes. CBP seems to be better organized and motivated to do their job quickly.

Total time from HK to clear CBP Secondary Inspection was 23 minutes.

    SENTRI car crossing Wednesday morning

5 AM I woke up in Cascada, took a shower and went down to HK to check out the party. There was a chubby stripper on stage and about a dozen girls, sitting on their asses, yawning in the booths, no one I know.

There may be 5 street girls in the alley. Lots of tacos stands were still selling on the street. I walked into Azul for breakfast, but the retards could only cook tacos all day. There was no desayuno con huevos why cafe in Azul. I walked through Las Chevelas, not much going on. La Perla was not yet open for breakfast. I wanted US breakfast pretty bad after lots of drinking the whole night. So just checked out and drive back.

Left Pepe's parking at 5:25. There were very few cars on the street. The ready car lanes backed up to over the river, may be 2 to 3 hours wait, but went all the way to the SENTRI lanes without delay, started waiting under the old foot bridge. All cars had CALIF plates. These are guys who go home every night in Tijuana to dinner and hot sex with the GF's before heading back to work in the morning. I crossed the border at 6:05, so it took me total 40 minutes from Coahuila. I could live with that drive if that means hot dinner and hot sex with a pretty chica every night. Hehe.

Taking I5 North through downtown was a mistake. There were thousands cars backed up to cross the bridge to Coronado island, no doubt workers for our cheerful US Navy. Why the hell do we need such a big, bad Navy, when China is 9,000 miles away with a fleet of leaky junks, is way above my pay grade. Will try I 805 heading North in the morning next time.

BTW morning freeways are full of people driving slow, hogging the fast lanes like they own the roads. They are probably all uneducated, uncool illegal immigrants who don't know the rules of the road. Have to talk to Donald Trump about these dumb, slow drivers, seizing all their assets and deporting their asses to Mexico to clear up traffic jams.

    Stories on I-15

I-15 has light traffic at night. It's just farther to South Orange for me.

I was driving North one beautiful, dry, warm, breezy afternoon, weaving around traffic at an undisclosed speed. A white Honda Accord was following me, playing tag, driven by a young girl. She was looking over my way every time she passed. It was a beautiful drive on a beautiful afternoon. We had fun, then she turned West on 91 which was perfect for me. So I followed her, flashing light, honking horn. She pulled over on the right. I came over smiling, complimenting her for her driving skills, to which she was smiling broadly.

Did the same drive one afternoon. A big, fat blue-collar meat head in a big sedan was trying to run me off the road. After some dangerous maneuver, I called 911 and described the car. 2 CHP cars were waiting ahead. They waited for him to pass then followed him. 2 cars squeezed him off the freeway and arrested the bastard. Naturally El Capitan had to be a good citizen and bore witness so the stupid asshole can have his long vacation in The Riverside Resort for homo convicts. Hehe.

1 AM I drove North past the CBP check point at Temecula. The road was pitch black. There was no car. A CBP Dodge charger was tailing me all the way to FWY 91, looking at the back, looking at the right then left side of my car. The fuckers obviously had nothing better to do with his high federal pay.

I took a ride back with a guy in his old Maxima, with gurgling engine, bald tires, gas fume leaking into the cabin under the blinding driving rain of a thunderstorm. The car was hydroplaning and skidding around a couple times with the bald tires, but we made it back in 1 piece.

Boys would do all kinds of stupid, weird shit just to fuck a few hot, wet pussies. Hehe.

Late night traffic on I 5

Most cars on I 5 would do 80 to 85 at night, including grand mas in mini vans and bone heads union workers in pick up trucks!

I am very considerate that I follow them with a good distance at 80 and don't maneuver around cars aggressively like some assholes.

One woman in a tiny Prius see doing 60 with cars all around her, was craning her neck, looking at the mirror, putting on lipstick on her sexy lips. To her, getting fucked for sure by a date is far more important than staying alive. A Prius see once passed me at approximately 110 MPH.

I do pray that bone head drivers of big SUVs and pick up trucks, who hog the fast lanes, roll over and rammed by big rigs so they can meet the devil in hell!

