Polk County, Florida is near Tampa and Orlando. There are prostitution sting operations regularly every few months and they always arrest over 100 guys!

Complete waste of taxpayer dollars and resources. Instead they could be using those resources to reinforce the border and prevent real crime from happening such as the death of Laken Riley. But instead they want to ruin these men's marriages and humiliate them. Shame on you Polk County!

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced Tuesday that a recent prostitution sting generated 228 arrests and possibly identified 13 human-trafficking victims.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office Vice Unit arrested 228 suspects ranging in age from 16 to 73 from across Florida and 11 other states in a recent prostitution operation.

"This is a new record number of arrests during an investigation of this kind," Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement. "More importantly, we identified 13 human trafficking victims; during two previous similar operations in February and October 2023, we identified 24 and 21 victims, respectively. That's 58 victims we were able to identify in one year. ".

The Sheriff's Office launched the eight-day undercover sting on Feb. 22 on the west side Polk County in Lakeland. The multi-agency effort included Lakeland Police Department and police agencies in Auburndale, Davenport, Haines City, Lake Hamilton, Lake Wales and St. Cloud, as well as Winter Have Fire Rescue.

The vast majority, 150 people, were arrested for soliciting a prostitute and traveling to an undercover location to negotiate having sex for money. An additional 12 individuals were arrested, eight of which were for deriving proceeds for prostitution or transporting prostitutes to an undercover location.

Judd said there were 66 prostitutes arrested, of which 13 were screened and may be possible human-trafficking victims.

Of the 228 arrested, Grady said 42 individuals were Polk residents.

"Those of you from Polk County know better," he said. "We talk about this, we don't hide it, and if you don't know about it you obviously live under a rock. ".

Two individuals self-reported connections with Polk County schools.

Other crimes included 44 suspects who brought illegal drugs to the undercover sting and 15 brought firearms resulting in 17 guns being seized.

It is a bit hard to say. My guess is that most of spring break crowd will be heading to Rosarito at least near Tijuana. So police are probably looking to pull over people for traffic violations & DUI's etc. I doubt many sprink break crowd will head to the Zona. But who knows. I was down last Tuesday and things were normal. My guess is that the lines at the border will be longer.

I remember seeing a headline of them increasing the number of police officers for Spring Break so maybe they are just doing more searches to make sure nobody has anything illegal. The good news is that with the recent posts about being searched nobody has had money stolen.

It would be fairly easy to clean up the Zona. If there was better allocation LE resources they could get rid of the drug dealers. Most of the dealers hang out by hotel. CeCe. The national guard is a good idea. But they need a investigative arm as well.

Where did I say the were gong to make prostitution illegal? The article was about cleaning up the Zona Norte and I mentioned that with a female president the chances of this happening are higher.

The mayor of Tijuana has her hands full trying to keep the violence down in the city but she has also introduced some laws to help women from abuse. The governor of the state has been using money to try and boost tourism to the state and her latest move was getting the red line trolley to be able to stop inside Tijuana. Who knows if that will actually happen. She is also dealing with projects to help the traffic in Tijuana. Now much like the US the federal government helps with these projects with funding.

If Sheinbaum wins she will be able to continue to help with federal money to get the Thresholds of America project done and this wouldn't make prostitution illegal they would just move it to a different part of the city so it's not the first thing you see as a tourist when visiting Tijuana. She was mayor of CDMX also and tried to clean it up along with helping the prostitutes from being controlled.

People talk about the poverty in the Zona. But in many parts of Tijuana there is lot of poverty. Just walk outside the Zona and head west or head east. Or walk on Madero or on Primera. I believe that the drug dealer is hte main problem in the Zona these days. Now up until 5-10 or years ago the bandito's was the big problem in the Zona. People were getting mugged all the time. Back in the mid 90's I was on the corner of Primera & Consittucion a couple of bandito's jumped me in broad daylight. About 7 years ago the ratero's would hang out by the hotel CeCe waiting to rob people. Thankfully those days are gone. Today muggings are rare in the Zona.

When you walk West or East from the bars you are still in the Zona Norte and Tijuana has many poor areas but the Zona Norte is among the worst and not what you want people to see when visiting. Even those that don't visit Tijuana and are driving to Playas, Rosarito and Ensenada drive by the Zona Norte and see what a disgusting place it is so that's the impression they have of Tijuana as a whole.

It is much easier to tolerate prostitution legally than to prohibit it. This has been discussed before and the other day an article talking about how run down the Zona Norte is and the people and businesses that are frustrated with the lack of money being spent to upgrade it. It also talks of the long wanted bridge connecting Plaza Americas to this area.

Like I said before, Mexicos next president will be a woman so the chances of the Zona getting cleaned up are very high in my opinion.

The cops are there all the time. I rarely see them searching anyone. My guess is that they are assigned there to keep the pedestrian only part of Primera free of Bandito's and other problems. Primera between Nino's Hero's and Constitucion be a little dicey especially at night. There is more people on the west side of Primera so it is safer.

Yes that little area between the arch and the side of hotel nelson has a reputation. I think cops who are assigned to patrol revolucion see that as there little hot spot to jack people up away from all the eyes on revolucion. From what I have been seeing and hearing it is usually a team of 3 cops, 2 men doing the frisking and a female acting as a lookout. I did hear of a fellow monger recently losing around $800 to these thieves. Another area to avoid would be primera between constituton and nino heros.