I don't understand how anyone driving 80 mph after a night of drinking can consider themselves as considerate to others.

    Driving into Tijuana

My wingman loves big booty and is a big tipper in HK. He complained to me that the border parking has gone from $6 to $20. OUCH!

I bought Mexican liability insurance for about $100 a year and have been driving across the border into Tijuana, parking free at Pepe's courtesy of HK's VIP card. Friday night at 7:30 PM it took me only 12 minutes to go from the last USA exit to Coahuila and Pepe's parking. On the way back about midnight, there were 3 Sentri lanes open with about 20 cars waiting. It took me 15 minutes to cross back to the US. No hoofing, huffing, puffing, sweating, risking getting robbed when you drive your own car.

Midnight freeway 5 North bound there were medium traffic, with cars in every lane. Lots of stupid folks in their big, clumsy pick up trucks, vans and SUVs were going slow in the fast lane, not giving shit to the rest of the world. I would flash my high beams, and most would move over for faster traffic, except a few bone heads. I managed to pass all traffic all the way from the border to the 805 merging area, when a mini van hogged the fast lane and refused to give up.

Normally I would flash the high beams, and if that does not work, I would maneuver around the hogs. But this time the cute little van seemed to carry a couple with a pair of young children. So I just followed it nicely at about 80 with proper spacing. Unbeknownst to me, the guy who was following on my 4 O'clock blind spot for the last few miles was a motorcycle cop. He was waiting to bust me if I did anything funny. In this case my consideration for that little family in the mini van screwed up his game, so he just sped up and took off in front of us. You can never outrun a cop cycle in a car. So forget about it!

Freeway 5 has been heavily patrolled. They can spot aggressive drivers easily at night. Like I told various judges in traffic court many times, " Your honor, I am a very nice guy, and I am very considerate on the road."

Thank you for posting something current (June 2016) instead of dusty old crap nearly a decade old.

Only a few states ratified that reformed criminal procedure.

The rest are still doing inquisitorial ways.

Page 202 and on, Vicente Fox proposed reforms of the criminal procedures in 2004, but failed in congress, from an inquisitorial model where the judges seek evidence, to an adversarial model, where prosecutors AND the accused can present evidences and witnesses.

Most states in Mexico are back to the inquisitorial procedures where the judges look for evidences and the accused present oral arguments to him. This crude procedure is wide open for abuses and corruption.

    The tickets quota

In real life police all have their unofficial quotas to measure how much work they do for their bosses. CHP guys usually ticket the easiest targets then go on to the next easy targets. They don't usually go after the worst or most difficult ones.

In my case I was cruising in the middle lane. A low-profile CHP patrol car suddenly zoomed out of nowhere and was tagging along at my 4 o'clock for about 1 minute. I never saw him follow behind me. He was looking for indications of drunk or reckless driving, and was waiting for me to make mistakes and break the laws. But I was cruising steady, perhaps a little fast but fairly safe, not posing a threat to anybody. So he sped up to follow the Jeep Wrangler.

The jeep driver immediately knew he was being followed with the CHP's aggressive chase and lane change. So he slowed down and changed to the right lanes, but he was already targeted. CHP followed him for a couple miles at reduced speed then turned on his beacon to stop the Jeep.

It appeared the aggressive weaving was observed perhaps 10-15 miles before the pull over, perhaps by another patrol car who radioed ahead for another unit down the freeway to pursue. All along the 15 miles before that I did not see anyone speeding up trying to catch up. The Jeep was passing every one hehe. So this CHP car came out of its hiding place somewhere down stream. Don't know what he ticketed the jeep for.

The antenna for CHP's 40 MHz UHF band is 5 foot tall, would stick out too high, easily spotted by CHP and would [CodeWord140] them off. CHP cars have much shorter antenna on their roofs, only a few inches. I listened to a few CHP's broadcast samples. Every car on patrol in the region of 1 or 2 counties would broadcast on the same frequencies. So there are a lot of useless info, may not help much. Perhaps the bros know of other techniques or equipment to detect and avoid CHP ambush.

Any professional drivers in the house?
